@Goldeagle1221 It's going. Been dry for a while and it's time to break the spell.

@Goldeagle1221 Well hello, drinking buddy.

Natalia remained as quiet as the others as she made her way to the kitchen. The aftermath of the mission had affected them all to such point, and even though every new mission brought on with it new risks, the gamble of death was just about the only factor that remained constant. She pulled some chilled wine out of the refrigerator and poured herself a full glass, then grabbed a napkin and headed to her room. Everyone in the house had their way of dealing with their team members' deaths, and this was hers.

Once in her room, Natalia prepared herself a nice, warm bath. She sat on the edge of the bathtub solemnly looking at the slow-rising water. The same thought always bothered her: What if I'm next? Even though they were always being told not to dwell in the past, Natalia couldn't help but think about how things might have turned out had she or another teammate done something different. Regret had a nasty way of making the young woman feel helpless, and it always took her more or less the same amount of time to get over it.

Eventually, when the bathtub was just about full, she removed her clothes, stepped inside, and began drinking her wine.
Emilie sat quietly in her office, her chair swiveling from side to side as she stared at the ceiling with her arms crossed in front of her. Her platinum hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail, and various strands of hair framed her face more or less the same way she styled it everyday. She was leaning her head against the back of the chair, her mind occupied with a decision that she had to make very soon regarding one of her patients, Lindy Smithson. However, her thoughts were suddenly interrupted when her co-worker knocked and peeked his head from behind the door.

"Hey, do you have a second?" he asked with a tentative smile.

"Sure, what's up?" Emilie sat up straight, readjusting herself on her black leather seat to address whatever concern Dr. Stark had.

He nodded in appreciation and quickly went inside the room, locking the door to her office before making his over to the empty chair across her. "Well, it's about Ms. Smithson-"

"Oh, I was just thinking about her," Emilie interrupted, then quickly apologized for cutting him off.

"Right. Well, I was giving it some thought and I believe that we should go ahead with the procedure to abort. I know the odds are 50/50 in either direction, but why would we take the risk of putting another life in jeopardy for the possibility that the fetus might not cause any complications during birth?" Dr. Stark leaned closer to Emilie, his arms now resting on her paper-cluttered desk. "Think about it, Em, why would we take the chance with Lindy when her baby probably won't make it past a couple of weeks?"

She knew he was right, yet Emilie couldn't help but empathize with Lindy. The girl had gone through so much, but in the end all she wanted was her baby. Emilie let out a sigh, her head resting on her hand. "You're right. As much as we want to personally help her, we have to remain objective here. The mission comes first, right?"

"Always. Anyway, do you want me to contact Lindy to schedule the pre-op or do you want to do that yourself?"

"It's okay, I got it."

A few moments later Dr. Stark left Emilie's office and she was left alone to try to come up with a way to break the news to Lindy. The poor girl probably wouldn't be able to handle it, but then again, that was just one of the many joys of being a physician. Emilie figured she could just head down to one of the pubs later to clear her mind.
Quick question. What's the situation with drugs being smuggled inside the ship when everyone first boarded? Or did that even happen?
Player Name: Heretic

Character Name: Dr. Emilie Marie LaFavre-Stone

Character Age: 31

Character Gender: Female

Profession: OB/GYN

Nationality: Martian

Strengths:

  • Extremely booksmart
  • A problem-solver
  • Empathetic

Weaknesses:

  • Doesn't take criticism well
  • Public speaking
  • Has a history of substance use

Personal Effects: Some clothes, shoes, make-up, etc.; a picture of her family (to include her deceased husband); and a small collection of books based on her specialty, Urogynecology/Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery

Bio: Emilie was born into a small family: Her father, Hunter LaFavre; and her brother 4 years her senior, Derrick LaFavre. Her mother Alicia unfortunately passed away while giving birth to Emilie due to complications beyond control. Such incident is what led Emilie to choose her career path at a relatively young age. Even though Emilie knows that she shouldn't blame herself for her mother's death, she at the very least feels partially responsible for what occurred, but whenever she brings up the topic, both her brother and her father will shut her down instantly to prevent Emilie from going down the ugly path of self-blaming.

Despite the family missing one of the key members in their household, Emilie grew up happily alongside her brother without any major issues. She was a very bright kid from a young age like her father, who was a neurosurgeon and her brother, who was an astronomy professor. Both of them are safely tucked away in cryogenic stasis.

When Emilie was just 15, she met her husband, a guy who'd just turned 17 and was just about ready to head to the service. Emilie and Jason immediately fell in love, and even though they couldn't physically be together after Jason had shipped off to commence his training, the two of them didn't stop writing to each other. Jason eventually became a pilot, and Emilie followed him wherever his military career took him.

After they were both in their mid twenties, the couple started trying to have a baby, but unfortunately, Jason was infertile. The news devastated them, and despite Emilie's growing knowledge of the field, there wasn't really anything she could do. Things only got worse a year later when Jason was killed in action. Upon receiving the news, Emilie had a breakdown, and no one heard from her for days. It was then her drug abuse started, an issue that has been kept at bay for some time but she nonetheless faces struggles every now and then. Being that she had not much else going for her, Emilie decided to dedicate most of her time and energy into her job. It didn't take long for her to start getting noticed in the field, and when they offered her a spot aboard the Vitae, she immediately contacted her father and her brother and accepted the invitation.

Code Word: Spaghetti

@BrutalBx Maybe contact the players and see if they're gone for good. If so, you can kill off their characters and that's how the Texas case ended: a very tragic loss which left us with no other option but to immediately retreat.

But yes, recruitment sounds like a good idea.
@Sarcelle Renard I refrained from having Natalia ask Wyatt who the name was referring to so Kieran can do that.

Interacting with:

Kieran & Wyatt

"Mi amor!" Natalia immediately reached over and hugged Wyatt when he sat next to her in the booth. She had known the man for a long time now, dating back to when she joined the ORO and was sent out on her first mission to the states. The two have been good friends since, seeing each other as often as possible when Natalia just so happened to travel to in his general vicinity.

"You're helpful as usual..." she smiled, taking out a small piece of paper and a pen from her cluttered purse to write down the name he had given them. Clara Crane, gotta remember that one. She then put the paper away, focusing her attention on Wyatt.

"Oh, how rude of me. This is Kieran," she continued, motioning towards her partner, "and yes, he's quite the handsome one, wouldn't you agree?" she smiled, nudging Wyatt on the side in clear view of Kieran.

"Hello there, are you guys ready for drinks?" the waitress said after sneaking up on them.

"Oh, shoot... I haven't even looked at the menu. But hell, can I get a small vanilla shake?"

"Yes you may," she added, quickly writing down Natalia's order on her notepad. "And for you guys?"
