The General Plot


   Long ago at the birth of modern society where our civilization made it's foothold in history, the negative emotions of Humanity have pooled and manifested together into great beasts of shadow and hatred that threatened the safety of those who gave rise to them. For Humanity to thrive the presence of such terrible creatures, magic was used to create a great artifact to control the essence of 5 great elements that made up the world and champion those who would stand against the forces of darkness. The essence of Fire, Nature, Lightning, Metal, and Ice were bound into Five Guardian Maidens who watched over the land. Throughout the countless ages the titles of Guardians were passed on to new, young vessels who carried on the task of protecting mankind from it's own dark emotions made manifest. But it was not enough.

   They could not keep all of the beasts at bay, and soon a great Calamity came in the form of a beast far too powerful for the Five Guardians to keep at bay. All they could do in a desperate attempt to keep the creature at bay was place it under a great seal and leave it to slumber deep beneath the earth. The Guardians became bound to the land that the seal was placed upon, destined to stand watch over the Five Gates that served to maintain the seal. The calamity slumbering below the earth became known as simply "The Fallen," and with it being sealed away the strength of the other beasts that threatened humanity began to dwindle. With the weakening of the Shadow beasts, and the threat of "The Fallen" forgotten to time, Humanity began to thrive and great city was built around the magical sanctuaries where the gates stood. 

   It is now the modern era, and Nesel City as it came to be known is thriving. Under the watchful eye of the Five Magical Maidens, the citizens of the city live in ignorant peace as the beasts are kept at bay and hidden from the modern sight with the magical power of the great artifact that grants their power. The time has come, and a new generation of Guardian Maidens have been chosen; obtaining their tokens that bind them to the fate of Guardian. In modern culture, the popular term for their task has been referred to as "Magical Girls." With the old generation to guide them, they must rise to the task of protecting the Gate Seals and hunting the beasts of manifested negativity for the sake of all!

- Please post in a timely manner, if you do not without letting us know you will have to be kicked from the rp
- Literacy is important! Nobody will stress the small stuff like minor errors but if your posts are consistently of poor quality you're gonna be out. We have to know what you're doing!
- Your character must be approved and added to the character roster before posting in the IC. Please be patient and follow the standard character sheet provided below when submitting.
- I can understand when someone has little to work with from post to posts, but try to post at minimum of 1 to 2 paragraphs when posting!
- There can be only ONE Magical Girl in each generation of each Element, I'm sorry if you want one that's taken but this is non-negotiable!
- You can play up to 2 characters, but you can only play ONE character in each generation and they must be of DIFFERENT elemental types! This is intentionally designed to allow everyone to have someone to interact with at any given time, and allow you to switch off between them as you feel the need to so you can keep things fresh!
 - Remember to tag the people you're interacting with, it's just polite and keeps everyone focused on their interactions.
 - Please respect the rules as posted, and remember to have fun!

Appearance: 
   Pre-Transformation: In her suppressed form Aoi was her natural born self. She had long silky Brown hair that reached down to her ankles, and she wore a standard Miko shrine maiden uniform when attending to her duties at her temple. In her natural form, she had Dark Brown eyes with a wonderfully beautiful complexion. She stood at Five feet, Seven inches, and she was considered to be an incredible beauty in her time.
  
   Post-Transformation (As Pictured): In her Magical Girl form, Aoi's clothes paralleled her shrine maiden attire as they reflected the image of what she thought her attire should be when performing her duties as a guardian. However her entire form took on a light purple aesthetic when she transformed, with her hair, eyes, and clothes becoming nearly lilac in color. In this form, she was significantly more pale and slightly shorter than her normal form. 

Biography/Personality:
   Aoi was always considered a gentle soul when she was a girl, having a particularly soft spot for Koi and pond lotus that she would make a hobby of tending to on a daily basis after her expected duties were fulfilled. When she was chosen as a guardian, before the times of the great seals, it was of no surprise to her that she was chosen to reflect the element of Nature as she had always felt a calling to the bountiful and beautiful plant life that thrived in her home. As her new duties dictated she left her home to travel the lands and seek out the great artifact that bestowed upon her the powers of the trees and flowers, using her gifts to protect all of humanity from the shadow beasts of old. In her culture they were referred to as Yokai, though you'd be hard pressed to find a guardian who still refers to them as such. She served dutifully, until it was her time to pass on her title and she faded into history like all those who had served before her.
   To her friends, she was known as kind, methodical, and prudent in all aspects of her life. She was known to collect flowers in her spare time and studying the arts of medicine in every culture she visited in order to better use her abilities for the sake of others. She was fond of cats, and disliked travelling by sea. Not much else is known about this ancient guardian, though many experts in the historical events of the time note around twenty years after she was chosen as a guardian, the art of Kampo became incredibly popular in her homeland.... 
   It was believed that her championing artifact took the form of a long hairpin that she was often seen wearing in her travels.

As gm I will be selecting my character after all initial submissions so that those who want their choice of element can have the ones they wanted.

"Have you ever looked out off the docks, gazed into the sea and marveled at what could be beyond that endless horizon? In this city, steam bellows out of towers and into the streets as a great fog that shrouds our daily lives in that grey mundane monotony as we go about our way. You can't escape the constant watch of that damnable Academy who thinks just because they run this city they control everything.... Even our very lives... Don't you want something more than this dull life? I know I do... And I know just how I'm gonna do it to! I'll form a crew from the outcasts of this place! Mad Scientists, free Clockhearts, those cast out as thugs and scum, Engineers who were defamed for their uncouth creations, all of them! And together we'll set out into the open sea, and we'll sail away from this city in the middle of the ocean... Together we'll seize our freedom, and we'll stir up some trouble for the Academy while we do it! That's my dream... One big family freak show, just like me... People who reject this way of living with me! Together we'll reach beyond that horizon and we'll see it all..." -- Words from the Young Captain Bailey

Right so the Pitch is simple, in this fantasy steampunk world a band of misfits come together to form a pirate group together and escape the oppression of the "Academy" who has run the government and regulated the technology ever since the city's creation. The city is located in the middle of the ocean and trades with other locations in the world, but because of the nature of the government and the way the world works those who have been born in the city have never seen beyond the docks. The city is filled with steampunk technology, and intelligent clockwork robots known simply as "Clockhearts" that are strictly regulated to maintain obedience. We'd be interacting on the ship, exploring the close by world, causing trouble for the Academy, and making a living off plunder and our own devices. There's a few plot hooks we could explore towards an endgame, but this is just a rough pitch to see if anyone would be into the concept! Thanks for checking it out!
