I went ahead and made a little bit of lore about Fordsen, which is Sir Galan's fief. I did this just in case anyone ever happened to visit there, to give them some pointers as to what the town is like. It's only a draft, and I might add or change a few things, but this will be the big and large of it.

I'm going to add it to Sir Galan's "Other" section on his char sheet.

@BCTheEntity Actually, that sounds friggin' awesome! And also that Lapi validates my assumption that there could totally be a Lapi that forces a soul back into a body for sweet skeleton knight action.

EDIT: Oh, and there are derivatives of elves, but it's just by region, a cultural and skin pigment thing.

@Footman Yup! In fact, you've just given me an idea on how passive Lapi work. They aren't passive, just really long buffs, so you can prepare them before battle, at the cost of lower stamina.

Awesome! I'll go ahead and update Galan's sheet.
@Kafka Komedy Hey, I've had a bit of time to think about Galan's application of Lapi, and here's what I'm thinking:

His longsword, armour and shield will be imbedded by small shards of the magical rock, granting them extra-ordinary powers when compared to their normal counter parts. Nothing extreme, but I'm thinking the following buffs:

Redeeming Edge (Longsword) - Galan can lend his energy to his sword, covering the blade in a shimmering wave of electricity which will transfer itself to a target by touch, thereby electrocuting them. Whether this attack is fatal, depends entirely on the constitution of Galan's adversary. I.e, weaker opponents might be outright killed by it, where as stronger ones, such as other characters, might only be dazed by it. Galan can perhaps use this attack three or four times per combat, before exhausting himself.

Bulwark of Regret (Armour) - Before riding into combat, Galan will lend energy to his armour in what is an hour-long ritual. Once complete, the Lapi-imbued metal of his full plated armour becomes protected by an invisible barrier capable of warding off some magical and physical attacks, or reducing their effectiveness. How much damage or magical attacks his armour can sustain before the barrier fails is entirely dependant on how strong the attacks are. For example, a Wizard casting a lightning bolt at Galan would severely weaken or perhaps outright destroy the barrier; however, an arrow fired from distance by a lowly archer, would do little, and it would take a dozen more to break his barrier and make him vulnerable.

This Lapi ability is designed to keep Galan alive when he heads cavalry charges or fights in the front of any combat situation, as opposed to giving him some kind of "advantage" over other characters. It'd suck if three posts in he got mobbed and killed by a bunch of peasant NPCs :P

The Hulk of Fordsen (Shield) - The Hulk of Fordsen is an ancestral kite-shield that has long been held by the Fieflord of Fordsen, which in this case is Sir Galan. The shield, like his armour and sword, is imbued by shards of Lapi. By placing his shield in front of him, and lending his energy to it, Galan can cast an invisible wave of kinetic energy which will knock his opponent over or stumble them backwards if they are strong enough to withstand it. Think of it as an extra heavy shield bash. It has a range of about six feet, before the energy dissipates.

What do you think? Am I on the right track?
@Footman A character this early? Awesome! Though the lack of Lapi will probably put you at a disadvantage, other than that I see no issue with the character. Mind putting him in a hider though?

I'm considering the Lapi at the moment, but I'm unsure of how to go about it... as in, what he might specialise in. Healing, perhaps would make sense... but I'll think about it. This is just a draft, and my way of showing you that whilst I'm very new here, I can at least knit a few sentences together! He'll likely change a bit by the time you get this boat out of the harbour.

A hider? Errrr, yup - literally just learned how to do it. I'll have him packed away nice and neat in a second.

In any case, consider this my formal dedication to this RP. I only tend to take part in one at a time, so I wont be disappearing on you :D
Work in Progress Character. 98% Complete. Considering adding Lapi abilities and a few minor alterations.

Hello all,

Thought I'd best introduce myself. I've been in and out of roleplaying nigh on ten years; in fact, I think I was a member of this site way back in something like 2007 - which is why I've come here. The google search threw this up on like the first link, and it rung a bell, so I had a little look around and I think this is the same place. Its changed a great deal, I think, but then my memory of this site is incredibly hazy. This might not even be the same place that I'm remembering.

In any case, I'm a simple man, with simple needs. I need to practice my creative writing, or rather, I wish to practice my creative writing.

I can adapt my style and enthusiasm to most genres, but my typical favourite is high fantasy. Don't be fooled by the name; Warcraft nursed me through the 90's and early 2000's, but I'm not what you'd call a diehard fan, so I'd rather steer clear of any WoW related stuff - simply because the lore has exploded so much since my day that I wouldn't know a panda from a ghoul.

That all said, I can also run along with the following:

- Sci-fi (So long as it doesn't require me having a science degree!)

- Horror (Zombie, vampires, werewolves; s'all the same to me)

- World Wars/Military (Was a big WW2 buff way back when, and have kept most of my knowledge. However I'm not a military nut, and wouldn't fare so well in roleplays that focus on to-the-letter realism and knowledge)

- Historical (Know a bit about most things; medieval and ancient periods)

- Diplomacy (although I think you guys are calling it Nation Roleplay from what I've seen?)

So yeah. I'll likely be lurking around for a bit, spying out things that might be right for me, but if you've got a spare space in your roleplay that I might be able to fall into, then I'd be happy to give it a shot. I am available most days, for an hour or two at least, and I can write fairly well (not great, but I can get by!), so that translates into at least one medium length post a day.

From experience, taking on multiple projects normally ends badly for me, so I tend to stick to one roleplay at a time (sometimes two if I'm feeling brave enough!).

In any case, I look forward to working/playing with you fine fellows in the near future.

Footman.
