Name: Sarah Jolant
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: About five foot flat, auburn hair pulled into a pony tail, athletic build.
Element: Air
Powers: Pretty tame compared to many at the campus, she needs to create air flow in order to manipulate it. She accomplishes this in one way with her bo staff. With even a light swing she can use the air currents being made by both ends of her Bo staff to enhance her strikes. Using these air currents, she is able to manipulate the air in a multitude of ways; From compressing it into a V shape to slice, or a wide gust of wind to buffer her target, she has yet to explore all the options. She has even been experimenting with finger/hand gestures to compound air currents around her hands and 'shoot' a compressed ball of air, but she has yet to go further than a yard with any sort of strength. She also can whistle...VERY well.
Non elemental skill: She is a
Blue stripe belt in Bojutsu. She was up for her red belt a month before she was brought to the Campus. She also knows sign language fluently.
Personality: Calm and collected, she rarely lets volatile emotions control her. She thinks before she acts, but she's steadfast and loyal to friends and family. Hurt her or her family/friends, and she won't hit you, only make you wish she hit you, because it would be faster.
History: A free spirit, Sarah always acted on what her heart told her to. Being mute, she learned signing before she fully understood English, as her parents were the sort that read the 'raise your child smart' guides. She was a straight A student not because she was smart, but because she didn't make friends easily. The first few having been stuck-ups who wanted to pick on her due to her muteness. So she didn't waste time going out and enjoying life. Her enjoyment was picking up Bojutsu, the art of combat centering on the use of the staff.
Sarah learned more than just how to control her body from her instructors, but how to control her mind. They saw the anger and frustration in her from being unable to speak, and they drove home the fact that actions speak louder than words. She no longer stomped away when someone poked fun at her, she smiled and waved at them, writing on a pad if they didn't know signing to start up a conversation. No more did she throw her hands up in frustration when she had to pull her pad out for the tenth time that day to talk with people in everyday life.
She didn't know when it started happening, it was so subtle, but she soon realized she was doing more with her staff than what her strikes did. She was going through her practices one day, and with an overhead downward strike, she lopped off a tree branch further down in her yard. At first she thought it was a coincidence, the branch had been weak to begin with....but after seeing the clean cut through the wood, she attempted the movement again, and got the same result.
This caused her to pour more effort into her training, shooting up through the belts like they were nothing. Sarah was careful to try and hold back in public though, for fear of being found out. But she didn't have to worry about this for long. On a seemingly normal summer day, a trio of men came to her door, telling her she was more than special, and for her to join them. She simply nodded, and went up to tell her parents that she had enrolled in a special school a ways away that offered bo staff classes, college level classes, and specialty teachers for her disability. She hadn't told them before because she wanted it to be a surprise.
With her track record, her parents were overjoyed, and said yes. Sarah quickly packed up a few clothes, toiletries, grabbed a few different weights of Bo staffs her size, before following the men out the door, making the sign "I love you" to her parents, before getting in the car and heading off to her new life...
When they got to campus and had her register at the front desk, someone walked up with what looked like a baby bird wrapped up in a small blanket. "It is customary for our students to have a friend when they first arrive. It helps them." The woman motioned for Sarah to take the bird, and she did, gently wrapping her arms around the bundle of blanket. But something felt off the moment the woman extracted her arms. The weight of this baby bird did not feel right at all. Sarah lifted the top of the blanket, and saw something that almost made her faint; a baby horse rear end.
The baby hippogriff looked up at her, opened its beak, and spoke "Hello! Are you my new friend?!"
Sarah fainted.
Familiar:
Kokonotsu, "Koko"Powers of Familiar: At a young age, he experiments with flight, not really achieving it without Sarah's help. He is able to (I need help thinking something up for him. I'm stumped. I don't want something similar to Sarah's power.)
