Vera laughed softly. "Well, I dunno about that." She paused, and realized she hadn't exactly presented herself as second-in-command material to this stranger. "I mean... when it comes to a fight, I can take someone out from a hundred feet away. I'll always do whatever's right, but I'm usually pretty good for taking orders," she trailed off, realizing she was trying to prove herself to this stranger. "I'm sorry," she chuckled, "I just don't really talk to anyone about this stuff."

Ambrose shakes his head. "No worries whatsoever!" He grins at her. "If it makes you feel better, none of our Rabins are good enough to be second in command. I mean, many of us are just trying to survive, you know? No one really want to stir up the water or make things more difficult for us than they already are..." He then chuckles. "I think whenever Fabine realizes that you're second-in-command material, you'll do great!"

Vera raised an eyebrow, then shook her head with a smile. "If you're trying to recruit me, I can tell you right now you're wasting your time," she murmured. "I've got so much more I want to accomplish here in the Broms," she smiled. She paused, and thought about if she was happy. "Well, maybe the people aren't the nicest, and what I'm chasing may be near impossible, but I'm not one for giving up, either," she said softly with determination.

Ambrose nods slowly. "I'm pretty much joking." He chuckles. "But good luck with those accomplishments, I'm sure the Broms are oh so very glad to have you!" He nods slowly. "Well, who knows, maybe if you did something worth recognizing, Fabine might promote you on the spot!"
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Vera nods slightly. "It's alright." She paused and added curiously, "Why do you feel so strongly about this?" She noticed him going for his sword and became slightly more on edge.

Ambrose bends down, picking up his sword before turning to face her. "Not sure. You seem nice, ambitious, and what would appear to be other great qualities to have on the Rabin side." He puts his sword in the sheath across his back before walking back over to her. "I mean...are you happy in the Broms? You could join the Rabins, we're much nicer and are accomplishing...more?"
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Vera shrugged. "I guess it's fun to mess with people sometimes, but you're pretty serious about it," she pointed out. "Sometimes I play tricks on my group mates or I can have a sarcastic sense of humor just to bug and mess with my friends, and that's messing around. But you're pushing me to quit my group or let go of my ambitions or something."

Ambrose shrugs and gets to his feet. "Well I apologize for coming off that way. I suppose I just don't think that the Brom group is right in their mentality, and I think you're in the wrong group." He tilts his head. "I did not mean to come off so seriously." He begins walking back over to his sword, which lay next to the river.

Vera opened her mouth to argue further, but instead took a deep breath and shrugged his comments off. She narrowed her eyes at the strange Rabin and muttered, "Are you getting some weird enjoyment out of trying to mess with me?" She finally felt calm enough to place the bow back over her shoulder. She relaxed a bit on the rock where she was perched.

Ambrose chuckles. "Yeah. I am in fact." He inwardly sighs in relief as she places the bow on her shoulder. At least now there shouldn't be a fight. He thinks before plopping down on the ground, crossing his legs as he looks up at her. "I enjoy seeing people becoming angry, or even confused. You're definitely one of those people."

Vera found herself calming down and becoming more rational, the opposite of what this troublesome Rabin seemed to want. She noticed this, which motivated her even further to remain calm. She ran her hand up and down along her bow, something she used to calm herself, as she went on, "Of course not, Fabine is a great leader of the Broms. As second-in-command, I can still do whatever the hell I want and help the group, I just have to report to the leader," she retorted. "And I'm not the one trying to change how others think. I think you're the one that needs to start a new group."

Ambrose shrugs passively. "But you're not second-in-command are you?" He then tilts his head. "If you have to report to the leader on every decision you make, then you're not really doing whatever you want, now are you?" He grins at her. "You're not really thinking clearly. I think you need to take a vacation. Go to the Bahamas or somewhere warm. I think the sun may help also brighten your attitude."
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Vera took a deep breath and glared at him fiercely. "I could lead the Broms," she declares with a snarl. "The Broms would thrive under my leadership. Everyone would be well-trained, well-equipped, well-fed, and happy." She paused and added, "That's more than most of your group mates can say."

Ambrose shrugs. "Ambition doesn't get you anywhere unless you actually pursue it." He tilts his head to one side. "So what's your plan? Murder Fabine and everyone who opposes you? Start a rebellion, take Fabine prisoner, convert everyone to your cause?" He grins. "You could even start your own group! Now that would be very exciting!"
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Vera gritted her teeth with frustration as he ranted back at her. She clenched her fists and snarled at him, "Try harder, you say?" She let out a huff of anger and growled, "Fabine is the leader, and there's no impressing him." She froze the instant he called her weak, and her eyes narrowed to slits. "Maybe I couldn't wrestle a brawler to the ground, but I can send an arrow through their face so fast they'll never even see the whites of my eyes," she hissed.

Ambrose listens to her, smirking to himself as he felt the tension grow in the air. He inhales and looks back at the Rabin camp. "Then why even worry about it? If Fabine's not going to be impressed, you should give up now. Otherwise, you're wasting your time and energy on something you can't achieve." He looks back at her. He chuckles at the image. "I suppose that's true, but at the same time, how could you lead the Broms? How could you hope to strengthen a group like that?"
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Vera narrowed her eyes coldly. "You know what one of the most human emotions is?" she asked. She continued without waiting for an answer. "Greed. Wanting more. Wanting better. We were all taught that we shouldn't let it influence us, but it's only natural." She shook her head fiercely. "I'm greedy for wanting to be a part of the stronger group. And for wanting to be the Brom second-in-command. And a whole bunch of other stuff, but you know what? You're expecting a little too much out of me if you expect any different," she muttered.

"There is no stronger group, don't you get it??" Ambrose sighs heavily, watching the girl. "I think that hate is stronger than greed. Revenge, vengeance, or whatever. If you're driven to disliking someone enough, you'll stop at nothing to see them punished. I think that's stronger than greed." He raises an eyebrow. "Nothing's wrong with wanting to be second-in-command, so why don't you try harder to get that?" He then grins. "Are you weak? Archers tend to be pretty weak."
