Bio

Well hello.

I guess I should introduce myself, huh.

I'm Gardevoiran, just some schmuck going to college and working towards getting a degree in Fine Arts.

I do commissions and what-not, and you can ask me to do a commission for you through my Discord (Gardevoiran #1429) or up here through RPGuild PMs, and I receive donations and payment through my Ko-fi page. Clicking the box right below here will take you to it.

I'm a nerd. I play Pokemon religiously, I dabble in some anime, I write up here, and I love watching incredibly awful movies and just making fun of them. Specifically things like "Leo the Lion" and what not.

I don't have much else to say, so I guess I can leave you guys with a really bad joke.

"What do you call a cow with two legs?"
"Lean beef."

"Visions, magical writing on my fingers, emotional energy. For architecture, the puddles had a cool formation but otherwise it was just a cave... and I have no idea what the countermeasure is meant to go against, but I don't wanna find out." Skylar hopped off from the ferry and immediately began to look around the city from where the two touched-down at. "Alright, cool, made it to Lakewatch. What to do now..." Skylar pondered for a moment. He knew he needed to try and get into the flooded parts of the town, but he didn't exactly have anyone on his team that could Dive down that far, if at all. Surely, though somewhere in Lakewatch had to have some Pokemon for rent for diving further.

'Reading' was a word, but eventually Skylar found a small little guide and, after struggling for a minute, got an idea on where to go. "The Explorer's Guide Service or the Lakewatcher Base are probably the people to go to for help. I need to get under the town and into Flooded Lakewatch, if what our pink friend said is true." Skylar chose that phrase over Mesprit, just incase some uncool dudes were listening.

"Explorer's Guide Service seems like the safer bet. Let's head there first."

If Vivia wanted to leave Skylar's squad to do her own thing, she totally could. Regardless, Skylar and his buddies were running in... some direction, and they'd eventually come to find the Explorer's Guide Service building... somewhere.

Oh, and all during this time, Skylar'd be looking for new Pokemon. Of course, mainly birds, but if anything else reared its cute little head, Skylar'd probably take notice.

Skylar showed Vivia the Pokedex entry (and by proxy, picture) of Mesprit momentarily before he put his Pokedex back. He took a moment to reflect on the Major League Gym for Lakewatch before he shrugged. "Probably slightly better. Means we can focus on either Azelf or Uxie when we get there. Though, if they might be underwater, we'd probably need to ask around for things first."

Skylar looked back at the ferry before he looked at Vivia. "I'll spot you on the ticket, since I'm kind of roping you into this adventure with me. Let's go, before the ferry leaves!" Skylar said as he began to run, Paradise crooning her neck under Vivia to pick her up so the group could get to the ferry in time. though i doubt that the gm would let it leave

As soon as the two hit the docks, Seabreeze guided Skylar over to the ticket station so the lad could hastily buy two tickets. "Hello sir, two tickets to Lakewatch!"

Skylar bought two tickets for 1500p total!

unless the gm says that pokemon are extra if not in their pokeballs

From there, everyone clambered onto the ferry and waited for the departure, unless Vivia did something different, which she could totally do.

Right, that wasn't going to work then.

Digbie did have an inkling of an idea, though. Maybe this magic wasn't the kind he was predicting would be offensive, at least, not with him in this sort of environment. Too dark to charge something with a holy light, perhaps? In any case, maybe if Digbie focused on something a bit more... workable. Maybe instead of using it to fight, maybe he could use it to defend. A holy shield might be a bit more up this alley than a Holy Mana Orb... or maybe even a Sacred Ground, considering the name.

He was lost in his thoughts, though, because when Torrent decided to start moving to try and obliterate one of the goblins herself, Digbie panicked. "Nonono Torrent! What're you doing! Just let them fi-grraraghhh!" His groan was accompanied by him lowering the wall blocking him and Oberon in so he could step out, looking around at the scene but taking mainly in the area where he felt Torrent the most.

Oh, they didn't make this an even fight? The goblins wouldn't actually take the corks off the horns of the ram while they attacked it with such bladed weapons? That was irritating! How dare they both not respect Digbie's wishes while also doing something so underhanded?!

Digbie's fist clenched, taking a moment to think before he spoke.

"You call that an even fight?!" Digbie shouted towards Rags and his gang, plus the ram over in the thick of things. Instinctively, the tattoos along his arms began to glow as he channeled a spell. "You have gimped this ram's horns to make the fight easier on you, choosing to let it be weaker than you five in order to survive and show it to me? Allow me to make this fight much more important if you are to earn my allegiance!"

Here goes nothing...

"With the power of my Patron, I declare this ground, SACRED!"

"Well, it was worth a shot I guess." Skylar shrugged, smiling at the emotion Pokemon. "No sweat. When this is all over, I'll be back here once more. Maybe then you can come along for the journey, right?" He was hopeful in that. Maybe Mesprit coming along was something that was held within his stars, just not immediately. After all, he did have this legendary task ahead of him, so maybe this was a true test that he had to pull off with his team as it stood.

He rallied everyone at the door (obviously giving everyone headpats on the way out), before he turned back to Mesprit. "If all goes well, I'll be back with good news!" With that, Skylar stepped back out of the cave and back into Highhill proper... but ran back in really quick to ask a question alone. "Oh wait, is there anything I need to know about Uxie and Azelf? S-Since you had this thing, is there anything similar?" Better to know now then not know when he got there.

Whether or not Mesprit answered, Skylar returned to the outside to tell Vivia the plan.

"Alright, Vivia, we've got a new mission." Skylar immediately opened. "There's something bad going on in Isson. Really bad, actually, and it's up to us to try and fix it. We need to catch a ferry to Lakewatch to go and meet with either Uxie or Azelf, not sure. Mesprit said it was pretty much necessary as a countermeasure to whatever's happening." He spoke with diligence, stepping away from the rocks and starting towards the lake. "There's a warehouse in lower Worldedge. There's some kind of experimenting going on with this girl that Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie seem to know. I think she's really powerful in some aspect and some scientists are trying to awaken her power so they can use it. Maybe those grunts we stopped at Silent Shrine have some involvement in it, I don't know. Point is, we need to go to Lakewatch and Stillwood so we can have the power to keep that from happening completely." Skylar stopped before turning back to Vivia.

"So instead of going to Stillwood straight away, we're going to Lakewatch first to both challenge that gym and meet with either Uxie or Azelf. From there, we go to Stillwood, complete the trio of this lake as well as gather the third gym badge around the lake, then we... hopefully figure out what to do from there, whether it's going to Worldedge or somewhere else." Skylar looked down at the docks, which were barely in view by this point. "If there's anything left to do here in Highhill, we need to do it like now. Otherwise, we wait for the next ferry and keep going. The less time we take is the less time that the girl Mesprit showed me will suffer."

All of Skylar's Pokemon stared at eachother, seemingly still trying to make heads and tails of this situation themselves. The only one who didn't was JoJo, who teleported onto Skylar's shoulder and nodded over to Vivia. Sure, JoJo wasn't the strongest Psychic Type yet, but he knew what Skylar was saying was true. This wasn't something they could ignore.

Vivia's response?

"Lower Worldedge. Bit of a maze, but we can pull through." Skylar's voice beckoned forth confidence, even if there was a hint of unease in the pit of his stomach. I mean, this was a Legendary Pokemon asking him to help save the world! Of course he'd be at least a little intimidated!

Still, this wasn't just something he could say no to, either. He'd already agreed to it, too, so that's a thing. Skylar smiled as the world faded back into reality, all of Skylar's Pokemon staring at the boy and legendary as the two returned to the real world. Skylar looked at his friends and grinned at them all. "Good news guys, I've got a big plan for what we do next. Bad news, we've got quite the journey ahead of us."

The boy pulled up the map on his Pokedex, looking at it while figuring out what to do. "Well, originally I was going to take us to Stillwood, then Freecape, but from here in Highhill we can go to Lakewatch, then take the route to Stillwood to meet your kin." Skylar looked up at Mesprit. What a happy face on this little lake child, indeed. Skylar put up his Pokedex after getting a quick scan on Mesprit (and picture, like, come on that had to be worth at least 4000 points).

"Hey, Mesprit?" Skylar asked with a bit of hesitance. "Would it be rude of me to ask you if you'd like to come with us? N-Not necessarily in a Pokeball, unless you wanted to, but I figured you'd want to at least see the others with us."

In case Mesprit did want to join the team with Skylar and the gang, the one Premier Ball Skylar had with him was ready.

Skylar's eyes widened at the voice in his head, even moreso as the sudden rising of the rocks caused him to stagger back and flop onto the ground. Lifting himself up, he was amazed to see that a full cave had opened from underneath him. Must be the power of whatever force just talked to him. One by one, Skylar and his team stepped through to the cave down below, but at the restriction of Vivia, Skylar awkwardly turned around to face her. "Oh... heh, must be for only me and the team. I'll fill you in when I come back out."

The boy and his Pokemon stepped through the entrance and into the room proper, amazed at how well-lit the blurriness was considering this was a cave... then there was a soft pat on his shoulder. It wasn't enough to cause Skylar to instinctively look, mind, but he did acknowledge that it was there. At least, he offered to pat the new arrival on his shoulder. Whether it accepted or not was up to it.

Then, the visions came. A girl, decorated with long blue hair and tons of tech all around her, sat suspended in a tank full of... Skylar could only assume water. Maybe it was something more, but he couldn't tell from just looking. There were scientists all around the room with her, studying sequences of code and type that Skylar couldn't even begin to process. This wasn't a scene that Skylar wanted to watch, and surely the new arrival on his shoulder could feel the emptiness in his gut. This was... sad. Horrible.

The feeling under Skylar's fingers asked him a question, though Skylar didn't need to say it out loud. He turned his head to the Pokemon on his shoulder, looking at it with his glossy gray eyes. "I-I can try, but what's happening to her?"

Meanwhile, outside of the vision that Skylar's receiving...

"What's uppy with Skywar?" Mac asked the rest of the Pokemon in the room. "And who's this stwanger?"

"It better not be trying to pry for his affection. There aren't enough headpats for me now, with everyone else around!" Celebrity put her hands on her hips(?). Unsurprisingly, Smiley had groaned at this, but otherwise the Murkrow was fairly silent.

"I don't know what's going on, guys, but this Pokemon isn't trying to hurt Skylar. At least, I'm fairly sure not directly... JoJo, do you feel anything?"

"... Sadness." Jonathan bleakly answered the Wingull still perched atop Skylar's head. "It's not just Skylar, though. It's the same with that Pokemon, if only more potent in it."

"... could it be a vision of some sort?"

"It's very likely, at least, if you ask me it is."

"Well, why don't we just break 'im outta it? A good Peck to the forehead oughtta..." Smiley's suggestion quickly faded off, Paradise glaring at the Murkrow with anger once again. "Heh, uh, that was a joke, y'know? Somethin's definitely gotta be happening up in Skylar's dome, though."

"Absolutely." Jonathan chimed in one more time.

"Is Skywar gonna be okie?" Mac asked everyone again, just to be sure.

"I'm sure he'll be fine, Mac. All we can do for right now is wait, though. At least for this Pokemon to finish showing Skylar what's going on."

"Wow, neat rocks!" Skylar smiled to himself before stepping onto the tablet that laid beneath him and his team. He gently leaned over to pick it up, knowing most definitely not what it said until his hand ran over it to dust it off. The bumps underneath his fingers caused him to raise an eyebrow.

"What..." Skylar asked, placing Mac down from his other arm as he ran his hand along. Was this... hold on, he could read this. This wasn't anything more than an alphabet for him... and it meant exactly the same as a standard alphabet.

Skylar looked up at the stones and saw that there, just barely, were little blurry bumps on them. Skylar gently placed down Seabreeze before calling to another one of his buds. "Paradise, help me up so I can feel those rocks. I've got an idea..."

Without so much as a word, Paradise raised Skylar's body up in the air with her long an surprisingly strong neck, letting Skylar rub his hands on each bunch of rocks before Skylar spoke aloud, just enough for Vivia to hear.

"All five must be demonstrated for the one to nurture our bonds."

Skylar smiled and looked down at Vivia. "What was that about uncovering mysteries?" he joked, feeling the lower wall of bumps and reading them aloud.

"The path shall open before the guardian of the mystic."

Skylar patted Paradise's head to bring him down before he called out to his team. "Guys, find more rocks with bumps! There's gotta be more things here..."

After a few minutes, Skylar recited the readings off the five stones, in order from left to right.

"One, generosity, the foundation of our cooperation."

"Two, sadness, the consequence of our failures."

"Three, joy, the reward for our successes."

"Four, anger, the defense against our mistreatment."

"Five, passion, with which everything is possible."

Skylar thought for a moment, looking down at his gym badge before a peck from a Wingull brought him back into reality.

"Heh," he giggled, before returning to his team. The team that helped him do what he never thought he could do. He smiled to them, before he... well...

"You know, if someone told me a year ago that I'd be on a jouney and I'd have my first badge, I wouldn't have believed them. Like, for my entire life I would've wanted my own Pokemon journey, but my dad never let me consider it as a possibility because... well... I'm blind." Skylar bluntly said the obvious by this point. "He always had Xatu watch over me so I wouldn't get hurt because of things. I love Xatu, and no matter what he'd always keep me safe, like that one time a bunch of our Vullaby and Mandibuzz at the lab were eating my clothes and he stepped in to teach them a lesson. We were best buds."

"Still, he wouldn't help me in my case with my dad. He always kept telling me that I couldn't go on the journey. It was too dangerous and I wouldn't likely have a partner to come with me on my path. I was sad, but I still kept hope. Sure, it took a few years more than I had hoped, but look at me now!"
Skylar shouted, placing his hands on his hips with a dopey grin. "I'm on my way! With Seabreeze and you guys at my side, I've never been more confident! We had a tough battle that, honestly, I wasn't sure that we'd win, but we steeled our hearts and kept at it, and look at us now!"

Skylar pulled his badge off his bag and raised it high into the air. "We scored our first badge! We fought against Lorette when she went all out, and we brought home the badge!" Skylar clenched his badge in his hand, still going strong.

"We've had the whole group here, and with all of us working as one we'll overcome anything!" The boy looked at his team before he began to address them, one by one.

"Smiley, thank you! Without you and your moxie, we wouldn't have been able to overcome the fights against Lorette's Larvesta!" "Mur! Murkrokro-row!"

"Mac, without you that Escavalier would still be kicking our butts! You're a baby, but you're so great!" "Torchiiiiiic!"

"JoJo! You threw Lorette for a loop with the Double Teams, and you really showed your confidence! I'm glad you're here with us!" "Rrallaaral!"

"Paradise, you... wow! That Accelgor didn't know what hit him with you leading the fray! You took hits and reminded everyone you're not always the gentle giant we know you as!" "Trooop."

"Celebrity, you're unmatched on this team with your singing. That Beedrill threw us for a loop, but with you by our side we returned that loop and made it think twice about attacking you! Thank you!" "Pu-hu-hu-huff~!"

"And Seabreeze..." Skylar looked up at his starter. "Well, without you, none of this could've been possible. You showed the Beedrill and Butterfree what-for, and you've been keeping me from getting hurt this whole ride! Thank you."

"Wingull-gull!" Seabreeze smiled before saluting with his wing.

Skylar turned back to the center stone, and continued. "Our journey's only begun, and we've come this far. Whatever's back there, no, whatever's created these stones, I want you to bear witness to something right now!"

The boy swung his arm around, a thumb pointing right at him as he confidently grinned to the statues. "In the name of Ho-oh, Lugia, Rayquaza, all of the guardians of the sky, I, Skylar Brighton, will become the best bird trainer in all of Isson, then I will become the strongest trainer in all of Isson! Believe it!"

"Wingull!"
"Jigglypuff!"
"Tropius!"
"Ralts!"
"Torchic!"
"Murkrow!"

Skylar was left breathing heavily. Whether that worked or it didn't, it wouldn't matter.

"Hm?" That was an odd pink outline that Skylar 'saw'. Might be worth looking into some of the ancient rocks further to see if there's anything about that which may be... well, surprising was the best word that Skylar could think of.

He couldn't dwell on it for long, though, as Vivia had made her way back to Skylar and the team proudly presenting the badge she had scored from Lorette. "Nice job, Vivia!" Skylar cheered, ignoring the fact that he basically had twice the challenge she had and he barely skirted by. The Gym Leaders likely used different teams for different trainers, so it was fine overall for Skylar.

"I was thinking about what we could do next, Vivia, and to be honest, I think I wanna give our teams a little rest before we move on. The next gym we could challenge is Stillwood, which we can ferry to from here, right? We can spend the day here, finish seeing some of the sights that we hadn't seen yet, then we can head to the ferry tonight and ride it over to Stillwood." Skylar explained his plan to Vivia as he stood back up, pointing what he had assumed was the lake to help show his plan. "Apparently there are some Ancient Stones here to check out, and I wanted to go and check them out even though... well..." the boy waved his hand in front of his sunglasses to show his other point.

Skylar pulled his bag over his shoulder and head, disturbing Seabreeze momentarily before the Wingull floated back down to rest on Skylar's hair once again. "So... yeah. Heading to there, if you wanted to come with. Otherwise, in the ranches outside of town make for some good training, or you could see about getting a Torchic there like Mac." Skylar smiled, picking Mac up off the grass and scratching behind the Torchic's plumage.

"Yisssshhh! Good good scritchies!!!"

Regardless on if Vivia came with Skylar or not, the boy was off once again. Eventually, the boy and his team would make it to the very set of stones that Skylar wanted to explore, though it would likely take them a bit to do such a thing.

Of course, if anything happens on Skylar's journey, he'd take note of that, but for the most part if nothing interesting happens then maybe the Stones would hold something interesting.

"Uh... okay?" Skylar wasn't exactly sure why Vivia was running off so quick in her hurry, but it didn't really bother him. She had her own reasons, and it would be rude of Skylar to follow. He was just hoping it wasn't anything to do with crime or that sort.

Regardless, he had an admittedly minor thing on his mind right now. There was the lake right down the way from the Pokemon Center, and if he was waiting for Vivia anyway it might be a good time to try and get just a hair more training done while Skylar figured out what to do next.

Before anything else happened, Skylar stepped outside of the Pokemon Center and let all of his buddies back out.

"Krow?" "Troooopiusss." "Torchic chic!" "Rrrallllaaa?" "Puff!"

"Heh, we got it guys!" The boy pointed to his shiny new badge on his backpack strap. The team roared in excitement at the new badge acquisition, excluding Smiley and Celebrity. The latter was smugly grinning at the victory Skylar had achieved over the gym, definitely with her help carrying the team, but the former just watched the team. After a moment, Smiley gave in and smiled.

"Tch, fine. You guys aren't so bad."

Skylar, of course, couldn't understand that, but the rest of the group did and smiled towards the Murkrow.

"This is only the beginning, and with you guys, I'm sure we can forge our own destiny on Isson and become it's champion in no time!" Skylar put away all the pokeballs of his teammates, attaching them to his bag, before he began to walk towards the lake and green hill down the street. All of his Pokemon followed him, almost like a parade with how Mac ran over to Skylar's leg to stay near him, JoJo and Smiley hopping onto Paradise to ride, and Celebrity acting like she was too good for everything. As always, Skylar's head operated Seabreeze, who was glad to watch for Skylar's path to keep him from running into anyone.

"Though, I'm gonna be honest, I don't know which Gym to tackle next. I'm thinking Freecape might be a good next-destination, buuuut I'm not sure if I'm ready to challenge Lowell. It'd certainly show I've got some nerve, challenging royalty to their title though, eh?" Skylar joked. He walked over to the grassy hills he trained on yesterday and pulled out a map of Isson, basically smushing his face into it as he thought where to head to next.

"Freecape is split by Stillwood, so we could just go through Stillwood, beat the gym there, then go to Freecape to challenge Lowell. We're definitely going to need some training if we're doing that, though. I don't think we'll get much more experience with anything else around here, though we could at least see if any of the Pokemon around here catch our eye. That, plus we deserve a little break, eh?"

So with the Pokemon Center in view (and even if it wasn't, you just had to find Paradise), Skylar sat down on the grass and watched the various wild Pokemon of Highhill's area go about their lives (mainly the Pidgeys, cute little birds.) If any of them happened to be special, Skylar would inquire further, but otherwise he was just gonna watch them and let his team have a moment to rest. Who knows? Maybe they'd find another rare Pokemon or overhear some fancy gossip? Anything could happen.

It wasn't easy to navigate with a sleeping Wingull, but with enough time and patience Skylar approached the similar red roof of the Pokemon center once again. He still couldn't believe it, he had actually managed to secure his first Gym Badge! Of course, his entire team took a big beating from that battle, which already scared Skylar from trying the other Gyms. If they were like that, then this journey would definitely be tougher from there on out. Eh, maybe not. Hopefully as he continued he'd get more and more tricks up his sleeve to battle with.

He stepped into the Pokemon Center to hear the familiar tune once again, then stepped up to Nurse Joy and offered the Pokeballs he had, completely forgetting about Seabreeze still sleeping on his head.
