Hi there :D

Newb here, trying to learn the ropes.

Aya perhaps wasn't entirely confident. This was just the start of the season, after all. Yet the thought of the plants she had found yesterday and her desire to keep Destin calm fuelled her reply of assurance. "Of course we'll be able to survive. Don't you worry about one thing. Look-" she picked up a spare bag from beside her bed. "I even have a bag for you to carry it in. So just forget all about what happened."

Destin begins crying again. "Aya you're so nice!" He sobs, before quickly composing himself. He sniffs and wipes his eyes with his arm. "I've never...never had anyone be so nice to me!" He looks a her. "You'll have to let me repay you somehow!" He says eagerly. "I could visit you every week at the border, and give you some of the herbs that don't grow on this side of the river! OR I could help you learn more about healing that I know and you don't know!"
Unfortunately for Destin, Aya certainly could not hug him forever. She stepped back from the hug and looked at him with a smile. Sometimes all people needed was some comfort. "Trust me Destin, everything's going to turn out okay. Like I told you, you can take some of my herbs, okay? Nobody in the Broms will even know what happened." She turned to the piles that they had separated out. "You can take all of this. Brick gathered some more with me. Not to mention I have tons dried in preparation for the winter."

Destin wants to whine as she pulls away from the hug, but restrains himself. He smiles back at her. "Thanks. I appreciate that more than you will ever know." He meant both the hug and the herbs. He turns to look at the piles. "Will you be able to survive and make due? I don't want you guys to suffer because I made a stupid mistake..."

Jett nodded slowly. He thought long and hard about her question, and finally replied slowly, "If I am here looking for something, it definitely isn't something that can be bargained for." He shook his head and sighed, "I dunno, I was absolutely dreading having to come here and face everyone again, but my mind and body just kept pulling me here. I haven't figured out why that is yet." He looked down at her and smiled warmly, "But I guess I'm off to a pretty good start here."

Amelia nods slowly, relaxing a bit. "I suppose that's true." She then bites her lip. "It isn't Sacha, is it? Because Jett, I'm sorry, but that ship's long gone. I don't think she'd ever forgive you for leaving..." She exhales softly, seeing the clearing up ahead. "Well whateer it is you are looking for, I hope you find it."

Jett held up his hands defensively. "Forests change!" he laughed. As they began walking, he noticed her looking at him rather strangely for a moment and felt uneasy. After a long moment of silence, he said hesitantly, "Amelia, you trust me, don't you?" although he wasn't so sure he wanted to hear the answer. He shook his head, trying to expel his worries as she'd advised him, and he smiled again, waving his hands. "Never mind, it's fine. I get it if you feel a bit on edge since I just showed up."

"Forests Change." Amelia says mockingly as they walk. She snorts, then stops a bit as he asks the question. She sighs. "To be quite honest, no. But you havent really been honest, I feel, about why you're really here. Is it just that you've fallen on hard times...or are you looking for something?" She asks, turning to face him. She crosses her arms. "I mean, I'm pretty vulnerable without my crossbow, and my being a ferret is pretty useless. You could use me as leverage to get anything you want."
Oh no. Aya felt a panic rising within her. This was the last thing she had wanted. She couldn't bare to see Destin upset, not again. But she wasn't going to let her emotions take over. What could she do to make him feel better? Acting more on instinct than thought she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him in close. She couldn't remember the last time she'd hugged someone like that. Something about it felt so right. She waited to see his reaction.

Destin gasps a little at the hug. What...is she actually...oooo this is nice! He sniffs and buries his head in her shirt, closing his eyes. He breathes in her scent and whimpers. She smelled so good! He then smiles. "Thanks Aya.." He whispers, hugging her back. This was nice. Could he just stay here...forever?

Jett blinked and nodded in agreement, "Yeah, I know I ran quite a ways. I guess we'll have to wander back." He looked around, trying to get his bearings, but he was unsuccessful. "Uhh... I haven't lived here in 2 years and honestly, I couldn't tell you where we are," he chuckled. He glanced at her, "Can you get us back there?"

Amelia groans and shifts. "C'mon prisoner boy!" She says, before laughing a bit. "You're hopeless Jett, how did you even find the Rabin camp?!" She asks, before beginning to walk back towards the Rabin camp. She glances back to make sure he was actually following. Technically he could ambush me and use me for whatever he wanted...
"Was everyone on your side okay too?" Aya asked, relieved that he seemed to be okay to talk about it. There might not be another chance for a little while from them to share their healing techniques. She laughed a little at Destin's words. "Don't worry, people won't hurt me. If they tried to, I'd just fly away." she glanced over the piles of herbs they'd sorted. "This looks good, huh? You should have seen the plants yesterday! It was some miracle that they hadn't been killed by the cold yet."

Destin nods. "For the most part, yeah." He nods in agreement. "most of our herbs are already dead..." He huffs, shaking his head sadly. "I'm hard pressed to find even some poppy in this late fall." He looks downsadly and kicks at the ground. "Stupid fire." He whimpers, then begins crying "Aya, it's all my fault!"

Jett finally slowed to a halt and looked at her over his shoulder, smirking. He shifted human and let her hop onto the ground. "Had enough?" he laughed, folding his arms and raising one eyebrow.

Amelia scoffs as she jumps down, a little ruffled. 'Nah. I can keep going if you can." She grins, shaking out her fur. She 'perches' and rubs her paws over her ears, cleaning them. "Hey...where's my crossbow?" She frowns, looking around. "Jett, this isn't the same clearing we started in."
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Jett watches her with amusement, and his eyes widened in surprise when she leaps through the air and he feels her tiny paws hit his back. He trotted over and set her crossbow down gently near a tree, then turned his attention on Amelia. He narrowed his eyes mischievously, and suddenly took off in a full-speed run, zigzagging along the way in an attempt to throw her.

Amelia grins as she feels her paws land on his soft fur. She bats at a tuft and ignores him when he walks over to the tree. But soon as he begins running, she squeals, almost falling off. she digs her tiny claws into his fur, clinging for dear life. "REALLY JETT??" She shouts over the "wind" caused by his running. She buries her face in his fur, trying not to fall off.

Jett caught up to her with ease and circled around her a few times, slowing to a walking pace. He grinned at her and flicked her with his tail, his eyes gleaming with mischief. He lunges forward, carefully takes her crossbow in his mouth, and looks at her, raising one eyebrow playfully.

Amelia watches him warily. She then gasps as he grabs her crossbow. "You are a stinky cat, I'll have you know!" She laughs, then shifts, running at him, her little tiny ferret paws thrumming softly on the water-soaked leaves covering the forest floor. When she was a few feet away, she lunges, hoping to land on his back.
