Kat sat by the window staring out blankly absentmindedly sharpening her pocket knife. This was the fourth day that James was gone, and she knew that something had gone wrong, it took Kat less than a day to walk into town, and James could do it in under 2 hours. He has promised to be back 3 days ago "at the latest", but he wasn't. Kat felt her eyes prickle with tears, and she blinked them away, sniffing her constantly running nose. She hadn't had anything to eat since she finished off the baked beans yesterday morning, her tummy was aching already.

Kats hands worked rhythmically, sharpening the blade on her small pocket knife. James had been in the army, he had taught her the most important part of survival was to look after your tools. She knew she would have to leave the cabin today, and she'd have to do it soon if she wanted to make it somewhere safe before nightfall. She checked her satchel, previously is had been used for school books, now it had ammo, wire, string, hooks, and other trapping material. She snapped her pocket knife closed and slipped it into her pocket. She pushed her hair out of her eyes, it needed cutting, the uneven pixie cut had gone several weeks without a trim, and the tips of her fringe dangled over her eyes.

Kat slung the satchel over her shoulder, and checked the hunting rifle was clean before carefully slinging that over her shoulder also.. James words ringing in her ears "ALWAYS treat the gun as if its loaded." For a 7 year old Kat had a pretty good shot, and she'd been practicing for hours when James was here. Tears began streaming as she walked away from the house. She had never done this trip alone before, James had always been there. James was always there. Until now.

3 hours later Kat arrived at the first "safepoint" that her and James had check out together. It was a small house on a quiet street, one of the old houses that backed onto the forest. Kat scanned the street carefully, she remembered what James had told her "You're small so stay down, hide and watch for at least 10 minutes. Be as silent as you can. If there is any movement, leave straight away and go to the next safe house. Don't ever try shoot them unless they are already attacking." after what felt like hours she silently zipped across the lawn, and onto the back porch. The small piece of red paper James jammed in the door every time was still in place, so no one had used that door to get it. Kat peeked in all the windows, and then finally, exhausted and cautious she entered the house.

15 minutes later she had checked every room, and was ready to eat. The house had been untouched since she had last been there with James, which meant that he hadn't been here either. Kat felt helpless, she was 7, how could she find him? Was he dead already? How would she survive on her own? Kat silently started crying, finally letting the tears she'd been holding back pour down her cheeks. What would she do?
Emily was surprised to hear someone ask about how she was. Although usually at her old school people would have swarmed over her asking if she was ok, and a senior from the football team would have probably carried her off, she hadn't expected anyone to care. To be honestly, she probably wouldn't care about any of these girls either. Emily looked at the girl, she was short and was practically drowning in her sweater, it hung loose and gaping over her hips like a tent. Emily looked away, and continued walking, falling into step with the girl as they walked together towards the information office.

"Uh, yeah I'm fine. Haha, Hellside, I like it." The silence was awkward and they both walked, "I'm Emily by the way, are all the girls here so... Bitchy?" She gestured to the small groups of preppy girls that had laughed at her.

Emily smiled and tried to look friendly, but as she walked towards the office she watched the other girls sizing her up and then looking away, apparently bored. She felt her smile slip a bit. Being new was foreign to her, and in a school of all girls her short skirt wasn't going to get her anywhere.
Sophia had been addressing robots for a large part of her life, even her part time job at a retail appliance store back in Metaorbis was mostly staffed by humanoid bots, but this one was incredible. His eyes seemed so alive, and the way he moved was so fluid and.. well.. human.

"I am Sophia.. Just call me that. Don't call me master or anything." Sophia felt awkward, she hadn't been expecting her Aunt to be staffed with a robot so advanced.

"Ok, well my Aunt left me this place. I just want to look around and then go to bed. I am very tired.." She gestured to her bags, "Can you show me the house?".

I shouldn't feel bad for ordering him around, after all, he is my robot now, and thats what you're supposed to do. Sophia frowned, unable to help but feel bossy. I'd better ask him to clean up as well.. This place needs a good sweep up."
Sophia jumped, startled at the appearance of another person inside the store. "H-Hello?" said croaked, the air was thick with dust, and she coughed suddenly.

"Who are you? New Master?" She looked at him. He didn't seem.. quite right. Suddenly it all clicked into place, the charging station, the strange "man" living in an abandoned house. He was a robot, usually only very wealthy people could afford ones so... real looking. Even his eyes looked human, they had an almost curious expression as he looked at her. Sophia swallowed and took a deep breath.

"I am Sophia, are you a humanoid robot?"
Haha, ok. I made a post but I'm terrible at starting things off. Don't judge me too hard. :P
Emily fiddled with the hem of her brand new uniform skirt. Her mum had been chattering about how great the classes and teachers were the whole car trip, it was driving her crazy. Northside Girls College was one of the oldest schools in the area, and Emily's mum had gone there when she was a girl, so there was no end to the stories her mum could tell.

At least this uniform looks okay. Emily speculated, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. She had spent all morning fussing over the white blouse and navy blue blazer and skirt, it hadn't changed it much. The blazer was second hand, and itchy, and the skirt had previously belonged to a much shorter girl, it sat a few inches higher than what Emily would have liked. She tugged at it, already embarrassed about how much leg was showing. Its not like there are any boys here to impress!

Emily stared in awe as her Mum pulled over in front of the school. The school was huge and stone, Emily felt a nervous lump rise in her throat, she had always had the same friends all through school. Everyone had always known who she was, and now she would know no one, and no one would know her. She gave her mum one final glare as she silently grabbed her bag and jumped out of the car. Her mum called out after her, "Be GOOD!" and then pulled back out into the typical morning traffic.

With one last awkward tug on her skirt, Emily turned away from her mum and headed towards the main entrance.

Its the middle of term, everyone will already have friends.. I'm going to be that awkward new girl with no friends like in the movies.. I'll probably sit alone at lunch and everyone will laugh at m-"OOPH!!" she yelped, tripping on a ledge in the cracked and uneven pavement. She stumbled to her knees, her backpack slid up her back and hit her in the head. Humiliated at the snickers of a few students around her, she picked herself up, ignoring the scrapes on her hands and knees, and stormed off towards the information office. Oh my god, I hate this. I hate this school.
I likey!
(Is it ok that I just join in? :/)

Name: Kat
Gender: Female
Age: 7
Height: 3'5"

Description: Kat has dirty blonde hair which she cuts short every couple of months. She looks like a little boy, and in fact mostly wears boys clothes stolen from abandoned houses in the town. Mostly she wears sweatpants and running shoes with warm jackets and tshirts. She has blue eyes, and would honestly be quite beautiful if she had a bath and wore some clean clothes. She is very mature for her age, but relies on her brother for survival.

History: When the growlers started invading her town her father was one of the first to get infected, he returned home and killed Kat's mother and two baby brothers. Kats older brother James and her ran away and have been surviving together for the past year and a half. They camp out in a hunting lodge on the border of the town, and sneak into town frequently to get supplies, weapons, and food. Kat was 5 at the time, and doesn't really remember the "carefree" days very clearly. He brother taught her how to make traps and shoot with a hunting rifle that used to belong to their father. It has been 3 days since James went into the town alone to find some food, and Kat has run out of supplies.

Skills: Kat has a knack for doing things without people noticing, weather its stealing food or sneaking past a hoard. She can climb almost anything. She also has learnt basic hunting and trapping skills from her brother.

Items: Marlin style Hunting rifle, it was designed for woman and children, so its smaller then average, but still longer then her arm, she carries it on a sling over her shoulder. Pocket knife, kept constantly in her satchel. And a stitched up teddy which is also kept stuffed at the bottom of her satchel.
I made my first IC post already so whenever you're good to go!
Not trying to rush ya, I'm just keen to get the ball rolling. :)
