A few years after the scheming Apollyon’s demise the three factions - Knights, Samurai and Vikings, are once again locked in a deadly three-way war. The Viking’s attempt to reclaim their land clashing with the Knight’s will to keep theirs and the Samurai’s need for a new home. Unknown to the factions at large, and surely to our heroes, ships of an unknown design are sighted in the west, making their way toward the middle of the conflict. A new challenge awaits our heroes, it is time to find out if a millennia of war has made them stronger, or weaker.
This game vs the original: Many things will be kept from the game such as, hero setup (names, general appearance, general abilities), faction and world history and maps. Try to stay true to your hero, if you are playing a heavy, you will not be able to dodge everything. If you play an assassin, your ability to block is not that great. Other things will be different. Combos will be different since we now work with freeform instead of a game engine, nothing is guaranteed simply because it is so in the original. Unless a move is set up right, it can be defended against. Revenge is no longer something you build up and activate on a whim, but a last-resort power-up. Use it wisely, afterwards you will have a window of exhaustion. There now exists a common language between the factions which all heroes knows. They can still communicate in their faction language, which should not be known to the other faction’s heres.
Generals: Each faction will have a general. These are players who has come forward as knowledgeable of their respective factions. They are the GMs trusted advisors when it comes to any kind of issue, be it with a character concept or action within the game. This does not affect their character or in-game actions in any way. If several people wish to claim the role of general, they will face in a duel if both are owners of the game. Preferably one that is recorded so the rest of us can enjoy the bloodshed.

So sorry for abandoning everyone. I had an unplanned weekend-thing that sucked up a bit more time than I thought. I am back now and have planned some of our group's first steps. All I need to do is complete the OOC, and we're good to go. I should be able to get most of it done today thanks to some help and feedback, but the thread might not see the light of day until tomorrow.
@Cu Chulainn Within the roleplay, as player characters. There may still be other people of the same "type" running around in the world, but not in the group.
@Skyrte Any kind of art will be fine. It really doesn't have to match the game concept that closely either. Basically any viking dude with a big axe can be a Raider and any samurai-looking fellow could be a Kensei or Orochi.
@DriveEMOut Great, Kensei doesn't get enough love :)
@GingerBoi123 Lovely. Raider is a very interesting hero to play around with. Apparently killed it in a tournament not too long ago.
@Zi You'd have to settle for one character, mate. Also, yo would be the general, not your character. For the story I think it would work better if none of us were actually leaders or anything like that. Just regular old heroes ;)
@Skyrte Nice to see, welcome. Also, if multiple people want to be the general for a faction it is to be settled with a duel to the death IRL... Unless someone retracts their claim on the title that is.
Personally I'm torn between the Conqueror and the Warlord. I love defensive heroes, just hunkering down behind a shield and then popping out to utterly destroy my enemies. I'll see which faction gets less love and join that one.
I'll leave the thread up for a while longer to see if we can attract some more players, but I'll also start working on the OOC tomorrow. I don't expect much from the characters as such. Where they have been and what they have done is not the important part, but rather what they will do, so as long as you have some sort of concept in mind it should work out.
Like I said in the OP I would need some help in defining the enemy faction. I have something in mind already, so it's pretty much down to selecting weaponry, apparel and stuff like that. While easy, it does take time. If you'd like to pitch in, send me a PM and I'll give you something to chew on.
@DriveEMOut I would like to say no in the male Nobushi. I would also like to explain why. It basically boils down to two factors: 1. Nobushi is female only in the game. 2. The slim naginata was historically mostly used by women for defence, but a heavier type were used for men. If you really want to have a male Nobushi, do tell me why and maybe I'll lift the ban for you :)
Generals: Any player can be a general and it does not affect their character or anything that happens in game. A general is simply a person who has a broad sense of their faction and its heroes, and is as such able to tell if what a fellow player does is according to or against their faction/hero. I did not express myself clearly about this in the OP, for which I am sorry. Generals are simply supposed to be a kind of co-GM that can keep track of what their faction is or should be doing to take a load off the GM (me).
In For Honor three factions - Knights, Samurai and Vikings are fighting a never-ending battle for supremacy. They are spurred on by Apollyon, a mastermind whose only goal is to release the wolves, people with the will and ability to fight for what they want. In this game, Apollyon and her schemes doesn’t exist, but the war and the heroes does. Our heroes will find themselves in a three-way fight (assuming we get players from all three factions) somewhere when suddenly a new challenger appears on the battlefield. Our heroes must fight for their survival against a force they have never seen before, is it possible that a millennia of war has made them weaker than ever before?
What I am looking for: -General player interest. -Help with defining the new threat. -"Generals" able to handle their faction in-game and aid me in designing missions.
Things we keep from the game: -Hero setup (names, general appearance, general abilities) -Faction and world history. -Map.
Things we'll do differently: -Combos (due to free-form). -Revenge system. -Language (there exists a common language, but secrets can still be told in the faction languages).
@13org I have deliberately not stated where in the kingdom you are actually situated. You may be just around the corner from each other or miles away. You may meet with your fellow players at any time.
@Bishop Armed with beds, great phrasing. There might be an inn if you want there to be one.
