I completely agree that you have to be skilled, smart, quick, fast, strong and everything else...But that doesn't mean you have to be a soldier/police officer/SWAT/criminal to be any of the above. Fitness in the natural selection sense, I feel, can't be tied to your main occupation. There's plenty of office workers/toilet cleaners/coaches/shopkeepers/students/teachers/salespersons/couch potatoes/etc I know who'd make good survivors. Physical and mental traits aside, they'd have something going on the side and things like that too. E.g: There are plenty of young girls who could outpace me in a half-marathon anytime. Now that would come in handy when you're running from a horde of flesh-eating zombies. :D Which also means they could easily ditch me to them :DP.S: Will post a flashback post soon.

Heh, never said they had to be police officers, soldiers, etc either. My character definitely isn't.

But for many people, they are either writing the easy route, trying to get the most "powerful" character they can to have an advantage. IE, their character will know more about what it is they are doing, than the player themselves; weapons operation and maintenance, survival skills, etc.

The other "many people group" as I see it, are probably the people who are just writing what they know. A lot of people in the military turn to RPGs to kill the downtime when deployed. They know how to play a military-type character, and can do it well, so some will continue to play a military-type character in game. I've known several current, and former military men who do this.

The smaller group, I think....are people like me who know more than most about firearms, weapons, etc, and seek an outlet. I'm just all hipster and hate being cliche :P

As a man who enjoys his expensive collector's editions for games I love, I gotta say, that's all pretty badass. The candles are a nice touch.

As someone who simply cannot comprehend the whole, "Collecting" thing of anything...

I can comment on the photographic aspect?
Background clutter distracts from the display, could have been fixed with better framing of the subject so as not to cut off the bottom of the map, or the head of the figure, perhaps clean off the table before hand next time? Too much light washes out the mood set with the candles, I would suggest setting up for the shot at night, maybe add a pair more candles, mount the camera on a tripod. Pull the camera back a bit.

However, the angles are good, it gives a good overview of the map, the booklet, case and the figure. Maybe a slightly lower camera angle, and it might be perfect. The horizontal angle is again, quite nice, and pleasing. I am getting the feelng that the focus is caught on the uper portion of the figurine, if you have manual focus, I would try to set it deeper into the image, give the writing on the booklet and dvd case a bit more crispness. If you have Aperture control, perhaps tighting the Aperture to F:8 to give you more depth of field to work with. If you don't? Try setting the camera to single-focus mode, aim the camera to the feet of the figure or some of the test, press the shutter half way to lock in the focus, and then re-frame the shot. Should help contribute to a better presentation.

Realistically, those "alpha" characters would be the ones who most likely survive. They are trained, efficient and mentally more capable than most. Az

Aye. In a book I read, they had a great saying that went something like this:

You're either really stupid lucky to survive an apocalypse, or you're very skilled, and very lucky.
Problem is, you can't count on luck.

In the first few months, the lucky will usually survive. They might get into a good group of survivors, people who can protect them, etc. But as the months wear on, the people who are only lucky begin falling, cause the dice have no memory. Those who live learned new skills quickly to become somewhat skilled and lucky.

Realistically, the walkers are going to be hardened survivors after 9 months of fighting, running, and surviving. The CDC group is where you will find the "Lucky" people. There of course will be "nests" of preppers, shelter-folk, out there as well.

Let me preface this with a little story:

My life has been pretty shitty these past few years, having to take care of my mother as depression, and alcoholism consumed her to the point where she could no longer take care of herself. She passed away last year, on the 4th of December, and my sister and I have taken it upon ourselves to try and organize the Celebration of my mother's life, so that my father doesn't need to stress over it as much as he had been.

This means we have been hunting through old photo albums, trays and boxes full of photos still in their envelopes, for her; Our mother. The mother my sister remembered from before, and the woman I wish I could remember through my fractured memory. Remembering that she was, at one point, an actual mother. That she loved us, cared for us, got outside and had fun with us. That she was more than the frail, abusive, manipulative, twisted wreck that had burned itself into our memories.

I've found more than just pictures. I have found emotions I had forgotten in my own battle with depression. I did love her. I miss her. This house feels empty even though she wasn't really a part of it for the past 3 years.

So, suffice it to say, this picture breaks me:

....Whut?
I looked.

I thought about it.

I remembered I haven't mathed since...like, 2000 when I got out of highschool.

I run away.
Help what?

Can't help you; Good concerts are such overwhelming amounts of energy, that introverts like us "broken" for a couple hours, becoming temporary extroverts. (Some introverts will remain introverts however. Handle with care, and give them space when they ask it)

The crash afterwards can be brutal, hydrate yourself. Have some salty foods, and eat a banana (Need to replenish some lost potassium), etc. Your muscles are probably hating you for the sudden, and unannounced thrashing to made, but fuck your muscles. You had fun.
Squee, all I can say is, I give you hugs.
Nothing much to say...?
