Okay, so the present day of the game is in 2512 and humanity by and large knows about the existence of nonhuman life now, but not all the gritty details, right? Does this mean BETA is no longer a secret organization and is taking applicants and whatnot? Are there any serious projects they have underway in relation to their investigations of aliens? I just need some frame of reference here.
That all sounds good to me. Eager to work out a PC. d(^_^)
Well, I'm not crazy about the name 'World Governing Entity.' Something catchier like... "Unigov" (a colloquialism) or UGO (United Global Order), maybe? Whatever, small beans, I guess, but I can be a stickler about trivial nonsense. =P

I'm a bit curious how a desolate, war-torn, resource-poor Earth would be able to come out the victor in a war against a technocratic, resource-rich Mars, save perhaps by a combo of some sort of "space race" scenario to claim the rest of what the Solar System has left to offer and just outright seizing Martian vassals and pillaging their goodies. Is that the way of things?

I also fail to see why Mars would even bother with Earth during its own golden age, but as I don't see any mention of it in the truncated sheet, maybe you've dropped that.

I'm wondering if the Grand Coalition would evolve into a less greedy-by-necessity society driven by desperate conquest and consumption and more of a market-based one that values trade and innovation, especially as humanity ventures beyond its home system and reaps the benefits of others.

And hey, where's the AI that's gained self-awareness? Can't have a space opera without at least one. ;)

Anyway, mostly dig it. Like 90-95% of it. ;)
AlienBastard said However I work under the belief that not everyone who shows interests will actually play, so the actual amount of initial people who stick around for the RP itself may vary a lot.

That... is a fair point. I should've known, as I've both dealt with and been such a type.

AlienBastard said I also had a history sheet but was advised against using it due to having too many irrelevant events.

Showww iiit.
I second ReaptheMusic's sentiment. Though I'd argue less than eight players is fine, even preferable. Something intimate, less confusion for us, less work for you... ;)
I'm excited to see how this goes and what everyone does with their characters. Your GM statement's very encouraging, DC. ;)

BTW, great artwork, Wizard! The ripped sleeve, letter 'R' and the chain around the bat are nice touches.

Name: Barry Talbot | Age: 18 | Gender: Male | Species: Werewolf
Appearance:
(Human form) He's blond, wiry and tan, with an easy smile. Fits the generic expectation of a white upper-middle-class Angeleno in the '80s.
(Monster form) A hairy biped with sorta-lupine facial features, claws and the like. A classic wolfman!
Indeed, L.A. is so large that multiple schools and dwellings in far apart cities-within-the-City seems very likely. Thanks for the confirmation. As I alluded before, I was interested in how we'd have our characters' lives intersect. I'm sure something cool will be worked out. ;)
Cool, thanks for the feedback, DC. Working on a PM for you, but for the sake of others who may also be curious, I'll ask here; Will the PCs be peers at the same school (supposing they all even attend)? While a degree of autonomy from each other is believable, I for one usually feel like a group RPG should strive to have characters who frequently interact.
Oh, man, you've just introduced to me to a lot of potentially cool things. For that alone, thanks!

This is exactly the sort of quirky, unapologetically-'80s-loving idea I didn't know I'd been waiting for. So much so that, even though I've been meaning to do without RPGs for a little while, I'm immediately backpedaling on my position because I want in.

I know you used it as an example in the premise description, but a teenage werewolf in the eighties is just the role I'd want to play. Can I, pretty please? I still have to work out more of a concept (gonna refamiliarize myself with some archetypal '80s characters), but right now I'm thinking a track runner named "Barry Talbot" in homage of Barry Allen (The Flash) and Lawrence Talbot (The Wolf Man), possibly also with some nickname that winks at his true nature.

Speaking of, are these monsters "out" or do they keep a lid on their alter egos as much as possible?
