If there was one thing to be said about the pair that Nancy and Sophia had replaced, it was that even if they weren't big talkers, they were at least willing to help and didn't have their noses pointed skyward like the one playing with cards on the desert floor. Mali didn't know what her deal was, and frankly she didn't care. From the way Nancy acted it seemed like the feeling was mutual. Sophia seemed more willing to help, but bumbling and not all that helpful. Curiously, from the way she spoke, it seemed like the apocalypse happened in the past too, and not just an hour or two ago. Mali decided not to think about it too hard, lest she get a headache.

As much as she'd prefer to ignore and forget Nancy, Mali couldn't help but notice her cards wigging out and moving as if they had a mind of their own. The only one acting as a card should doing nothing was Justice in the center. Well if that wasn't ironically fitting, she didn't know what was. For a second Mali considered that maybe Nancy was actually from some alternate world that was like theirs but with magic (which would explain a lot), but from the girl's reactions, she didn't expect this shit to happen either. Mali chalked up the moving cards to more afterlife fuckery and moved on with her life.

"Yeah, Kyra and Caesar being gone doesn't actually change that we need to speak to this Prosperine. So there's no real reason to stick around here. I don't think sitting around waiting for the two of them to magically flip back is going to get us anything either. If anything, knowing Gonzalez, he'll probably be beelining to the Groves with or without us." Mali turned towards Sophia and addressed her next. "Hey, we're going to the Cthonic Groves which are a few days that way. You can come if you want. If you'd rather sit around in the desert playing with cards, I'm not going to stop you."

Upon second thought, it was rather silly of Gio to assume that everyone he'd meet in the afterlife would be a remnant of collapsed time as opposed to simply being deceased. In the future he would not make this same mistake again. Interestingly enough, apparently the dire wolf Ash had met with someone associated with him before. Young Bartholomew thought that it might have been someone he'd known, likely Evelina or Nancy, but it didn't slip The Watch's mind that he could have had a run in with any number of Paradoxes throughout the many years he'd been sending them through time.

Speaking of Bart, he was rather vexed at this entire circumstance, and while Gio couldn't blame him for his anger, such emotions were useless when there was nothing for him to do in the situation, let alone a way to productively channel those negative feelings.

"Deep breaths, Bartholomew."

As embarrassing as his blunder with Kyra had been, his assumption had held true with both of the men. What's more, his hypothesis had been proven correct. The Destruere had become visible to the naked eye with the haze that came forth due to the temporal collapse. What's more, apparently everyone here had some sort of passing familiarity with the Destruere now, with the man called Constantin apparently having engaged in battle and living. These were relatively minor comforts, but when flailing in the storm of chaos, if one found a piece of driftwood they latched onto it as tightly as one could.

"Ah yes, those shadows you saw were the Destruere. They've been menaces wreaking havoc throughout all of history, although until very recently they were always invisible to all but one. Young Bartholomew and I are part of a group that has been fighting them for quite a long time. Mr. Mahendra, you were in Cairo yes? I believe one of your compatriots may have been our comrade Nancy. The good news is that the two of you aren't dead, the bad news is that timelines you came from are, at least for now." Hopefully. He didn't know if those times were truly gone or not, and truth be told, he was scared to try using any facets of his ability The Watch right now. Maybe when he was in a more stable position, but he had the feeling that even giving it a try would spell bad news he would rather avoid knowing.

When Kyra suddenly perked up and named a location, Gio'd brow furrowed. It appeared that she knew the lay of the land in this world. But with the shifting of landscapes and space, he wasn't sure how that was possible. Perhaps this place was not as confusing as it first seemed. Regardless, it didn't hurt to try "spreading his feelers" so to speak before continuing the way they were headed before all this nonsense occurred.

As much as Mali wasn't keen on meeting up with the fabled Prosperine (assuming it was indeed the same entity as their home world, which she doubted, but not enough to eschew it entirely as a possibility), it was the only real lead they had to progress at the moment, so walk to the Cthonic Groves they would. It'd be 4 days' trip, but it wasn't exactly like they were pressed for time. The world had ended as far as she could tell. It wasn't like Double Ragnarok would occur if they didn't do everything with optimal efficiency. But then Kyra said something odd.

"Huh?" was all that Mali could get out before the elf(?) was suddenly replaced by a middle aged-ish, decidedly more modern, but exotically dressed woman. She was well suited for the desert, but still stood out from the Justice League (Mali's brain decided that's what it would call the subset people she recognized from before all this bullshit, whether they had actually lived in Justice or not. It would be easier that way). And in Caesar's place was a girl who looked a couple years younger than herself, but dressed from 80 years prior that seemed to know the other woman and began... fortune telling.

Now Mali was pretty good at dealing with shifting situations. Good thing too or she probably would have been a wreck by now, like Robert had been when they first popped up here. But this was too much for her to parse immediately. Evidently in Purgatory space isn't stable enough to not just randomly shunt you to who knows where if Kyra's words were anything to go by. Well, they had lost their two most skilled members for complete wild cards. At least they still had their goal. If these two didn't want to join in, well it wasn't like they were doomed. Kyra was alone with that wolf before running into them so traveling solo was possible. Mali had a gun on hand still. They could probably manage. Still, she pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed deeply. Why did everything have to be awful? Couldn't the universe just leave her alone? Well, while they were sharing names again.

"I'm Mali. She's Riley."

If it was one comfort, despite the changing landscapes surrounding everyone and the acrid stench of sulfur assaulting them from all sides, it was that despite the appearance of the world around them, the physical location of people were pinned in place. Like mountains poking out from below the ocean. Perhaps it was that space itself here was fluid, dictated by the mindsets and cognition of the subconscious of those inside, thereby making them the anchors of reality. But that was too far down the line of speculation as it was when they were potential targets of Destruere attacks at any moment.

Gio turned to look at Gilbert and saw a man screaming at them in Russian. Ah. Nevermind about that entire last theory. But the sudden disappearance and subsequent replacement of Sophia, Gilbert and Andromeda did tell him a couple of things. There were more people here. And he recognized their garments so they were of the (probably destroyed now) timelines they had just left. Conveniently, one was even from Cairo from the looks of things. So this world beyond was multiversal. A dumping ground for all worlds and times. There were more survivors. But they were probably just as new here as they were. Except for one. The woman with the dire wolf seemed entirely nonplussed by her sudden appearance here, muttering about shiftings.

"Giosue Zino, The Watch at your service," the Emendator introduced himself, following suit of Mahendra. "This is the world beyond the living. Purgatory. Elysium. Whatever other name you might have for it. I take it the three of you ended up here after your timelines collapsed. The world suddenly faded out of existence and you ended up here?"

"I'm not sure what this business is with a book," Mali commented on Robert's remarks about some book that had apparently been stolen, "but if it had something to do with Greek Mythology, I don't doubt that it's intricately linked to Juno, or that Juno has something to do with our current state of affairs. Although before we ended up here I was on and off following a lead that whatever was going on actually went back deeper. Like back to the times of Ancient Egypt." Although now that she had a different set of circumstances around her, she wouldn't be surprised if it went back even further than that. Mythologies had a way of building on top of the corpses of others after all.

"Bertha?" Mali asked Riley with a quirked brow. She didn't know or know of any Berthas. Not even in the form of disgruntled middle school cafeteria workers. She didn't connect the name with the at most vaguely female abomination she had killed a couple of hours ago at most(?). Perhaps that was partially her own desire to forget that entirely even happened; she was no pacifist buddhist monk, if put in a similar situation she'd still shoot at whatever was in front of her, but she wasn't a hardened warrior like Caesar either. The thought that she had taken human(?) life wasn't something that she'd had too much time to come to terms with.

"Celestial Dice? Is that what they were?" Mali perked up, things falling into place once she heard the term. "Bone carved with 20 sides, right? I'd been dealing with them for weeks, but never actually heard a name. And then right before we ended up here, the thing starts glowing along with my hands. I chucked it at the blight and then it acted like this homing missile piercing through again and again. If it's still around, I have no clue."

"As far as a goal goes, none of our stories seem to have any obvious indication on some mission to do here. And there's not much here in the first place to extract some kind of end goal. If something comes up that seems worthwhile I'm all for it, but getting out of here seems like a big enough of an ordeal as-is." For as conspicuous as the details were behind each party member's backstory was, when they got down to it, essentially everyone had been more or less dealing with their own problems before getting dumped here unceremoniously. The only tangible tying point for them being together right now was that they were actually all in Grimm when the apocalypse button got pressed.

"Proserpine?" Mali asked the question, but it was more a declaration of recognition than anything else. She didn't want to believe that this Proserpine was the same one she had heard about. As glaringly obvious as it was that Juno-shit was involved with the current situation, she desperately wished that they had just been wiped out with the rest of the world and that she'd have a break from that business. Part of her believed it wasn't, because then Kyra would have been a bit more familiar with everyone's manner of dress and speaking, but that kind of a coincidence would be too nice to be real, and coincidences didn't exist.

"Even if at one point that figure was The Dice, or if she was at some point she was Evelina, that was not Eve we had just spoken with. Surely you must be familiar with meeting someone you once knew long ago, but although they claim the same name, they are an entirely different person than when you saw them last, and you cannot treat them as such. The how of that woman being what she is does not matter as much as the what she came to do." Surely there was much to discuss about just about everything that was going on, but planning and collaboration were activities to do when one found themselves on flat land, secure in their current environment, even if just for the next few moments. As it were they were still in a storming ocean with nary a piece of driftwood in sight. There would be more time to converse on this later.

"It is not random that he is The Hat and I The Watch, but why we have the specific roles we do isn't something we truly know ourselves. I don't know why I look the way I do, but almost nobody gets to choose their looks and nobody can pick what they're talented at. Perhaps it is an unsatisfying answer, but when it comes down to it, we're almost as clueless as you are when it comes to the philosophical 'true nature' of things."

"Put that thought on hold."
With the sudden change in environment came immediate warning signs. Maybe the Destruere had more important things to do than attack them, but he was not fool enough to proceed with merely that hope as his shield. One thing did come to mind, if the world could change that easily around them, who was to say that directions remained absolute. If they kept going the way they were, perhaps now it would actually lead them astray. Right now while he had the time, Gio tried to quickly confirm that he still felt the presence of another in the same direction as before

Robert glared at Mali, obviously not caring that she told him to shut up, but really she did not care in the slightest what he thought about her. Sure, he might be one of 4 possible people for her to interact with in this barren wasteland, but he had quickly put himself at the bottom of that short list and beyond that she had absolutely no reason to give the slightest thought for his opinion of her. If she had to choose between a pissy, quiet man and a jibbering content one, she'd choose the former every time.

Nuisances aside, at least Mali knew that there were things to eat and drink here. Not that she really knew how to cook, not beyond the basic level of getting food to the point of decent enough for yourself, but nothing you'd make for people you wanted to impress. She hadn't had much time to adjust to eating fancy meals, but she could already tell they would be missed. But being deprived of food she liked was nothing new to her. An existence of making do with a relatively bland list of available sources of sustenance had been her past several years before any of the conspiracy business had dumped itself on her front door. She could probably get by on whatever was available here without complaint.

Unfortunately that came with the knowledge that there were still more shadow beast things like the one that killed Zoie. But her hands were still glowing, so maybe that meant that she still had some power over them? Or something? Nobody seemed to want to bring up her luminescent appendages, so she wouldn't either.

Kyra pointed out a place to walk and left; Mali didn't have anything better to do, so she followed. Their impromptu guide didn't seem very keen on talking. Maybe she had lost the aptitude for conversation over the course of however long she'd been here if indeed the only other company she'd had was the wolf. Whatever the case, Mali decided to follow suit and not try striking up conversation she clearly wasn't interested in having. Instead she decided to focus her mental energy on the current group she found herself traveling with.

Riley was a pop star, which would usually indicate a lack of any useful skills, but she had grown up in that murder town, lived in Boston Heights and was here now. If her experiences were anything like Mali's she could probably be depended on more than appearances let on, but left her paranoid.

Caesar was old but was almost certainly the most dangerous person here, only stopped from being the most dangerous entity by the giant fuckoff wolf. However, age still took its toll, and he looked tired. Moreso than everyone else. Not to mention that here most of his non-skill based resources were null.

And Robert... he looked like a middle-aged guy. She had the least amount of information on him, but from what little she'd seen, she could only presume there wouldn't be too much to expect from him in a survival situation.

Kyra seemed slightly less clueless than the rest of them, but she seemed to have been here awhile and knew how to keep herself intact at the minimum. It would be wise to pay attention to what she chose to say and what she did. Other than that, if she were to stereotype based on her appearance and fantasy tropes from back home, she would guess she knew archery, (xeno)zoology, tracking and maybe a bit of nature magic, if such a thing existed. But, as they said assumptions made an ass out of you and me.

All in all, there could be far worse people for her to be stuck with, but also far better. It didn't help that she had no idea what anyone here wanted beyond the bare bones survival. Well, they were at a supposed resting place that being less out in the open would maybe make the others feel better about being stuck in purgatory. It wouldn't hurt to try taking charge of the situation a bit and try figuring out if perhaps there was some common thread between them all that got them stuck here.

"Alright, I don't know about you guys," Mali began, moving herself in the shade of the cliff, but not sitting like their otherworldly guests, "but I don't plan on just wandering around in the desert forever if I can help it. I don't know why I'm here right now, but maybe we have something in common. Right before we were dumped here, Robert and I were in Grimm for unrelated reasons but we happened to bump into each other shortly before now. There was a shitton of fog, and then this weird haze that wouldn't go away, a scary beyond all reason clown, my hands started glowing and a shadow monster thing that killed a lot of people, then the world dissolved away. What about you?" A very brief cliffnotes version of events, but if more detail was necessary she could go into more detail. Right now she would rather not think too much about recent events though.

Yes, Gilbert was definitely reverting back to his old ways. Not that Giosue could find too much fault in that. His original persona was forged in much harder times than what they had grown accustomed to. In such a foreign situation as the one they found themselves currently, cutting out the bits of oneself that were unnecessary was the most efficient way to go about making one's way through the unknown. But perhaps those parts were necessary, and not to be cast aside so quickly. As the other Emendator here, it could do well for him to not follow the lead so readily and keep his more modernized outlook.

The appearance of the new figure certainly made the answer to the question of where they were blatant. Gio had always been somewhat curious about what the afterlife was like. This was rather disappointing. He might have actually preferred the world beyond to be literally nothing, a cessation of existence. It would at least spare everyone from being stuck in an empty world. The Watch chalked up the fact that they were together as being a fluke rather than something most people got the luxury of. Maybe there was another afterlife after this one, but that level of speculation was ill befitting of the moment.

This Dike Astrea, although she called herself The Dice, and looked at Gil and Gio with recognition in her eyes, she did not look like Eve, did not act like her. Perhaps she was the aspect of The Dice separated from the persona of Evelina by whatever occurred to bring her here (if this way indeed the world in-between existence, and Faith's ability to be between states was necessary to find Eve, then even without the figure calling herself The Dice, it wouldn't be a stretch to conclude that this is how their comrade had managed to seemingly erase herself from existence). Or maybe this is just some distant future version of her that was now outside of time. But he would still choose to treat her as a separate entity from the Dice that they had been missing not so long ago. And she cut off "the other way out" so to speak, disappearing along with it.

"Well, all we can do is keep looking ahead. Onwards." Gio flattened out his clothes and walked in the direction Gilbert had been, other options cut off and a thousand possibilities swirling about in his head.

Mali didn't know what to think about the situation, let alone how to feel about anything that had happened. If there was one thing that was comforting, it was that everyone seemed to be on the same page that they were in some sort of purgatory. She didn't recall dying even though everyone else had been, but who knows, maybe she just didn't remember it. Or perhaps everyone who hadn't died already just got dumped here after the end of the world. Either way, it didn't really matter why, but more that they were here in the first place.

Furthermore, Kyra and Ash as the elf(?) put it weren't hostile in the least as far as she could tell. They seemed more bored than anything. So she could let her guard down just a bit. Down below the level of "in imminent danger of being mauled by a wolf," at least. But other than the lack of any immediately obvious impending danger, there was just nothing for her to go off of. And since this was indeed a purgatory, maybe the seemingly endless expanse of nothing actually was nothing. Mali went to scratch her head when she noticed that her hand was glowing. Still. So either the dice stained her soul with glo-stick fluid, or she never actually died and this was permanent.

Again, it didn't really matter which at this point, but the establishment of even a single additional fact, even one as infuriating as unexplained bioluminescence felt like progress towards something, rather than nothing. Of course, getting what facts she did have straight would be a lot more easily done if there wasn't unnecessary quipping and references to The Lord of the Rings in her ear.

"Look around you. There is nowhere else away from 'here.' Here goes as far as you can see in every direction. Probably forever. Now if you don't have anything productive to add, shut it." Perhaps a more rude response than Robert deserved, but she was still rather on edge from the everything that had happened in the last hour.

Mali tried thinking of something to ask the woman. She seemed almost as ignorant as they were, but she could still know something important they didn't. The first thing to ask that came to her was if there was anybody else, but she thought about that sentence. No one else has been here. Did she just mean where they stood right now? No, perhaps she meant this entire other world. Either way the answer was probably no. If there was some sort of society set up that she was apart of, her reaction probably wouldn't be that of complete apathy. Perhaps more questioning would lead her nowhere. Maybe she could better understand what was going on by forming a bridge of sorts with Kyra.

"Mali," Mali pointed to herself to introduce herself in the same fashion that Kyra had. "We're from a different world from you. Our names and clothes are normal there." An assumption, but a safe one. Really, it was a miracle they even could understand each other perfectly. Upon finishing her explanation, a concern cropped up in her head, one that felt pertinent enough to bother asking.

"Is there any food here? Or water?" Even if they were in purgatory, Mali didn't want to make the assumption she could function without biological needs and end up a shriveled husk in the middle of this desert, forever dehydrated and starved.

"I can't believe I can say where this is. I've never seen any place quite like this before." The past 24 hours (relative to his perspective of course) had been full of firsts, and Giosue didn't like it one bit. The familiar let you know what to expected, it was stable ground. Over the past couple weeks it was like the dirt beneath his feet had eroded into sand and then the sand gave way to a vast ocean. Only vague landmarks on the horizon kept him from sinking entirely. In the current situtation he could only do his best to keep everyone together and hope Nancy was alright. That said, nobody who had made it through the portal was horrifically injured, so that would serve as his silver lining.

"That's a great idea, Ms. Harris. Please proceed." Gilbert summed up the situation most aptly. They were in a metaphor right now, but a metaphor for what exactly? Well they had no idea until they could investigate more thoroughly. However, the oldest among them had taken it upon himself to just march off in whatever direction he saw fit. Gio knew the kind of mood he was getting into and wouldn't be able to be talked out of it quickly enough for him to return to the rest of the group while Sofia was preoccupied. Well if any one of them were capable to handling themselves alone, it would be him, but they still needed to move as a unit.

"Let's try to not split the group more than necessary. As soon as Ms. Harris is capable, let us follow Gilbert."

The end of the world came with a surprising feeling of hollowness. Mali could imagine others around the world panicking over their impending demise, or the loss of loved ones. Or maybe they were one of those freaks who actively rooted one the end of all things. She certainly fell into the latter camp, and while she didn't want her folks and little sis back home to die, they didn't enter her thoughts as the world faded away around her. As far as she was concerned, this was merely the final lynch pin in the awful luck that had decided to follow her around since moved into the god forsaken city of Justice.

But, most surprising of all was that she stuck around. Evidently whatever fate or luck had been deciding things wasn't through with her. But not only was she there, but so was that one guy from the bookstore as well as her fellow Boston Heights residents Caesar and Riley, two people she knew more about than they did her. And a door. Perhaps most puzzling of all was how that single piece of external furniture was brought along with the rest of them to this desert purgatory. At least, that was Mali's best guess at what this was. Purgatory or Naraka, although Bookstore Guy thought he was dreaming.

Putting all else aside, it didn't feel right to do anything before getting Caesar free from that door that was pinning him. Even if he was somehow the mastermind that put them all in this situation, it wasn't like he could do much worse to them than half the things she'd seen in the past half hour. And it would be a dick move to just leave him pinned there. Mali was about to move to help lift the door off the elderly Mexican when suddenly a big ass wolf, far larger than any she'd seen before showed up and started sniffing him. That made her stop in her tracks real quick. And right behind it was a woman who looked like she stepped right out of Lord of the Rings. Riley took the initiative with asking the obvious questions, so she'd just stay still and observe.

After escaping through the portal, Gio turned around and made a headcount of who made it through before the portal snapped shut. Surprisingly enough it remained open long enough that most of the group were able to make it through, the only ones who hadn't been able to make it through were James and Peter. He very much didn't appreciate their already small group dwindling further, but given the near checkmate situation they had found themselves in just a few moments ago, he resolved himself to mourn the lost and find some way to carry on as they always had before.

"Is everyone alright?" He asked once the portal closed. The Watch looked around the environment. It certainly was a step up from the chaos they had left behind. Although the skies spoke of bad omens, the terrain was nice, serene even. It reminded him a bit of the time he spent in Rome. And they were left on a road that guided them in two directions, each towards a tree. He wasn't sure where he was, but this was nothing like any place he had ever been.

Apart from that, there was a pull. A distant one. Perhaps that was Evelina? It was her or Nancy. But Nancy's had been close by, and he had no idea how she would end up in this peculiar location just as soon as they did. Whoever it was, it would do them good to track her down as quickly as possible. But after everyone had their condition confirmed as being in the green.

Now if asked in a peaceful situation what the chivalrous course of action would be in a matter like this, perhaps one would say that it would be to stand back and make sure everyone else made it off the boat first so to speak. Well those people were probably all already erased by time so it didn't matter what they thought anyways. But as Giosue saw it, it was rather like being a war doctor. Your first priority was to make sure you survived, because if you die, you can't help anybody else.

With the Destruere quickly closing in and the fabric of time-space deteriorating, only he had the ability to potentially actively change anything. Perhaps Evelina's Dice might also have been able to effect a change, but she was a non-factor here. If he died here, even if everyone else survived, whenever they ended they would be stuck there. And if they needed to be elsewhen, then they'd have no recourse. On top of that, he had no idea how long he'd be able to maintain that portal. If it lasted long enough for everyone to pass through, fantastic. But it might only last a fraction of a seconds. He didn't even have time to think of anything as making sure everyone else got through. It would be like trying to hold the open the blast doors of a supercruiser. As soon as he saw the portal opened he stepped through. To where, he had no clue, and really didn't care.

Mali stood in awe of what was happening in front of her. If she didn't know better, she would have sworn that she was dreaming right now. Zoie and her had never actually left the McDonald's drive thru; she'd just passed out. How nice it would have been for something so simple and clean to be the truth of the matter. Even in her wildest dreams she wouldn't have concocted a scenario like this.

But even beyond the catharsis of cutting loose and letting herself get really fucking angry for once. Or the satisfaction of avenging Zoie's murder, even unintentionally. Or just seeing something, anything go right right now. There was something mesmerizing about the way that the die was bouncing around blowing the fuck out of the mass of shadow's ass. It almost reminded her of one of those "satisfying" compilation videos, or an old school screensaver. She could just watch this die bounce around forever.

She was so transfixed, that she didn't even hear Robert has her about the die. Not that she would have been able to answer in any satisfactory manner anyways. The best she had were hypotheses. Nor did Mali notice Adelaide freaking out and dissolving away into nothing a couple of feet away from her. Perhaps it was for the best. Given how everything else had gone down over the past few hours, who knows how she might respond. All she could do now was watch things unfold around her.

And things were going so (relatively) smoothly too. In hindsight, Gio should have known that fate would not allow them such ease of movement for as long as they'd wanted, but it would have been pointless to act otherwise. What was the alternative? To sit around waiting for the end, not knowing if it'd be in 3 years or 3 minutes? Even for the most glacial of the Emendators such a mode of being was rather pathetic.

But that didn't change the fact that the situation that they were in was bad. Dire. Abysmal. And it all happened so quickly. When he heard Nancy's voice, at first he thought that she was in the armory above. But he shouldn't have been able to hear them as clearly as he did. And the location wasn't exactly right. Then there were more voices, and they weren't coherent enough for them to all be part of the same conversation. That, combined with the sky above made Gio conclude in agreement with Andromeda that they were probably experiencing the beginning of the complete dissolution of time-space proper and these were bits and pieces of other times and places. Not that mattered in the face of the far more pressing danger.

"That is likely the case, Ms. Andromeda. Although in this situation it's on a far larger scale than the breakdown of a single timeline. And I finally remembered. Sulfur. If you smell sulfur, then Destruere are near." Too bad they lacked the firepower to kill any. On top of all that, the location made them fish in a barrel, and their fated enemies just so happened to be armed with proverbial shotguns. In the midst of all this, Gio looked over to Peter and saw his fingers start to fade. At that point, The Watch decided to risk it all. He didn't want to do this, but at this point if time broke completely, it would simply be slightly ahead of schedule. Giosue pulled out his pocket watch and attempted to open up a time portal to somewhere. Almost anywhere or when would be a better situation than the one they found themselves currently.

"If this works, go through! I don't know how long it will hold!"

As soon as the die left Mali's hand, she regretted it. That thing was an ancient, valuable artifact. What the hell was she thinking throwing it? What if it broke? Or she lost it somewhere? Even if turned out to be the source of all this mystical bullshit, she still couldn't leave it around for Juno to find. That still didn't change how upset she was over everything that had occurred, but she just felt even worse because she worried that she might have made things even worse.

At least that's how she felt until she saw the die fly through the air as if it had a mind of its own chasing after... What the hell was that mass of black? Her mind auto-completed it to being the true source of the horror movie shit going on. Kind of like the monsters in The Mist except not at all. Having at least some concrete bit of information helped stabilize the world a bit, giving her ground to work with. That was until Robert told her that Zoie was dead, killed by that thing.

A small part of Mali wasn't shocked that this happened. She saw Zoie run off alone, which was a death sentence in slasher films. And yet, it was so sudden. An hour ago she never would have thought Zoie would be killed before nightfall, least of all not by a shadowy lovecraft monstrosity. But if anything, the adrenaline running through her body was enough to keep the full gravity of the situation from hitting her, which was enough. Furthermore, it was running from the die, which was glowing. Her hands were still glowing too. Did that mean? Mali ran to the front of the house to the window to see what exactly would happen next.
