And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

Should have been writing posts. Took part in D&D shenaniganry instead. Got to fix that tomorrow.

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

But the odds of me going a full week in a group rp are very low.
Please elaborate?

By the way, you can post your own char in a separate tab, and it might be advisable to do so. 0.0

I could, am aware of it and many of those things. But I could also be my petty self and demand my character, for once, gets to be the first one in the listing. So I chose to be petty instead

Also, thanks for the input on the guidelines thing. If anyone else has anything to say, I'd love to hear it. By the time all characters have moved on to the appropriate tab I'll get on with the opener post.
Character Listing

  • Gideon Zanhast, the Ruinous Captain
  • Professor Benjamin Babbage, the Inquisitive Researcher
  • ParlĂ© Alfred Zorkybski, the Gabby Gambler
  • Sergeant Cassius Ashdown, the Inquisitive Veteran

Six humans, and a feline most improbable. It might be just a wee bit more than what I had been aiming for, but I don't think I have a particular reason to drop anybody as things are. We shall try how well this works out with a slightly larger group, that we shall.

Which actually brings me to the matter of pacing ourselves. Unless there is a particular disagreement for one reason or another, I would like to propose that everyone should get out at least one post per week. The bare minimum of Advanced according to the official guidelines is two paragraphs and after seeing the character sheets I do trust that everyone can manage that. More is often better, but try not to bang your head against the character limit set for posts by the site, m'kay? Write how much you feel like, I say. If one has any other suggestions, I encourage them to speak now! Easier to change things when nobody has set them anywhere yet!

Feel free to move your sheets on to the characters tab, I'll hotlink them in the 0th post as soon as I see them come up!

@EchoicChamber
I'm afraid you missed the deadline set for the character sheets. But worry not, I'll keep you in mind and poke you if it ever starts looking like we could use new blood!
Hear ye, hear ye! The parliament has, as per the request of the Masters, passed the following official guidelines!
  • Everyone is expected to post at least once per week. If something comes up, do discuss it in the OOC beforehand so we know that we might need to wait a while longer or that we may move on in the meantime.
  • It would be preferable for the posts to be two (2) or more paragraphs in length. No upper limits though! And even the lower limit is a soft one, but kindly refrain from one-lining things (as if that would be an issue :P )
  • The guidelines are fluid. If an issue comes up, either with an existing one or something that should be covered, bring it up.
  • And naturally all site rules apply. For example, if you want to boink you take it out of the public thread.
@shylarah
Well, I cannot say that said statement would be wrong. But if one has any preference at all on which character they'd rather see included, it is for the better to only submit that one.

Regarding Schrödinger, I think the character is fair enough. We'll have to keep the finding of things in check, but I am sure we can manage that. If you would have him tag along with somebody to the masquerade, that would likely be the best solution. I would not invite a cat myself, despite everything. As for Parabola, wellllll with them being a cat I guess it is unavoidable to have such a close connection to it. Besides, I am sure we have a few honey-dreamers here, despite nobody admitting it openly.

@Gordian Nought
Seems fair. By my maths he would have arrived in London in 1869, 7 years after the fall, just in time to witness the war of '70 against Hell itself. But not old enough to be part of the doomed soldiers. One should note that the entrance to the Neath is in the Mediterranean, but apart from that little fact reaching London should not be too big of an issue. There are people who do trade with the surface through the Lamentation Lock, or what else have you.
While it is regrettable that it came to this, this announcement at least provides us with a degree of certainty about the RPs fate, as well as some closure. Perhaps we will indeed see each other again in the future.
@EchoicChamber
Either approach at imagery is fine. As for amount of characters, I strongly recommend only making one, since with the amount of interested players there is no way I can give multiple characters to one player if I want any semblance of the "small group" idea to remain.
@Gordian Nought
How did this fine gentleman find his way to the Neath again? Could you elaborate a bit on that? Immigration of sorts, I take it? How old was he at the time? Does he remember the surface and the sun fondly, or is he happier down here?
@Lady Selune
I believe I may be at fault here for not communicating it clearly, but given how I have yet to actually pick the final roster moving on to the characters tab may have been a bit premature.

Well, no real harm done. Just something that should be considered now that I've actually said it instead of assuming. Again, my bad.
@Ms Ravenwinter
They seem fine to me, so...
@Sofaking Fancy
Approval given. We are starting to look somewhat ready to start, but I would like to give those who expressed their interest in the check the chance to pop in and make a character or say they are bowing out. I think giving them time until... Thursday should be good. Yeah, Thursday. At that point I'll build the final roster and start this thing proper.
