Blake turned to look over at the source of the voice. "Things are going just fine thanks for asking." He replied simply before turning back to look out, he could hear a cricket out there somewhere and the sound was beginning to get on his nerves, did they have crickets in Canada? He wondered to himself, furrowing his brow slightly to think about it. It was cold so probably not, that was good, he had always hated the sound of crickets as he tried to get to sleep, another point in favour he thought to himself.

Jason explained that Karen was still on about riding to the border, he frowned and said. "The day I ride an ass to Canada is the day pigs sprout wings 'n fly over the moon. Why the hell should we ride an animal that needs food and water, with a mind of its own that can get spoked or bitten by a snake or scamper off when we set up camp? 'Specially when we got a set of perfectly good, reliable vehicles just sat there?" He shrugged slightly, still looking out at the road. "I don't care if cowgirl wants to try her luck with the mules and I don't care if you wanna' go with her, I'm takin' the RV, that's final."

I under stand that you dont know me, an i understand that you probably dont know much about big game hunters or the weapons in which they use. But this character is not OP nor was that ever the intention. An just as an FYI big game hunters do use automatic rifles along with heavy pistols, do you assume they only hunt with huge elephant rifles? Anyway its obvious that your judging me straight from the start so thats cool ill just leave. But you know you don't have to be cruel bout it,. An another FYI just so your aware I am more character and plot development driven then shoot em up zombie style roleplays, so thanks for assuming.Peace

I'm not being cruel I'm being honest, I don't like to sugar coat things and I don't like it when people do it to me. I'm not judging you from the start I'm judging your CS and, frankly I think three high powered weapons each with stacks of ammo is more than a little unfair compared to the others, especially when the person using them has spent their entire life and career surviving in harsh conditions. On a side note, I'm not a weapon expert and I don't for a second pretend to be, but taking a shotgun, automatic rifle and a revolver out on a hunting trip sounds unlikely to me.

I'm not asking you to come back or anything I'm simply saying that the opportunity to try again is available.
Looks good to me Darkmarshall, as for starting your character could be in the basement or working with a generator or something, that or just ambling around looking for someone to talk, or maybe have him go somewhere thinking it'll be empty but he finds someone there already. We're not very far in and nothing too exciting's happened...Yet.
Someone grab the defibrillators!
First off, too many powerful weapons and ammo. Stick to one and the knife then split the ammo in half. On a side note why does he use an assault rifle shotgun and revolver if he's a hunter?! Surely he'd be more proficient in the use of hunting rifles and stuff like that.
Second "Occupation: Survivalist" ? What is this DayZ?
Thirdly the group is nowhere near Canada so he'd not "stumble across homestead" after vanishing into the wilderness of Canada.
Fourthly do I really need to explain why having "One of the greatest hunters in the world" who survives the harsh conditions of not just Africa but Canada AS WELL? If he had perhaps spent his whole life in Africa then came to the US on vacation when the outbreak came then I maybe more lenient as he'd not be used to US and Canadian conditions.
As it stands there's a lot about this App that screams OP and suggests you're more interested in killing zombies than character and plot development.
If you seriously want to join make a new application with a more believable and realistic character.
Tarwin continued to glance over his shoulder as the prince communicated his thoughts and strategy, watching elves as a nervous cat watched an angry dog. He turned to look at the map when the prince began pointing out locations and relative positions, the spell sword nodded and smiled at the plan. "It seems great minds do truly think alike." He chuckled lightly before looking once more to the Elven forces, they hadn't moved, the impeccably stiff and rigid formation never seemed to budge and he was glad he was not among the soldiers fighting it head on. At last he pulled the reigns of his horse and turned it to face north. "If we are to ride together we will be more organised but if we split up we could cover more angles and strike two places at once, perhaps creating a diversion. Perhaps..." He pointed to a set of tall rocks behind the formation. "One group could take position there and use bow and magic to draw attention to shift away from the front lines engaged in a skirmish and any rear guards they have. Then from the opening the rest of our party could sneak in and find the prince, then it's a matter of kidnapping or killing him, whichever is most appropriate at the time." With a slight shrug he tapped the side of his horse and began to slowly head north. "Whatever the case I'll make a start on the journey, time is of the essence after all." Waving over his shoulder he kicked the steed sharply and set off into a dash.

By the time night had fallen Tarwin had positioned himself in the cover of a set of berry bushes mere meters from the enemy camp. He scanned the area, in the distance he could hear faint shouts and the clash of steel coming from the skirmish. There were a selection of guards patrolling the rear, not many and they didn't appear to be special in any way, at least not to him. The horses had been left a short distance away, out of sight and detection range in amongst a cluster of trees. Hazim was somewhere nearby along with his other allies, they had spread out and were now waiting for the optimal moment to strike.

Crouching low Tarwin partially unsheathed his sword, keeping it shielded so the faint glow of magic would not be seen, he needed to be ready. His poncho still rested over his shoulders, the material granting him some degree of camouflage, from underneath he pulled out a small hide canteen. He unscrewed the canteen and brought the opening to his mouth before squeezing and feeling the fine mead burning his throat as it went down then warming his stomach in the cool night air. Tarwin gagged slightly, he hated the taste but the curious liquid invigorated him, he'd also spent a small fortune after the merchant had made a particularly good sales pitch and a nomad never wasted money. Wiping his mouth with his hand he replaced the cap and put the canteen away. Now he was ready .
Blake nodded and turned to the shop, he walked over to the doorway and stepped inside, scanning the room for his trusted rifle. He moved forwards and took if from the sparely packed rack of collected weapons, checking the safety was on he lifted the scope to his eye. Jacob had done a good job, the smudges that had accumulated were gone as we're the sticky grease stains by the loading mechanism. He slung the hunting rifle over his shoulder and left the gunsmith's room, considering his next move. The food and fuel supplies were good, the RV was prepared to move, he was armed with his rifle and had two boxes of ammo safely stowed away in the vehicle along with his trusty hatchet, all that was left was to gather a group who wanted to leave. Looking out of the window he saw it was getting quite late, he decided to wait until the morning, he'd move out after breakfast.

Blake headed up the staircase to the top floor of the house, he opened the double doors that lead to the balcony that they used to keep watch. It was a good place to sit and think which is exactly what he planned to do. Who was likely to join him?
First off there was Karen, like him she had made her intentions of leaving pretty clear. She wanted to travel by horse however Blake was confident that she didn't want to travel alone so as long as non of the others agreed with her she'd most likely join him.
Then there was Earl, he was the quiet but he seemed the sort that could handle himself. Blake and he had worked together a few times, he would probably go north.
Jason would be useful, he was from the military, if Karen couldn't be convinced he'd at least have one person with medical knowledge.
Blake wanted Jacob along as well, the man knew guns and that was never not useful. He doubted that the man would have many reservations about leaving.
There were a couple of good salvagers in the group as well, with the slimming pickings they might tag along.
Finally there were the few good fighters, though they likely had mixed feelings.
Who else was there? There was no way he'd be taking babies and old people, too much hassle. He wasn't sure about the views of the other capable members of the group like Mason and his brother, it'd have to wait until the morning.

Leaning back in the chair, he surveyed the surroundings. The main road leading to the main building and motor pool was dead and silent and he couldn't see any movement in the woods beyond, it was dark though so he probably wouldn't see anything until it left the woods and moved to cross the road.
"This the place?" Asked one man, his mask slightly muffling his voice. "I dunno, maybe it's that other fortified farm house lit up like a Christmas tree." A deeper voice replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. A slight thud could be heard as he slapped his team mate over the head. "Now 'member, boss wants the gunsmith and the doctors in one piece." Said a third voice. "We wait for the others to go in then we hit the main door." The voice continued as the group stayed crouching in the shadows, watching the house from their vantage point and waiting...
I'll post soon, also RumikoOhara feel free to PM me about anything you want to discuss.

Name: Bryan Brandybuck

Race: Hobbit

Age: 65

Class: Trader/Rogue

Possessions: Elven cloak, silver short sword, a special set of pipes, sturdy staff/walking stick.

Bio: Born like all hobbits, in the shire, Bryan was raised on stories of adventures had by Frodo and Bilbo to whom he is vaguely related. After the ring was destroyed and peace returned to the land, hobbits began to venture out of the shire more frequently, they formed bonds, relations and agreements with the men of Rohan and the elves of Rivendell. Bryan seized this new openness to become a trader, one of the first to begin importing and exporting luxury goods, he spearheaded a very lucrative business. Perhaps it was something to do with his bloodline but for whatever simply visiting foreign towns and cities to trade wasn't enough, Bryan began to explore the lands further, seeking out treasures and forgotten ruins and tombs. He law less and less of his home as time went on, preferring to move from place to place, seeing sights and using inns or camping in the wilderness. Over the years he picked up a number of skills, the ability to spot and disarm traps, rudimentary sword play and of course, stealth.

Well... My character is an ex forces guy who is still physically fit and relatively young...

Well we submitted our apps around the same time and I thought the GM was still active, it wasn't really my place. Also he's a medic so he's more focused on medicine and support than fighting, sneaking and general zombie apocalypse skills.
In my opinion it's not really much of a trade off I mean if you were to list his skills it'd probably be something like:
Excellent stealth abilities
Proficiency in both CQC and firearns
Great perception with his eyes to make up for the lack of perfect hearing
Leadership and team work
Fitness and strength

To me at least that's not really equal to loss of hearing in just one ear. It's all about keeping a balanced game where all the characters have strengths and weaknesses, I just think having an ex forces guy who is still physically fit and relatively young with the only limitation being dodgy hearing and a guilty conscience is kind of OP compared to other characters.
