Brad didn't hear Nathaniel's question. At least, not at first. The trip to the infirmary had been frightening to the former footballer, from the near falls on the slick floor to the feeling that the crazy lady could be around any corner. The fact that it had gone so smoothly only made it worse. They had seen no one on the entire trip, neither security, student, nor attacker. While a week ago, he would've thanked the Light, he knew now that this place was too bizarre to have something go so well.
That and how quickly they were ushered out of the infirmary. Sure, he wasn't a doctor but he figured the struggling personnel would've appreciated an extra couple pairs of hands to help. Brad also knew CPR but he admitted to himself that was probably not what the moaning patients needed.
On top of all that, another particular moment burned in his mind. That lady in the classroom... She had looked at Nathaniel, specifically. Was he in danger? Was Brad in more danger just by being around him? He couldn't just leave him alone; the guy was one of his only friends.
Brad felt himself shake. He was big and tough and strong but, by the looks of things, that wasn't exactly going to help him here. Brad was way too out of his element here.
He propped himself up on the wall, finally processing Nathaniel's question. "I... I don't know."
