Elemmíre stepped out after the doctor and for a moment she just stood and stared, a light breeze teased her silver hair and ruffled the lacy skirt. They appeared to be in the courtyard of a large hall, there were at least two hundred steps leading up to the door and all around there were people, so many people. They were human or at least most of them looked human although some definitely did not look human but as she gazed intently at them she saw it was nothing more makeup and costumes they wore. The Doctor stood beside as they both stood outside the Tardis, in turn they were both receiving their fair share of looks but the Doctor just seemed to take it in good-naturedly.

"Ah looks like some convention. Brilliant” She looked up and saw the widest grin on his face that she had yet seen. "Allons-y shall we?"

Hand stuck deep in his pockets the doctor began to wander casually towards the steps with Elemmíre following a step behind him. She knew where she was now, this was earth and it had been an awfully long time since she had walked amongst them, a good decade or two, maybe more. Time was different on this planet from the rest of galaxy. As they walked towards the large entrance people called out to the doctor, their voices full of praise, but she couldn’t catch what they were saying.

Keeping pace behind the doctor Elemmíre was fascinated as they walked into the building and found it was as large as several cathedrals inside and full of so many humans, again they were all strangely dressed. They quickly found themselves at the front of a queue and to the human behind the table the doctor flashed a blank piece of paper to him which he seemed to accept as a valid pass. They were handed a map, a schedule and directed to the left which lead to the main hall.

“Great Dr Who cosplay by the way.” The man said as they walked away, Elemmíre looked back over her shoulder at him and caught him watching her walk away and then a blush creeping over his face. Elemmíre smoothed her dress down nervously, surprisingly considering those around her and the way they were dressed her outfit was quite reserved.

“Well, this is something!” She said, eyes sweeping over the massive hall that lay before her, filled top to bottom with banners, tables piled high with goods and more and more people than she had ever seen.

Kitsuna watched him with bright blue eyes as he tipped her off his back and onto the ground at his paws. She saw a look cross in his face, he was inherently a alpha and it was in his nature to not allow the balance of power to shift away from him, couple that with the fact that a power hungry demon lived inside him and it was no surprise really that he hated even the hint of being dominated. However Kitsuna was not Ivy and it was not in her nature to be an omega and having been an only pup she had never had a normal pack structure, in fact she had been compared to most she had been coddled by her parents. So she was used to getting her own way and it was not going to change now.

Laughing at him from the ground she quickly gathered her paws beneath her and without any powers she sprung at Ren. Knocking him over they fell head over tails down a gently slope. Squeals of delight coming from Kitsuna they continued to roll, their coats the perfect yin-yang of their opposite. Finally they came to a breathless halt; Kitsuna had ended up lying on her back on the ground, neck craned to gaze up at Ren above her, a warm smile on her face. Gently reaching up a paw she touched his cheek, eye gleaming in the darkness like stars.

“You don’t have to be so serious all the time you know.” She crooned sweetly at him.
Seraphina was glad that her father was taking her suspicions about the minstrel seriously, he even brought other points to light that she hadn’t considered. As she was dismissed from her father’s side, Seraphina could not help the small scowl that crossed her face. She knew it was a common idea about the artful nature of women, how men would speak of their wiles. It seemed her father was not above tarring her with the same brush. Seraphina felt a little disappointed that even she was not above such stigma. However she gave herself the smallest of shakes, almost like a swan in it’s before flight preparation and making her way down from the dais she watched with a calculating gaze as the cuckoo made his outrageous speech.

For a few minutes she stood off to the side of the circle watching the sparrow prance around in her circle, the girl seemed giddy as attempted to entice the men around her. Seraphina allowed the smallest of smiles to touch her lips as her violet eyes sparkled coldly, she was careful to make sure not a hint of emotion showed on her face. All the while she watched the girl perform her dance, it was true what they said, country dances really were the pale imitations of their courtly origins. Seraphina had seen this sort of behaviour before, a young one at their first ball, overwhelmed by the attention; it tended to go to their heads. Her eyes flashed over to the cuckoo as he continued to play and she was not surprised to find his eyes fixed on her, inviting her to join.

With a shake of her silver ringlets Seraphina timed her entrance perfectly, striding out to the open area of the circle as the sparrow was opposite her, just as the music quivered on a high note she struck her pose and began. She joined in with the Sparrows dance, each step matching, each dancer moving perfectly across the circle from her counterpart. However there was a distinct difference in their dancing, one was light, carefree and wild, the other graceful, extravagant and refined. The Swan did not try to catch anyone’s attention for the confidence of a queen is in knowing she already has it, knowing that without effort all eyes were on her. Despite this she did not try and out match the girl or upstage her, instead she worked hard to keep them in harmony.

As the music progressed the dancers got closer and closer, each move made by one flowing easily into a reactive move of the next. Their styles were different it was true but it worked under the cuckoo’s clever influence as he worked to keep the music suitable to both ladies styles. The tempo increased and they spun in a whirl of wings and feathers, copper and ebony, simple and elegant. At last they reached the final dramatic note, which filled the silent hall with its echoing vibrations. Both ladies had finished back to back, the tips of their wings just touching. The Sparrow had dipped into a neat and business like curtsey to complete her dance while the Swan Queen was arched in a graceful curve one arm outstretched in front of her the other to her side as she crossed one leg behind her in a sweeping gesture.

For a moment there was a reverberating silence around the hall as all gazed in wonder at the two dancers, both of whom stood as still as if carved from marble. It was then that the first pair of hands came together in applause, which was quickly taken up by all, their tumultuous clapping filling the air as the Sparrow and the Swan unfroze and returned to their full height. As the clapping finally came to a end and people began to break from the circle the Swan and the Sparrow turned to face one another.

Seraphina was a bit taller than the Sparrow, as she was accustomed to, her eyes raked over the girl in an appraising manner. Under the cool gaze of the Swan the Sparrow began to squirm slightly. Seraphina just exuded a calm and sophisticated confidence that few could mimic and even fewer had truly obtained. For a couple of heart beats they looked at one another until Seraphina gained the reaction she wanted, the girl dropped her eyes and offered a curtsey to her which after a moment she returned although hers was smaller. However her face quickly broke into a warm smile and relaxing her posture slightly Seraphina spoke gently.

“You danced most beautifully my Sparrow Maid, it did indeed bring to mind the bird you are dressed as tonight, so bright and quick.” Her voice was calming and soft though loud enough to be carried easily over the humdrum background noise. “Your teacher must have been very good indeed; I doubt I can think of half a dozen others who can dance so well.” They spoke idly for a few more moments, their conversation never more deep than of dancing steps or of the beauty of the hall. Watching carefully Seraphina took note that soon the Sparrows posture had copied her own, she had relaxed in her presence and spoke more free and easily. As she relaxed Seraphina noted several important things, how she held her shoulder, arms, position of her hands, how she involved herself in conversation, these were all details she could read from her.

“So who is your partner my Sparrow, will you not introduce me to the one who provided us with such bright music?”
Kitsuna got up from her lonely position at the edge of the trees and walked towards Ren, face wrinkled in amusement that she could not help it showing in her face. She relaxed her posture again as she gave him a wolfish grin, trotting back over to him so they once again sat together and she gave him a bump with her shoulder.

“You are silly Ren, of course I wasn’t there, and otherwise I would be as old as you are! My dreams are prophetic and they aren’t always meant to be taken literally. I think my dream was telling me that I can find a way to … to …” Here she struggled for words not knowing what it was she could do but knowing it was something. “I don’t know, but I have a feeling there is something I can do for you.” Smiling again Kitsuna gracefully reared up and lounged over Ren’s back, her head resting over his. “And thank you, it’s nice to know that and considering I now have the upper hand on you this means we now know who is the stronger of us.” Kitsuna said with a laughing growl as she very gently teased his left ear with mock bites.

Kitsuna continued to play with him in her most puppy like fashion, it was infectious and no one could ever stay mad or grumpy when she got like this.
Elemmíre walked behind the Doctor, despite the slight pain she still had a spring in her step as together they came to a fantastic kitchen. Sitting down gracefully at one of the breakfast bar stools she started in on the eggs he laid out before her and to her own surprise she found she was starving. In a matter of minutes she had demolished what had been placed in front of her and with a smile she looked over to him, he returned her smile with one of his own but his eyebrow was raised in amusement.

Suddenly the Tardis, if she remembered correctly that is what he had called the ship, gave a horrible mechanical scream as it lurched to the left and shook violently. Both the Doctor and Elemmíre were flung across the floor and went sliding back in the other direction when it swung over to the right. Letting out a small scream Elemmíre tried to cling onto anything to anchor herself against sliding around.

Then with a final thud and a shake they finally stopped, Elemmíre blinking in surprise as she looked over at the Doctor who had managed to hook his arm round the leg of a chair on the opposite side of the kitchen.

“I think we have landed somewhere?” Elemmíre said with confusion as she struggled to her feet her curiosity pulling at her as she walked towards the door. But she stopped not knowing what to expect out there, turning back she looked to the Doctor.
