And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

Cull the wicked. Shelter the weak. Onward to a better world for us all.
There will be no immediate interruption, so feel free to go on with the plan @The Harbinger of Ferocity.

Happy Holidays and a very merry Critmas to you all!
Theodore helped Wick up as she reached for his hand, before turning his attention to the bolt of feline enthusiasm appearing by their side with haste he had only seen from her kind. She knew magic now. The templar nodded at the proof of it, but couldn't help but feel a sting within himself as Katia explained having seen the light, having been told to keep going. Cesar had carried the Light. Katia had carried the Light. Wick had got him back on his feet. And what had he done? Absolutely nothing useful, that's what. He, who strove to be the champion to the Light, had been left to play the role of the fool! The only light that graced him was the cruel imitation of the magnificent force that shone within his body. But perhaps it was yet too early to find oneself wanting. He still had time, didn't he? There would be coming chances...

Even with all this rationale, he could not shake the uneasy feeling. Luckily it would be smothered by the anger that bubbled at the Green Man's words. They claimed that a war was to be fought without a meaning in this realm. That if the warriors of Light won, it would ultimately make no difference or maybe even make things worse. His words went against all that the templar taught and Theodore balled his hands into fists. Katia had spoken to the man first, but now it was time for the hatred to boil over and erupt from the mouth of the Monster Slayer. Theodore took two steps forward and pointed a finger at the Green Man, showing beyond doubt the animosity he felt between them.

"We will never become pawns to a mindless conflict. Nor will we fight to preserve any shoddy notion of 'balance' between the Light and the Darkness", he began before briefly switching into the language of Celestials, "The Light provides, preserves and perseveres!" He took a few deep breaths, his pointing finger trembling slightly as he prepared to continue his tirade. And when he opened his mouth again, it was again in the common language of the lands: "We have come to strike back the shadow that consumed our home, we have come to return the radiance of Light where unnatural dusk has settled. We have come to save what we can from the cruel fate that befell our home! And yet, yet, you would see our quest as folly?" He retracted the pointing finger and slammed the resulting fist onto his heart. "I swear that as long as I live and breathe, I will not cease driving back the Darkness. Whether that is what this world wants me to do it or not."

Fionn's introduction was sufficient for Grug, but the end result seemed to have caused some confusion, mainly the assumption that he would have been one of these Kindred this man belonged to. He pondered about correcting the mistake for a moment, but ultimately decided against it. For all intents and purposes, he was working so closely with then now that it mattered not whether he was part of them officially or not. And besides, simply having the excuse to stop for a second, lean on his walking stick for a while and try to catch his breath was plenty enough for him on the meeting of these new people.

Nakreyya had wondered if these people might be the ones he had seen and to be fair a few of them seemed rather familiar. That was why the oracle was not too startled by the drawn gun either, though he kept his tongue ready in case he would have needed to call upon the inhabitant of his shrivelled hand. In the end, the situation was defused and the group set back on walking, now joined by more people after the awakening darkness of the subcontinent. The old Oracle was glad he no longer had to doubt their chances quite as severely as before.

Another grim trek later, the last mile of it being of pure pain to the Oracle's joints already, they found themselves standing before the pillar that had been the centrepiece in many, many of the views the Veil had revealed to him from the grim future. The text splattered on it in blood did little to ease the Oracle, but the fact that it relayed instructions that had been left unfulfilled. To burn all bodies and to scatter their bones. Ravings of a madman to some, knowledge of how to fight against those that raise undead to the others. Grug leaned heavily against his staff, gripping on to it for dear life as it served as more or less the only thing keeping him upright for the time being. Despite great difficulty, he spoke: "We've but made it to the stage of the ruin that is to come if we cannot fulfil our quest. We need to find our way down far below."

Her response did not really surprise him. On one end, it meant that her quest had began much like theirs. There was the chance that she was trying to trick them though. That she was here to see if anyone would admit to serving the theullai and try and stab them in the back or something. But that would be easily verified. Whether Jill had dug the emblem out or not, Dyn's next words would have asked the imprisoned one to show if she had one of those. That was, until his daughter joined the discussion.

That being said, nobody understood a word of what she was saying, or nobody that would speak up anyway. The word 'Marid' remained a constant between the languages, yet with just that not much could be interpreted. Probably asking the same question as everybody else: Whether she was here to hunt down the marid or to help them. Dyn assumed that to be all and now turned to the woman to ask the question he had been meaning to: "Reasons are as many as adventurers. What might seem obvious to one may not be so to another. We, for one, are here to also map this place for a merchant. Would not think so by just looking at us, hmm? Have you heard what the merfolk say of the marid we both seem to seek?"

If we are sharing concepts, were I to end up a part of the crew mine would be a half-orc Paladin, possibly of Oath of Devotion.

Present. I guess I've proven by induction that I can always handle one more adventure. It worked for one and I haven't collapsed yet after adding more, so...
My personal take on the matter is that at times of uncertainty, it is a good idea to have an OOC chat about it and try to come up with something. While you as a player might have an idea, it could be integrated into the head of another character if that would make the scene flow better. Torus is also close to you and the malodorous tanner seems to be doing his job mostly focused on just that. Doing his side job.

I will also answer to any inquiries about possible plans with a benefits VS risks analysis from all your characters can gather. What I recommend now is to seek a course of action with the fellow players, rather than inaction. Both IC and OOC it should be clear that not doing anything will only lead to your demise.

And yes, letting Leosin and Brannor free followed by a GTFO manoeuvre does not sound too bad.
Grug spent most of the flight of KRS Wandering Guardian secluded in his wagon within the cargo bay. He kept staring into the crystal, as if expecting it to speak to him. For some reason he was having difficulty getting started. He didn't even feel them moving yet. Not after a moment, not after another. He wondered what was taking the others so long. Then it was back to staring into the crystal. The Veil seemed to not be willing to withdraw. But why? The Veil had never refused him before! How could he not see into the upcoming fight? Why was this the moment his ability failed him and his allies, now that it was the most crucial that he would see?!

He was already just about to give in when a thought crossed his mind. Perhaps he was trying too hard, or too far. It had always been difficult for him to see the uncertain... he could simply be looking too specifically. What would they see when they would arrive? And suddenly his eyes focused on something nobody else could see. The Veil had withdrawn and Rzail stood before him. The pillar he had seen oh so many times. Him. Humans. Dwarves. More humans. A giant creature as big as seven men that he could only describe as a statue. Then these all faded and another scene took its place. Undead were marching, they had overran... no, that could not be it. The world flashed again, another group standing there, desperately fending off the horde of corpses. No, that could not be it either... that had to be further in the future. Why was everything suddenly so unclear?

The Oracle almost bit his tongue as he forced his concentration to shift between all realities, the timelines that were open to his gaze. A disembodied voice spoke to him. "The Veil protects. Try not break through it, foolish Orc." He recognised the voice. It was Slammy... but when he tried calling out to it, nothing happened. He could not speak. No voice came from his throat, no thought was passed to the creature he did not truly understand. But the scenery shifted. The ship had just landed and outside... Oh no. He was not sure if he could take his wagon with him any longer. The lay of the land... it looked so difficult... rocks, uneven ground, small chasms... no, grass and trees... Many a scene flashed before him, but in the end most seemed to feature the lusher ground, further from the pillar. The journey must be nearing completion. Before his eyes, a series of flashes appeared. A wolvish creature on two legs, accompanied by a man with the weirdest bow and armour he had ever seen jointly attacking a force he could not see. A flash of a magus flying through the air. The statuesque creature again. An entrance to deep underground. Him. Nakreyya. Slammy. Corpses. An entrance to deep underground. Fionn. And a grinning lich floating in the air, the group assembled into combat. The entrance to deep underground.

The Oracle tore himself back to the safe side of the Veil and slowly made his way out of his wagon home, sitting back onto the driver's seat. He didn't know where to begin. Why? What was going on? Why could he not see like he used to? Why had Slammy spoken to him again after all these years? Would he have what it took? He sighed. Now was not the time for doubt. They needed to get back on their fight against the age old evil. And if he died, at least he had tried.

The others soon arrived to the cargo bay, where the Oracle gave them a tired nod. "I see allies in the future. Beyond that... it is difficult to say. I... They are mostly humans. Yet as always, it is an uncertain matter. But I can promise... it is not just us."
