Hi. I'm a 35 yo SAHD who spends my days writing blogs for small businesses. I've been 'the DM' ever since I bought the Red Box back in 8th grade. I've worked my way through dozens of systems, finally settled on "screw rules, let's tell awesome stories."
I RP 1x1 with my wife every day, telling awesome stories. I'd like to play in some stories that aren't the ones I run at home.
Stories I've recently told:
* A girl who can't go home for Spring Break gets picked up by a boy she's had a crush on for months, and he and his three friends take her to a vacation home for the week. Before the week is up, she accidentally uncovers a portal to the Celestial Kingdom, and learns that the four boys are in fact the Four Archangels (Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, and Uriel). After a few interesting adventures correcting invasions of Hell into the mortal world, she gets to wondering why the angels are incarnated, and learns that each boy's body also contains the spirit of one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and Heaven is gambling that the combined spirits will be good during life, thus 'adopting' the Horsemen and avoiding a horrible Armageddon. Eventually, she has to choose between following Heaven's plan, giving in to Hell's temptation, or striving to find a third route.
* An actress working as a maid in a mansion watches as the bloody body of one of her employers falls out of the attic at high speed. Before he dies of what appear to be sword wounds, he gives her a note and demands that she deliver the note to his brother, who is 'trapped up there.' When she goes up there, she discovers that there's a different world attached to the attic Narnia-style. She further learns that in that world, outsiders who have the ability to pretend to be something will become that thing. She pretends to be a wizard and goes around passing out unheard of things like chocolate and nutmeg. Before she ever encounters the brother she's looking for, she finds out that the assassin who murdered him has snuck through the portal and is on Earth. They discover her in Wal*Mart, making a huge scene by screaming at the meat section. ("What is this? You eat only the least of the flesh, and even that, you wrap in this...disgusting...stuff?") The heroine corners the assassin and offers to help her get back to her world, but the assassin decides to stay, and the two become friends. Eventually, she finds the brother, who tells her all about the other world -- it's a storybook that became real because it was written in a special kind of ink derived from an ancient source related to Stonehenge. It turns out after much adventuring and gathering of allies that our world was once similarly written, but that it was freed from its author by someone pitching the book into the inkfont at the world's core. She has grown in stature and power in the other world due to her magic, and has to decide between giving up her magical abilities/freeing the world, and keeping the power but allowing the assassin (who turns out to be that world's Evil Empress' daughter) to keep the world's book and thus rule the fate of the world. She's not a bad person, but...?
So...that's about the level and style that I'm used to. I could really get into some decent RP as long as it's not too specific to a given piece of existing media (like "Let's to a Strike Witches game!") because I have almost no media exposure except Once Upon a Time, Arrow, and my wife's slew of detective mysteries, which I really have no desire to RP. :)
