The Northern Lands are harsh and unforgiving at the best of times, but now an evil seeps down from the uncharted lands threatening to engulf all that stand in its way. The evil of which I speak? The Black Blood Plague. It corrupts the minds of men and women, adults and children, dogs and beasts, and turns them into mindless cannibals. It is up to you to investigate this scourge, and bring an end to it before it takes everyone you love.
Genre: High fantasy mixed with zombies.
The Setting: This RP is set in the fictional fantasy world of ‘Spirabilis’. Set in it’s Northern Lands (as it is referred to in the South), the Celtobar Peninsular has become a rallying point for the Kingdom of Vaseli and refugees from the various tribes along its Northern borders. The threat is a magical plague that is quickly moving south and has been called ‘The Black Blood’ because of the physical effect is has on its victims. Those that are infected become highly aggressive, mindless, cannibalistic, and their blood thickens and turns black. So far there has been no cure, but priests seem to be confident that this is the result of dark magic, not nature. The only hope it would seem, would be to find the source and destroy it. Unfortunately the lands to the far North are inhospitable and full of dark creatures, and even the tribes try to stay as southward as they can.
Now the main cities of Vaseli are becoming full of hatred, as refugees clog the streets and increase the chance of the plague breaching the walls. Without the farms being worked, food stores are also declining at a fast rate. This has only deepened existing resentment however, for the Kingdom has fought the tribes for centuries and there is no shortage of bad blood. Even those wanting to flee south are finding it hard, for across the channel is the Kingdom of Dawn, who are currently at war with the Kingdom of Vaseli; any ships attempting to cross have been sought out and either sunk or burned.
Desperate, King Barius of House Vaseli has withdrawn his troops from the North and has doubled his effort to take the White Coast and expand into the territory of Dawn. But he knows that this is not enough, and now he has trusted generals and advisors in each city to draw together teams of investigators to uncover the truth behind the plague. These investigators, known as the Consano, are being told to meet at a town named The Cross Roads. Here there is also an opportunity for others to join the group, but only if Sir Chester and Lady Buxton think they are worthy.
Some Handy Key Points (maybe):
There is magic, but it's uncommon
The plague has no cure
Characters must bring something to the team, but that doesn't mean I want them to be OP
Knights are very rare
Travelling is, unfortunately, a thing in this RP
Technology and culture wise, this is much like the middle ages
No guns or even gunpowder
Magic: Magic is relatively rare in the Northern Lands, with only around 1 or 2 people in every 100 being born with gifted blood. As a rule, it is more likely to inherit magic from ones bloodline but is not always the case. A mage could have a child with no magical ability, whereas a ‘normal person’ could have a child that is a mage. A lot is still not known about magic, but it is widely accepted that magic was once far more prominent. It’s said that in ancient times there were cities far greater than the ones standing today, but that powerful mages led the world into destruction and ruin before they were almost wiped out. Indeed, even now people are suspicious of magic and have every right to be; there are always cases and stories of mages doing evil things behind closed doors.
Those with gifted blood might not ever know that they are a mage, as their powers are not easily manifested and controlled. Many only find out by accident, often because they are put in a life or death situation when they first use magic. Others might learn from parents, or come across tomes or artefacts that teach them spells. Once a mage realises their power they may be able to train and master simple energy manifestations (energy bolts) or telekinesis. Other than this, unless a mage is taught or finds tomes or artefacts, it will require years of concentration and practice before they are able to perform a wider range of spells. That said, the learning curve tends to gain momentum as the mage learns more; meaning the more powerful a mage is, the more likely they are to learn more. This tends to results in mages being either fairly harmless or very dangerous, with few in-between. Mainstream Religion: The Old Pantheon This is perhaps the oldest living religion in the known world. Followers of the Pantheon tend to believe in codes of honour and strength, amongst other old beliefs and traditions. It comprises of six gods in three marriages. These are as follows:
Lord Ruo, God of Earth, and Lady Shia, God of Wind
Lord Kai, God of Fire, and Lady Wae, God of Water
Lord Dorn, God of Darkness, and Lady Sol, God of Light
None of these deities are considered to be good or evil in themselves, and they are all believed to have come together to create life. Therefore they are all equal, although typically families will only really pray to one or two patron gods.
Priests of the Old Pantheon say that magic should not be feared, but rather accepted, and so will often take in those born with abilities and train them to be healers. Despite this many are still suspicious when they see magic, and there have been many events that give them reason to be.
The Church of Light The Church of Light is a relatively new religion (at least where the Northern Lands are concerned), but seems to be spreading quickly. It believes that there is only one true God, the God of Light, and that all others are demons or shams. Its followers are taught by priests to be hostile towards believers in other religions, although obviously not all adopt such fanatic views. Followers of this religion have a particular disliking of Lady Sol, and call her ‘The Great Imposter’. There have been incidents recently where fanatics have desecrated temples of Sol and committed brutal crimes against her followers. As such this has given rise to some tension amongst communities.

Sir Chester is just short of 6ft, with an average frame and strong toned muscles. He has light brown eyes that give nothing away, and above them thick dark eyebrows that are often slightly furrowed. His hair is short and black and extends into a neat trimmed beard which is now adorned with streaks of silver. He has several small scars on his face that for the most part are unnoticeable. Under his clothes however, you will find that he is covered in dozens of scars both large and small that he has amassed over the years. Some of these are from his childhood abuse but many are from the wars; in most cases he is unable to recall where each originated.
He wears a hauberk and chausses, over which he wears a purple and gold tabard to signify his allegiance. In addition to this he wears knee high plate boots, plate gauntlets, and a leather belt on which he tends to keep his sword and other necessities. He needs a new helmet but is very fussy when it comes to picking one out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Full Name】 Arthur James Chester
【Alias】 Sir Chester
【Gender】 Male
【Age】 44
【Sexuality】 Straight
【Birth Place】 Torleston, a small village on the Southern Coast
【Nation/Allegiance】 Kingdom of Vasili
【Profession】 Knight of the King’s Table and Deputy Leader of the Consano
Sir Cester is a very disciplined man, and some would perhaps describe him as aloof. He is not the kind of man that will openly discuss his past or personal life and given that he can’t really talk about his job, means that he doesn’t really say an awful lot. He does have a sense of humour, though he tries to hide it; if you look out for it you might see the edges of his lips curl slightly whenever a joke his made.
Those that work with him often find him to be a rock of sorts, able to provide guidance and willing to kick your arse in the right direction if you start to stray from the task at hand. Despite his austere nature, he is very loyal and willing to put his own safety on the line to save a comrade. He believes firmly in notions of chivalry and honour, and is a worshiper of the Old Pantheon. He has a dislike of the Church of Light, but tries not to hold it against its followers… that is until they start preaching to him. He finds it hard to trust mages because of his father and because of the stories he has heard.
Until recently Sir Chester spent most of his time by King Barius’ side, and in the last couple of years even became his confidant. He sees Barius not only as his King and the man he’s sworn to protect, but as a good friend too. It is because of this that he was hesitant to join the Consano and leave his guarding duties to another.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【History】 Sir Chester cannot remember much about his early childhood, with most of his memories either being supressed or simply blown away with time. What he does remember is that he was born Arthur Ellis, and that his mother and father were both mages. His father was a cruel man, and saw Arthur as more of a project than a son. He would try to make Arthur learn magic from a young age, and when he failed he would beat him severely. His mother was not much better, for she herself would blame Arthur when she was beaten herself. In truth, given the severity of the abuse he received, he was lucky to have not died at an early age.
The tipping point in Arthur’s life came when he was nine years old. He had still shown no signs of gifted blood, and his father could no longer take it. Enraged, his father came to the conclusion that Arthur could not be his son, and accused his wife of cheating. She pleaded with her husband but it was no use, for with one devastating spell he burned her alive. Even to this day Arthur can clearly remember her agonising screams and the fear he felt. His father then turned on him, saying that unless he could manifest magic to protect himself that he would meet the same fate as his mother. But he could not. Arthur did not have gifted blood and he would never be capable of magic feats. He would have died that night by his father’s hand were it not for the timely intervention of an elderly guard, named James Chester, who sunk a sword through his father’s spine.
The guard took responsibility of James, as hard as it was (he did kill his father after all), and over the years the two grew close. James Chester was more of a father to Arthur than his real dad ever was. Arthur spent the rest of his childhood and his teenage years living with his adoptive father, being trained in the way of the sword and listening to old war stories. Not long after Arthur’s eighteenth birthday, James passed away peacefully and left his entire estate to his adoptive son. Arthur, wanting to follow in James footsteps, joined the military under the new name Arthur James Chester.
For seventeen years Arthur James Chester served in the army, most of which was spent in the North fighting the tribes. By the time Cain had rallied together the Tribal Alliance, Chester had reached the rank of Centurion and had grown into a fine young leader and soldier. He was there at the capturing of Fort Cain, and was personally responsible for the capture of Chief Urgnot. Because of this he was recognised as a promising officer, and only a few years later was promoted to the rank of Legate (a few years ahead of average age for the rank).
When the Invasion of Dawn began, he and his men were amongst those that suddenly came under the direct command of King Barius. At first he thought this would lead the army to disaster, but was surprised at the King’s wisdom and willingness to hear the advice of his officers. Unfortunately all the wisdom and advice in the Kingdom could not have prevented the massacre known as the Battle of Chalk. When King Barius’ army first landed on the chalk covered beaches of the White Coast, there was little resistance by the defending forces. They believed that they had successfully flanked the forces of Dawn, while the bulk of their fleet attacked the Northern Coast. But this was not the case. Somehow the Kingdom of Dawn had discovered their plan and set an ambush which they hoped would allow them to decimate the army and kill the king. Vasili forces were outnumbered 4:1 and were fighting on unfamiliar land – they stood no chance. It was in this battle that Chester would earn his knighthood, for he fought at the King’s very side and saved him from multiple foes. Eventually he and his best men were able to rescue the king and retreat back into the sea.
Since then he has served as the King’s personal and most trusted guard. The fact that he has been sent to help the Consano shows that although resources have not been put towards it, the King does have faith in it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Skills and Abilities】 Sir Chester is a veteran soldier and officer, and has seen more battle than most. As a result he is able to keep a cool head in battle and does not flinch in the face of death. He is a strong, although not so charismatic, leader capable of leading thousands of men.
In regards to combat he is one of the best swordsmen in the Kingdom, and whilst he has not seen combat in a few years, he continues to train daily with the Royal Guards. He is able to use a long sword very well, but normally goes for an arming sword and shield. He can fire a bow, but not particularly well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Weapons/Tools and Magic】 Weapons/Tools Chester’s Arming Sword – A steel sword which he inherited off of his adoptive father. It remained locked away in a chest throughout his military career, for he did not want to risk losing or destroying it. However after becoming the King’s Guard he decided to start using it again, because he knew that his father would be proud that his sword stood by the King himself. Heater Shield – Chester uses a wooden heater shield that was a parting gift from the king. It is painted purple, and has the Sigil of House Vasili printed in gold on its front. Its edges are trimmed with real gold; not that it helps with protection.
Magical Spells Chester has absolutely no magical abilities.
Character Theme –I am the one --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lady Buxton stands at 5ft9 and has a pale, yet healthy, completion. She is of average build for her height, but is athletic with strong toned muscles. Although not curvy and somewhat ‘warrioress’, her figure still catches the eyes of many men. Her sleek jet black hair contrasts her icy skin and drapes down over her muscular shoulders when it is not tied into a tail. Her brown eyes are dark like her hair and look almost black in poor light.
As for clothing, she prefers to wear lighter armour. Currently she wears a white collared tunic beneath a dark leather moulded cuirass. On top of this she wears a long leather coat that stretches down to her knees. Below the waist she wears black cloth trousers and leather boots that reach up to her knees. In addition to all of this she wears a belt on which she carries a few small pouches full of various necessities.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Full Name】 Katrina Buxton of House Vasili
Lady Buxton’s warm personality deeply contrasts the cold climate that she inhabits. Her charisma and wit makes her a very likable person, and with her strong will and cool head she is also a great leader. She holds herself like a commoner rather than a noble, walking with a bounce in her step rather than a stick up her arse. Even her voice lacks the refined accent one expects from royalty, and is instead filled with the kind of lewd comments that one expects from a soldier; something which her mother blames her father for. She seems to treat no person differently to next unless she is given reason.
As friendly as she is, one would be foolish to think of her as dim-witted or a push-over. Behind her smile is cunning mind, one that is always asking questions and seeking to see the truth. And like both her father and mother, her will can be indomitable, especially when her morals are put to the test.
She is the kind of leader that recognises that a team is made up of individuals, and that each one is just as important as the figure they follow. As such she strives to ensure her men are at their best, in every respect, and as such will often learn everything there is to learn about everyone under her command.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【History】 Katrina Buxton was born in the city of Cliffton and was the second child of Bree Vasili and Richard ‘The Bear’ Buxton. Her mother was the sister of King Barius and she became the Countess of Cliffton not long after Katrina was born. Her father, Richard, came from a long line of Dragon Hunters and became well known throughout the Kingdom when he vanquished Turaung, the last dragon to be seen in the Kingdom.
It was obvious from a young age that Katrina took after her father and not her mother, as opposed to her older brother Randolf. Whilst Randolf was content to be led into a life of aristocracy and follow high-class norms, Katrina was certainly not. Whilst her brother would be learning to court-room manners she would be scaling the castle walls or flinging around a sword that she shouldn’t have gotten hold of. Whilst this displeased her mother, her father was delighted and he was more than eager to mould his daughter into a little dragon hunter. Throughout her childhood she was not only mentored by scholars, she was taught by her father to fight.
When she in her teens her father began taking her out to the mountains to train like the local soldiers did. The high elevation allowed her to greater strengthen her lungs and legs, and she soon became as fit and disciplined as any elite soldier. It was not just her body that grew strong either; Katrina blossomed into a charismatic woman, who never wavered in her convictions.
Her training with her father sadly came to an end shortly after turning eighteen, as he passed away one night in his sleep. The healers told the family that it was his old wounds that finally caught up to him. Not only did this devastate Katrina emotionally, it also threw her plans of joining the military into the air. Like many royals she planned on joining the army as an officer, hoping to one day lead one of her uncle’s armies. After her father’s death however, her family wanted her close by and so she resigned to joining the City Watch instead. She spent eight years as a Watch Officer being mentored and groomed by the Captain of the Watch, before finally taking his place following his retirement. Of course there were other Watch Officers with more experience than her, who could no doubt have done a better job, but all were loyal and none spoke out against her accession.
For four years she would serve as the Captain of the Guard whilst her mother continued to run the city, and for the most part everything ran smoothly. The beasts of the wilds were kept far from the city walls, few went without food, and fewer still resorted to crime. Indeed Cliffton remained one of the most prosperous and pleasant places in the Kingdom… or at least that was until the Temple of Sol was desecrated. Followers of the Church of Light stormed the Temple that laid outside the city, cutting down the men and raping the women and children to death. People became outraged at the Watch’s failure to prevent the massacre, and religious tensions skyrocketed in the local region. Few around Cliffton prayed to the Lord of Light, and so witch hunts quickly began. It was at this point that King Barius became involved; he wanted to bring a swift end to the tension before it could spread and reign chaos throughout his lands. Because she was his niece and in a prime position to deal with the situation, King Barius knighted Lady Buxton, believing that it would take more than a simple Watch Captain to deal with such a sensitive issue.
In order to focus purely on the investigation, Lady Buxton resigned as Captain and put all her own resources into finding the real culprits of the crime. For the last four months she has spent all her time trying to find answers, but has only yielded questions. Every lead she has followed has led to a dead end, sometimes quite literally, and it would seem that there is something much bigger at play here. Now, with the sudden emergence of the plague, she has put her investigation on hold and has convinced the King to let her deal with this threat instead. Given the timings, she also wonders whether or not the two investigations are somehow linked.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Skills and Abilities】 With a strong personality and good education to boot, Lady Buxton is somewhat of a natural leader amongst others. Her years spent in the City Watch have only strengthened this trait, and there are few that know her that would not follow her. In addition to this, she is a keen strategist and even now finds delight in beating her brother at chess.
She has been trained to fight with many weapons, but she only excels when she is using polearms. Her weapon of choice is the Guandao, and she fights with both acrobatic grace and frightening speed. She can use a bow too, but not so well that she bothers to carry one.
She has an incredibly high level of fitness, and due to her training in the mountains is a good climber and as sure footed as a mountain goat. As an extension of this she is a fairly capable free-runner, although most skilled assassins and thieves will leave her in the dust.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Weapons/Tools and Magic】 Weapons/Tools Ornate Guandao – Lady Buxton received this Guandao as a leaving present from her mother. It is about a centimetre shorter than her, and is surprisingly light for the type of weapon (although still fairly heavy overall). The shaft itself is made of wood, and over this are layers of painted bronze that makes an image of a dragon rising through flames. This bronze is not just for aesthetics; it also adds some protection to the staff. The blade is made of cast iron and has also been crafted to make it look like it is covered in fire.
Two small daggers – Lady Buxton also carries on her two small bronze daggers. One in each boot.

Follow RPG rules. This should pretty much sum up most things for most people. This is an RP, not a porno. Respect others. Don’t fucking swear too much. Don’t be dicks to each other. Respect the GMs (and other players… but mostly the GMs). You get the picture.
When you post your CS please include “I love your milkshakes” at the bottom of it to show you have read the rules.
Killing NPCs is fine, unless they are key NPCs (meaning they are notable ones or form a big part of a plotline). You can kill player characters once you have gained permission from the character’s owner and a GM.
Keep grammar standards high. If you post terrible grammar you will receive a strike. Three strikes and you are out of the RP.
Please alert the RP or the GMs of any expected absences. If you are away for more than one week the GMs may take control of your character. I did once try to implement a rule where if you didn’t post every so often you were kicked from the RP but that didn’t seem to work (mostly because I was away more than anyone else!)
The Black Blood Plague The plague has quickly been working its way down from the far North, causing masses of people to desperately retreat south. The origin is unknown, but priests seem to think it’s been caused by dark magic, rather than nature. The plague was first sighted in Falkreach seven weeks ago, and the main horde has just reached Minorhold. There are however infected all over the place, but in much smaller numbers (for now).
The Plague is not airborne, but can be transferred through liquids (including blood, water and piss). The most common method of infection has so far been by biting, as the infected have become mindless and cannibalistic. These infected are more akin to the type of zombies you see in 28 Days, rather than Shaun of the Dead. The stronger and faster the host, the more dangerous they are once infected. They are most dangerous when they first become aggressive, as they are in peak condition and still have a moderate degree of intelligence. They do seem to whither over time, but they sustain strength due to the magic and through eating when they can. They are able to take a lot of punishment and the only sure way to take them down so far has been by destroying the brain or by using magic.
The timeline of infection is as follows:
Thirty minutes after infection – blood starts to thicken and blacken, with veins and skin becoming darker
After one hour – infected becomes more hostile, becoming paranoid and snapping easily
One and a half hour – infected is struck by unbelievable hunger and is likely to start attacking others
Two hours later – By this time the infected is no longer able to communicate and has fully turned
There is no individual cure. The source must be found.
The Consano is a small group dedicated to investigating the Black Blood Plague, finding the source and with any luck, ending it. They have been commissioned by the King Barius and are being led by two of his trusted knights, Lady Buxton and Ser Chester. Unfortunately, whilst the King does pray they are successful, he has followed the advice of the court and his advisors and decided to invest all the Kingdom’s resources into protecting the cities and invading Dawn.
Other than a small bit of funding, the only other piece of help they’ve received is in the form of a decree that has been sent out all over the Kingdom. This decree states that all citizens must aid the Consano and must not do anything to hinder the investigation. For the most part this is unlikely to do much, especially as other decrees have gone out saying that all able bodies are to conscript.
Annoyingly, the Consano has been forced to accept the sponsorship of various private individuals, including a slave trader named Orwen.
In the recent past there have been several notable events. Some which are listed here:
13 years ago the North Star Cathedral, the Church of Light's main base in Dawn, was burned to the ground. This raised existing tensions between the Church and the few people that still worshiped the Old Pantheon in Dawn. Since then Old Pantheon worship has been practically outlawed and has drastically declined.
Five months ago the Temple of Sol, just outside of Cliffton, was desecrated by followers of the Church of Light. The men were cut down, and the women and children were raped and beaten to death. The Church of Light has condemned these actions and have themselves placed rewards for anyone that can provide information on the culprits. Still, this has further raised tensions between devout followers of the two religions.
Nine years ago, the Kingdom of Dawn erected three forts along the Northern Channel. It was believed this was in reaction to the growing pirate activity along the coast.
Just under nine years ago the Kingdom of Vasili begun an invasion of Dawn. The first major battle was the Battle of the Chalk, where Dawnish forces ambushed an army led by King Barius himself and caused them to retreat back across the channel. There have been many temporary ceasefires since, but every now and then the Kingdom of Vasili will launch another attack and cause the violence to erupt again.
80 years ago the ancient underground settlement of Titus was rediscovered by the Kingdom of Vasili. Tribesmen that were previously native to the area never went near it due to superstition. It has since grown into a prosperous mining town.
25 years ago the last confirmed dragon seen in the Kingdom was slain by Richard 'The Bear' Buxton. As the Kingdom has grown and it's armies become more deadly, dragons have appeared less and less. Some people say they have continued to see dragons in the mountains, the Far North and the Grey Islands, but nothing has been verified.
18 years ago the Northern Tribes formed an alliance under the leadership of a warrior chief named Cain. However he was assassinated from his own ranks in a very thorough and gruesome way. First he was poisoned, which sapped at his strength and stamina. Then, when he tried to make his way to a healer he was shot by six arrows. To ensure the job was finished, a man named Tanner then got in close and slit his throat. Tanner was captured and tortured, and his name has since been used as an insult among tribesman.
Following the assassination of Cain, the tribal alliance began to crumble and quickly the Kingdom of Vasili swooped in and overtook Fort Cain, effectively ending the uprising. There has been little conflict between the tribes and the Kingdom since then because the tribes are once again scattered and do not pose a threat.
That said, the learning curve tends to gain momentum as the mage learns more; meaning the more powerful a mage is, the more likely they are to learn more. This tends to results in mages being either fairly harmless or very dangerous, with few in-between.
Mainstream Religion: Whilst there does exist various religions, cults and sets of beliefs, most people in the Northern Lands believe in either one of two religions: The Old Pantheon or The Church of Light. Over the last few decades there has been growing tensions between followers of the two, which exacerbated by a couple of particular events. In the Kingdom of Dawn worshipping the Old Pantheon has been practically outlawed, as those that do are often shunned from communities, attacked and even on some occasions killed. In the Kingdom of Vasili the tensions are not so dire, with many people trying their hardest to respect the beliefs of others, but there are still incidents and the tensions are likely to worsen as more convert to the Church.
The Old Pantheon This is perhaps the oldest living religion in the known world. Followers of the Pantheon tend to believe in codes of honour and strength, amongst other old beliefs and traditions. It comprises of six gods in three marriages. These are as follows:
Lord Ruo, God of Earth, and Lady Wae, God of Water
Lord Kai, God of Fire, and Lady Shia, God of Wind
Lord Dorn, God of Darkness, and Lady Sol, God of Light
None of these deities are considered to be good or evil in themselves, and they are all believed to have come together to create life. Therefore they are all equal, although typically families will only really pray to one or two patron gods. Worshippers may erect their own small shrines within their home, or may visit a community shrine or temple. Community shrines are found mostly in the smaller towns and villages, and will normally consist of a statue or artefact in the centre of a town (typically by a tree or similar landmark). Temples are also found dotted around the Northern Lands, with each God having at least one temple somewhere. These temples tend to be found in solitary locations but have their own small communities of priests and priestesses. Occasionally one may come across a temple dedicated to a couple (e.g. Ruo and Wae), and these are considered to be very holy sites.
The Old Pantheon teaches three things above all else: Balance, Loyalty and Strength. These things can be interpreted and practiced in a number of ways. Balance is considered by many to mean the balance between mankind and nature, as well balance between man and woman. Loyalty is practiced by devotion to the gods, by keeping oaths, and by being loyal to ones friends and family. Strength means something different for everyone; for some people means being brave, or standing up for the weak, but to many it can simply mean being able to crush a man’s skull.
Its followers are actually taught by some priests to be hostile towards believers in other religions, although obviously not all adopt such fanatic views. Followers of this religion have a particular disliking of Lady Sol, and call her ‘The Great Imposter’. There have been incidents recently where fanatics have desecrated temples of Sol and committed brutal crimes against her followers. As such this has given rise to some tension amongst communities.
The history of this religion is fairly unknown, although its relatively young. The Church actively seek to root out documentation of the religion, and would have people believe that the religion has always existed and been present everywhere.
Most of their teaching come from Holy Scripture, in particular a book named ‘The Word of Light’. These teachings can be perceived differently by different people, and most simply rely on their priests to give them guidance and clarity. The wiser believers of this religion do not take the teachings literally, but rather look for the truths of the messages within the text. It is said that he gave us life and that all he wishes in return is for us to love him, and to act with ‘moral fortitude’ (which yes, is a very subjective term). This mostly means that followers must regularly pray to him and only him. In extension many argue it means that they should stop others from worshipping false Gods, lest they bring down God’s wrath on everyone. In regards to ‘Moral Fortitude’, many perceive this as being kind to others, ensuring retributive justice is served, and punishing those than engage in unsavoury acts (such as pre-marital sex).
According to scripture, The Lord of Light created all existence and life in a single moment, and that he taught the first men and women right from wrong. It is said that for thousands of years mankind was peaceful and perfect, with everyone following the Lord’s teachings as they should. But then, in heaven, corruption begun to spread. It is said that the souls of the dead, simply from being in the Lord’s presence, found themselves with magical abilities. This in itself was a gift and was not a bad thing, but then a few grew greedy and foul. It is said that these few escaped heaven and went back to the mortal plane where they pretended to be gods. Overtime people began to believe in these false idols and new religions developed; and thus people grew evil and waged wars. These false gods gave their magic onto their followers so that they could create more evil. Scripture says that it is the duty of the truly faithful to stop the worshipping of these false gods, which they call demons, and to root out all magic. Fortunately believers in the North aren’t, for the most part, so fanatic and have grown to understand and respect other religions and magic.
There are no small shrines or icons in this religion, as worshippers believe that such things are too small and significant to show their affection. Instead worshippers pray at highly decorated churches and cathedrals. Churches tend to be found all over the place, but there is never more than one Cathedral a country. North of the channel in the Kingdom of Vasili there is no Cathedral, and only in Sovereign, Southarbour and Minorhold are there even churches.
Priests may either roam around as Baptists or missionaries, or run a local Church. Above the rank of priests are the Archbishops, who reside in the Cathedrals. Archbishops the religious leaders in each country and often have a tremendous amount of power and influence. The Archbishops are collectively known as the Circle of Light. The leader of the Circle of Light is The Grand Cleric, who is much akin to a pope. The Grand Cleric is voted in by the circle and resides in the Moutain Citadel, which is located in Thawn (over a thousand miles to the South-West).
The Northern Lands
This map does not include villages and the like, and 'uncharted' means what it says. To give an idea of scale, it take around 7 days on foot or 2/3 days on horse to travel from the Cross Roads to Minorhold.
The Kingdom of Vasili The Kingdom of Vasili was formed over 600 years ago when a tribal leader named Vasili conquered the neighbouring tribes and the entire South-West of the Celtobar Peninsular (everything down and left of where The Cross Roads now stand). Since then the House of Vasili has continued to expand and now arguably holds the entire Peninsular, although the various tribes to the North would probably dispute this.
More recently, under King Barius, the Kingdom has launched an aggressive attack against the Kingdom of Dawn in an attempt to expand south. The reasons for this seem somewhat unclear, but many speculate that it’s because Dawn’s lands are more fertile or because they are unwilling to share their technological advancements. Whatever the reason, it has been a mostly unsuccessful campaign and now many curse it because they are unable to flee south.
In terms of architecture, its towns and cities tend to boast grand wooden structures and halls, designed to hold as many people as possible. In the cities and forts you are likely to find strategically placed stone structures, like giant walls and strong castles. The style in many cases is somewhat Nordic, with carvings decorating the woodwork, and statues adorning the roof edges. Many houses tend to have a warm feeling to them, especially in comparison to the cold outside.
Religion in the North is mixed. Most pray to the old pantheon, although some tribes pray to variants of it. Recently many have begun following the Church of Light, but they only make up a minority of the population.
The yellow trim indicates positions that attend the royal court. Counts, which are typically chosen from the Royal Family, are put in charge of cities. The town watch, was acts in both a military and policing function, answers to the Count but can in curtain circumstances be led by a Commander. The rank of Commander is the highest military position in the Kingdom, and those that bear it are put in charge of entire armies. Below them are Legates that may command up to a thousand men, and below them are the Centurions, which may command up to a hundred men. At the bottom of the military are the Soldiers and the Slave Soldiers. In equal stance to the Royal Family are the Knights of the King’s Table. Rarely are people knighted in the kingdom, and those that do are branded with the King’s Sigil. Knights can have any background in theory, but often are comprised of Counts, Royals or Commanders.
The terms “King’s Table” and “Knights Table” are interchangeable and mean the same thing. This small order originally served as the King’s personal guard (and in some cases still do), but over time have come to serve more as trusted agents. The Royal Guard are now mostly responsible for protecting the King and the Giant’s Crown. The Royal Guard are chosen from long serving members of the military or Sovereigns Town Watch, with the emphasis being more on loyalty than experience.
Sovereign is the Capital of the Kingdom of Vasili, and is the biggest known settlement north of the channel. Its oldest building is the castle, Giant’s Crown, which was built around 300 years ago. Giant’s Crown is an intimidating site; built upon a hill, surrounded by large stone walls, it comprises of a ring of six tall spiked towers and a dome in its centre. It is covered in ancient scorch marks from a weak dragon attack, but stands strong nonetheless. The city is built up around the castle, gradually going downhill on every side. To the west is it’s harbour, once separate, which is now conjoined by hundreds of houses in between.
The quality of life varies drastically in the city, with the lords in high town (the area surrounding the keep) living comfortably within the outer stone walls, the traders and skilled persons living moderately within the palisade, and the poorest living everywhere else. Rat Town is considered the worst place in Sovereign, for it is cramped, dank and full of crime; it’s also where the majority of the refugees have tried to settle.
Rough map of Sovereign. Light green indicates farmland. Dark green indicates urban areas (housing, etc.).
Cliffton is a city built upon the edges of a steep sea-side cliff, thus the name. The terrain in the area is very rocky and uneven, with the feet of the mountains close by. It used to be the capital of the empire, as its geography made it generally hard to approach. As such, it is a moderately well-built city and many would argue that those living there have on average the highest quality of life of anywhere in the Kingdom. Soldiers from Cliffton are considered to be the elite (or at least the fittest) because they are vigorously trained in the mountains and are often able to buy top-notch equipment because of the mines and local craftsmen.
The Cross Roads is a large town that sits on the main roads from Sovereign, Southarbour, Minorhold and Titus. It has become somewhat of a trading hub, and many come here wishing to make riches or try one of the dozens of great pubs and inns. As well as buying most goods here, those with enough coin can purchase a variety of services from the local crime gangs (including assassinations).
Southarbour is the Kingdom’s largest harbour and is the centre of operations for the invasion of Dawn. Hundreds of ships are built here, and any skilled worker is likely to find themselves a job. Those that don’t can easily find themselves a job in the military. Not only is this place a hub of war, but it is also the only place in the Kingdom where slaves are legal, making this a rather a dark place to say the least. Here, criminals and the like are legally allowed to be kept as slaves for the sole purpose of ship construction or pit fighting. Those that are unlucky enough to be chosen as pit fighters are forced to battle to the death in the Ash Pit, a large man-made hole that serves as an arena. The best that Pit Fighters can hope for is an easy death, or for a military officer to buy them into the army.
Minorhold is a somewhat unremarkable city. Its keep is well fortified, its people fed, and no one is overly well off nor poor. It serves as a strategic point, but it is miles away from any conflict… or at least it was. Minorhold is the latest city that the plague has reached, but it appears to be holding strong.
Rough map of Sovereign. Light green indicates farmland. Dark green indicates urban areas (housing, etc.).
Titus an ancient settlement built into the side of a mountain. 90% of it is underground and it was only rediscovered about 80 years ago. Tribal people never went anywhere near it because of folklore, but since being reclaimed by the Kingdom there have been no incidents or reasons to suggest that anything foul was afoot; although why it was abandoned in the first place is still a mystery. Everything here is made of stone, which although is uncomfortable, is somewhat balanced by the fact that there are gold mines further in. The place is illuminated by candle, brazier, and glowshrooms. It is unclear whether or not it has held against the plague, but it seems unlikely.
Fort Cain is a large wooden fort and military base that was seized off a tribal alliance two decades ago. It has since attracted a few traders and inn keeps, but remains a mostly militarised location. Fort Cain was abandoned when the plague was first sighted, and its army was mostly directed to Southarbour.
Whilst tribal settlements like Boulder Town and Falkreach are known to the Kingdom, only tribal refuges will really be able to provide much detail on them. A few tribes do not even have settlements and are completely nomadic.
The Other Northern Lands
The Kingdom of Dawn control the lands south of the Northern Channel and are currently defending themselves from the Kingdom of Vasili. In comparison to their enemy, they have just as many men but with better training and technology. They have so far been more than capable of repelling the invaders but have not attempted to launch any sort of a counter attack; only rarely will they attack a fort or harbour on the North side of the channel. Since news of the Plague has spread they have mobilised a massive fleet to rigorously protect their borders. No ships, be it a military vessel or a fishing boat, have been allowed to cross; any that try are either sunk or burned.
The current rulers are King Deximus and Queen Hayley, who jointly rule and share power. Their tradition states that no heir may ascend to the throne until they are suitably married, then they must share the control with their spouse. It is believed that Dawn is a mostly passive Kingdom, with little desire to expand. It’s also believed to be at peace with its Eastern Neighbour (The State of Florine), and is in an alliance with its southern one (The Kingdom of Thermos).
Their architecture is very similar to Byzantine architecture. They now have many Churches of Light, having fully adopted the religion; those who do not follow it are often punished and shunned from communities (although it does not hold a death sentence).
There are around six known major tribes remaining in the North (not including the uncharted Far North), a small number in comparison to what their once was. These tribes are relatively small and have over the last century been forced to put aside their differences to hold off the expansion of the Kingdom. Technically these tribes are not at war with the Kingdom because they are not recognised as states, nor do they regularly clash swords. Over than the odd skirmish here and there, combat has been fairly absent over the last two decades (since the capturing of Fort Cain). This is all in the past though, as their lands have now been completely overrun by the blight, and many families have fled south.
Most tribes pray to variations of the Old Pantheon, and believe firmly in honour and warrior codes.
The Grey Islands are a mystery to most, as the waters surrounding them are ferocious and full of rocks; many that try to reach them crash and either die or find themselves unable to get back. It is believed that the islands are inhabited, and there are many rumours that claim that it is a place filled with mages. Some even say that dragons live there, but this seems unlikely (though not impossible).
The Far North describes the land north of Falkreach and beyond the Icy Spine (the massive mountain range), which remains uncharted. There are many reasons that most do not venture there, but the two biggest reasons are as follows: the tribes to the North of Falkreach are incredibly barbaric and even scare the other tribes; and because the only other way involves a near impossible trek over the Icy Spine. It’s likely that these lands are mostly covered in Snow, and are probably host to many dangerous animals. Legends and folklore say that these lands are in a state of ever darkness, and that they are filled with monsters like giants and dragons.
THIS IS ONLY A ROUGH GUIDE! The currency in many Kingdoms is gold (and silver and bronze), with the state imposing their own seals upon their countries currency. For example in Vasili you will find gold peices with the House of Vasili crest. A coins value may slightly change from country to country depending on the quality of that country's metals (e.g. A Vasili gold coin is worth a bit more than a Wouden gold coin). Hallmarking is also a thing.
A loaf of fresh bread will probably cost you about 5/6 bronze coins. A poor quality sword will cost around 15-20 gold pieces. A decent sword can cost in excess of 50 gold pieces. A full set of plate armour will cost you over 1000 gold pieces (although tbf plate armour is incredibly rare at this time, at least in the North). This is just a rough guide of course. Most people are willing to trade in items and favours as much as they are gold.
Dragons – Dragons exist all over the world and come in many different shapes and sizes. Fortunately for the citizens of the Kingdom of Vasili, the last confirmed dragon sighting was over two decades ago. In the north they are certainly more akin to the western style ones, being large and fairly dull in terms of colour. Whilst some breathe fire, most breathe icy breath that is just as lethal. They are very solitary creatures and little is known about how they mate. Much in the same way wild animals have learned to run away from human hunters, dragons have learned to stay away from large human settlements (especially as technology as advanced). Even so, it is still strange that dragons have declined so drastically.
Common Ice Wyvern – The most likely species of dragon likely to be encountered in the Northern Lands, these beasts have two large wings and a single pair of strong legs. They can grow up to twenty feet in length (head to end of tail), and will use their wings to support themselves when grounded or walking. They are pale and dull coloured, with most being shades of grey, and have a collection of horns running down their head, spine and tail. Their hide is tough all over, but it can be penetrated anywhere with a decent enough thrust of a sword. They breathe an icy mist that is enough to freeze any man to death.
Common Fire Wyvern – This species of wyvern is almost identical to its ice counterpart. The only difference are that: they are ever so slightly smaller; they come in much brighter colours; they are seen more in the south (but can be seen occasionally as far north as Dawn); and they breathe fire rather than ice.
Great White – These mythical monstrosities are the things of legend. It is said that these colossal dragons reside far far in the Uncharted North and feed off smaller dragons. According to folk lore they have four legs, two wings able to block out the sun, and are five times the size of the Common Ice Wyvern. They say that their scales glisten white like pearls, and that their four eyes sparkle like diamonds. Worse still, it is said that they breathe blue fire so hot that it can melt stone.
The Aži – These wyverns inhabit the deserts to the far south. They are skinnier than their northern counterparts, yet their muscles are much stronger. They have thinner hides that are tanned and sand coloured. Their heads are much smaller but they have instead large elongated jaws with longer pointier teeth. They lack tails and their two legs sit at their back, making them more aerodynamic flyers. Their claws, on both their feet and wings, are incredibly sharp and are used to grab and tear at their victims. They tend to fly in packs of three or four, but fortunately do not breathe fire. Only the Queens, which are rare and about three times the size, breathe fire. The queens are too heavy to fly, but they can glide if need be.
Dragon Birds – Small pathetic hybrids that keep to the mountains in the south. According to folklore there was once a fire wyvern named Mualim that was weaker and more pathetic than all its kin, and could not find a mate. It is said that Mualim decided therefore to sneak into the nests of the giant eagles and fertilised the eggs, giving creation to the deformed dragon birds. These mutants are small dragons covered in both scales and feathers, which live fairly short lives. No taller than the average human, they are the least threatening race of dragons, but can still be deadly. They have weak fire breath, but can sometimes set their own feathers and skin alight.
Giant spiders – In the most rural forests one may come across networks of giant spiders. These spiders are venomous, but their poison is easily treatable; the problem is that they are likely to overpower you and eat you alive. For centuries, the military has conducted routine culls whenever giant spiders are seen near towns or villages.
Vuhkema – According to tribal folklore, dark creatures live deep below the mountains. They are said to look like spiders, but longer and thinner, with sharp black claws for arms. It is also said that their faces resemble twisted female faces, with long open jaws filled with dozens of rows of razor like teeth.
Sakomodo – Large serpents of the sea, these monsters can stretch up to 400m long and have incredibly tough hides. These serpents live in deep waters and will almost never rise above the surface. If they decide to attack the ship, they will do so from the bottom and let it slowly sink. Only three have ever been killed, and only through the use of magic. One of these was dragged back to a kingdom in the south and it is said that some of the world’s finest armour was made from the hide.
Fairies – Little sprites that are, to be blunt, little bastards. They are furry little flying things with four eyes and sharp teeth, and come in a variety of different colours. They have about as much intelligence as your average earth monkey, and thoroughly enjoy annoying humans. Whilst most people think they are harmless, the truth is that if they are able, they will kill and eat humans and other animals. They are normally only found in deep forests, and the best way to kill them is with fire.
It is possible that the characters below aren’t even encountered in the RP, but they are likely important either to the plot or the characters in this RP. NPCs made by players will probably be added here as time goes on. Players are welcome to submit characters to add to this list.
King Barius
The ruling monarch of the Kingdom of Vasili, this 55 year old has sat on the throne for the last twenty odd years. He is a large set man whose once muscular physique has now turned soft and flabby. Although it would be harsh to call him fat, his belly certainly seems to be growing ever larger with each passing year. His hair neatly drops down to his shoulders, and his locks are now more silver than gold. He always keeps well shaven save for his white goatee. His eyes are a very light blue.
Like his father before him, he has embraced the idea that he comes from a line founded by a great warrior and has tried to carry on this legacy. As such he is the kind of King that has, on multiple occasions, personally led armies and been at the front of a charge. Fortunately since become older and fatter he has learned that the fighting is now best left to others. He is strong willed but not particularly stubborn, as he will often listen to council. In fact some argue that he relies too much on the council of others and see this as a weakness. In truth it is because he is smart enough to realise that his crown does not provide him with the answers to everything, and knows that there are many who have the wisdom that he lacks. He is a devout worshiper of the Old Pantheon but does not have a patron God.
Public support for him is somewhat mixed. Although the Kingdom has done well under his leadership, poverty in Sovereign has continued to grow, religious tensions have risen, and many criticise the invasion of Dawn.
Queen Melisa
Queen Melisa is the wife of King Barius and is younger than him by fifteen years, placing her at 40 years old. She is a princess from the Southern Country of Olobama, and is renown for her beauty. She has flawless olive skin and luscious dark hair. Despite this and the large amount of men suicidal enough to try court her, she is believed to be a loyal wife to her husband. She has little to do with the running of the Kingdom, and instead spends her time relaxing in the palace or watching after her two children.
Prince Harry Vasili
The first in line to the throne, the only Son of King Barius has just turned 17 years old. He takes after his father in most respects, but doesn’t seem to have inherited his natural skill with the blade.
General Picard Vasili
The younger brother of King Barius, General Picard is the third in line to the throne. Despite the mountain of rumours, he is loyal to his brother and has little desire to wear the crown. He is in command of the best army in the Kingdom, The 1st Legion. He is 46 years old.
Countess Bree
King Barius’ younger sister, she is the countess of Cliffton. She is believed to be one of the best rulers and the Kingdom, and some have even argued that she would be a better monarch than her brother. She is 50 years old and fourth in line to the throne. Her husband, the legendary Richard ‘The Bear’ Buxton, died some years ago but not before he had two children with her: Randolf and Katrina Buxton.
I started with the royal family but then gave up for the time being :P
The Northern Lands are harsh and unforgiving at the best of times, but now an evil seeps down from the uncharted lands threatening to engulf all that stand in its way. The evil of which I speak? The Black Blood Plague. It corrupts the minds of men and women, adults and children, dogs and beasts, and turns them into mindless cannibals. It is up to you to investigate this scourge, and bring an end to it before it takes everyone you love.
Genre: High fantasy mixed with zombies. High-mystery-fantasy-zombie-apocalypse-survival-thriller-thingy!
The Setting: This RP is set in the fictional fantasy world of Olympus. Set in it’s Northern Lands (as it is referred to in the South), the Celtobar Peninsular has become a rallying point for the Kingdom of Vasili and refugees from the various tribes along its Northern borders.
Now the main cities of Vasili are becoming full of hatred, as refugees clog the streets and increase the chance of the plague breaching the walls. Without the farms being worked, food stores are also declining at a fast rate. This has only deepened existing resentment however, for the Kingdom has fought the tribes for centuries and there is no shortage of bad blood. Even those wanting to flee south are finding it hard, for across the channel is the Kingdom of Dawn, who are currently at war with the Kingdom of Vasili; any ships attempting to cross have been sought out and either sunk or burned.
Desperate, King Barius of House Vasili has withdrawn his troops from the North and has doubled his effort to take the White Coast and expand into the territory of Dawn.
This could be described as 'low-advanced' purely because I myself am a bit shit. But I like reading other people's great quality work, so I expect more from you than myself :P
TL;DR - Medieval fantasy world were there's a magical zombie(-esque) plague sweeping south. Players will be adventurers investigating the plague.
If you are interested then of course say so! If you wish to join then please post a Character Sheet! Please copy and paste the CS Sheet found here, but do not edit it! Once I have accepted your character sheet please post it on this Character Page. ALSO USE HIDERS!!!
@SwarthyBard126@Dondude I'm surprised the two of you haven't moved on to collaborating using something like titan-pad. It might make it easier for you both to add in extra detail and ensure your both on the same page. Just a suggestion :)

I'll try get another post up in the next couple of days
James was sat on an old decrepit sofa in some dark forgotten apartment, the winter chill finding its way through every crack and nook to make the place even more unpleasant. As a result he found himself slumped forwards with his arms tucked in to keep his body slightly warmer. He was nursing a cigarette that seemed to give him little relief; other than the odd night out he wasn’t really a smoker, but he’d found the pack the previous day and at this moment in time thought ’fuck it, why not?’ At this rate the winter nights would soon reach a point where he’d end up freezing to death anyway, so why worry about a little lung damage? With each inhale he felt slightly warmer and a bit more relaxed, at least until he began to choke on fucking thing.
"KHOFF KHOFF KHAK KHAK KHAK KHAK!"
The short spurt of coughing was enough to make his eyes water, and he threw the cigarette a measly foot away in defiance. Only when he finally caught his breathe and recovered from the ordeal did he hear the sounds of groaning from the landing that connected the multiple apartments. ‘The sound of my coughing must have attracted the buggers’ he thought to himself as he quickly picked up his shield and machete. The NYPD riot shield was still in good shape, with no cracks, and only had a slight tinge of red to it (for he regularly tried to clean off any mess that he could). He always held it on his left arm, leaving his dominant right free to hold the machete and deliver some strong thrusts. He approached the door quickly and putting his shoulder up against it for reinforcement, he took a peek through the spy hole. Just the one walker. With a sweeping of his foot, James brushed aside the broken glass that lined up the bottom of the door; he always used crushed up light bulbs in front of doors so that it was harder for anyone to sneak in. Then, after unbolting the door, he quickly whipped it open and met his foe. The zombie lurched forward mindlessly but was held back by James’ shield. James proceeded to push the zombie back and pinned it against a wall before quickly ending it with a quick decisive stab through the eye. Keeping the shield pressed against the zombie he gently lowered the corpse to the floor as to avoid a loud thump. “Just another day” he whispered under his breath before heading back into the lonely darkness of the apartment.
James is a Caucasian male that stands at 6ft1. He is of stocky build, weighing around 14st (give or take a few pounds). He is physically fit and of above average strength and stamina. He tends to sport a crew cut and has dark brown hair, however it has started to grow out. He has dark hazel eyes.
(As in the photo) James wears a white shirt beneath a grey hoody and an old leather jacket that belonged to his father. He’s also wearing some newish jeans that are dark grey in colour, and some black boots. James has some old aviators that he’ll wear if its sunny.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Full Name】 James Morgan
James was always the laid-back optimistic type, not often voicing his opinions unless asked and only offering reassuring ones when he did. Whether this survived the outbreak however remains to be seen. He is quite confident and not easily offended, although he will not hesitate to take action if someone is intimidating him or if he sees something he really doesn't agree with.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Background】 James was born in Derby (UK) as the only child of publicans James (senior) and Francesca Morgan. Through his teens he was endued with the promise that he would work in the family pub, The King’s Sword, and eventually inherit it when he was older. Living above the pub he became used to the life and atmosphere surrounding it, and some of his happiest memories were of him and his father doing work on the place (they were very much DIY orientated). After high school James, despite intending to work in the pub, went to college where he studied History, Sociology, Creative Writing and Security. He had always had a great interest in ancient history and loved to read about ancient Rome and write alternative fiction in his spare time. Sociology he took because he heard it was easy, but actually found he quite liked it. And he took Security because he thought it might be handy given his bar work; he actually went on to get his security license and is therefore a security guard for the pub as well (if nothing else it makes the place look more professional and lowers their insurance).
Whilst in college James fell in love with a girl named Carly. After hearing she was into boxing James took the sport up himself to get her attention, and it worked. He never really took part in competitions, but he kept up the practice because he knew Carly found it attractive. About five months ago (after four years of going out) James proposed to Carly and she moved in with him above the pub. At that point James’ parents had moved out into a nicer house on the edge of Derby. When the outbreak occurred James and Carly were vacationing in New York, and he was quickly separated from her.
For the first few months he was part of a small group that survived in a small apartment building. However these small groups never seem to last, and it only took one night watch to fall asleep for the whole group to be torn apart. James was pretty sure he wasn't the sole survivor but he never saw any of the others again. Since then he's been mostly on the move, never really staying in one place for more than a few days. The only survivors that he ever comes across tend to be raiders and the like, and so he tends to be cautious about meeting new folk.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Unique Abilities】 James makes a good bartender and can mix a small variety of drinks. He is fairly at DIY, especially where woodwork is concerned. He also knows how to ride a motorbike. None of these are really unique abilities, but he hasn’t much else to bring to the table.
【Knowledge of Combat】 James is a fairly decent boxer, and because of his security training he knows some self-defence techniques (including restraints). In the months since the outbreak he has become fairly adept at using his machete and shield, and so prefers to fight in close confined quarters.
【Weapons】 A machete and a police riot shield, both of which he scavenged of corpses.
He hasn’t bothered to keep hold of any guns yet because he doesn’t really know how to use one (outside of video games) and knows that gunfire is likely to attract unwanted attention.
【Equipment】 A bottle of absinthe; a wind up torch; a couple of cans of beans; a stab can opener; a plastic spork; a phone with no battery left; an umbrella; and a small backpack tailored for bikers.
【Conditions】 He cannot swim, although he is very good at flailing in the water.
