@ShaggyDoo0 As long as there's no God modding or OP characters I don't mind.
I just added the classes. I have just a few minutes left on my lunch so I probably won't get anything else added until I get off work in about 4 hours. I did want to add that players who saw my original interest check have asked if they can play as things that were not mentioned. I determine this on a case by case basis. For example, I have a player who wanted to play as a Revenant but from a previous edition of D&D. I allowed that. As GM I reserve the right to not allow something for any reason. I'm pretty laid back and very rarely will I flat out tell you no as opposed to trying to come up with something we're both ok with. One flat out thing I said no to was a type of D&D character (that I can't recall the name of) but I wasn't familiar with the concept and was not comfortable GMing a game with material I wasn't familiar with at all. Please don't hesitate to ask, I won't bite. The worst case scenario is I say no but I will generally try to work with you.

For new players who have any questions feel free to PM me or ask your questions directly here. I'm still figuring out how I want to do the character sheet as I typically use and would prefer to use the form fillable PDF that is available (I'm not sure how I can get that to players without e-mailing it to them directly which I have no problem with but players might). I can send anyone who needs it a link to the 5th edition Player's Handbook that will tell you a lot of information about how to play, races, classes and other game mechanics. It won't be entirely informative as our D&D campaign is set in a world entirely of my own invention (from a novel I'm writing). There are races in the player's handbook that are not allowed in this campaign, mainly Tieflings. The subraces of all the races I have listed as playable are allowed.

One of the ways this is dice rolling light is that combat will be more story like than in a traditional D&D campaign. For example:

Your party is attacked by a group of bandits on the highway who want to steal your money. There is the bandit leader and three of his cronies who have closed ranks around you.

Traditionally this would play out as:

DM/GM: Roll for initiative.

*players roll their initiative to see where their turn in combat is*

Bandit Leader: The bandit leader had the highest initiative and gets to attack first. His attack roll is successful and he attacks Dalothuil MagnificentBeard, the dwarven fighter for 12 damage.

How it will work in our RP:

Dalothuil MagnificentBeard: Seeing they were surrounded, Dalothuil pulled his axe off his back, spitting on the ground with rage that these bandits would dare to try and steal from him and his friends. With a running leap Dalothuil sank the edge of his axe deep into the armor of the bandit leader whose only response was to sneer wickedly at the dwarf before throwing him off.

Dice rolls will still be used to determine character stats and their ability to pass certain in game checks like a charisma check. For new players who aren't sure what that means:

You're in a tavern eating dinner, waiting until tomorrow morning to start out on your quest. A drunken man knocks you off your stool, spilling your ale all over you and sending your plate of food that you had not yet touched flying. The drunk pulls you to your feet before shoving you back, telling you to watch where you're going. Deciding he doesn't like the look of you he towers over you, he's clearly much larger than you.

If you wanted to attempt to calm him down and leave you alone without a physical confrontation you would roll a D20 (a 20 sided die that you can use an app for if you don't own an actual die) add your charisma modifier and hope it's a high enough roll that the drunkard mumbles something to himself about you not being worth his time anyway and stumbles off to bother another patron in the tavern.
I work today but should have more updates later today.

Starting level will be level 3 5th Edition. This will be a dice rolling light version of D&D. Any players who know answers to the new comers questions are welcome to answer if they are so inclined in my absence.

I will have the thread for the actual RP posted sometime tomorrow along with more information about the world. I'm off all day tomorrow so I will be focused solely on this.
Hmm... Thinking about making a Dwarven Ranger. Haven't done a Dwarf character in a while.

I don't think I've ever come across a dwarf ranger.
I won't be back on until after work tonight. So I'm just going to leave this here as inspiration:

@TheUnknowable My son loves to play and it helps his social skills and his ability to reason. It's a family activity in our household.
