Bio

A writer, artist, animator, worldbuilder. In short, jack of all trades, master of some.

For the most part, I've retired from roleplaying. For quite a long time, what kept me tied to RPG was the Spam community—but even that I have distanced myself from. Now, my focus is on the writing contests.

I consistently try to write reviews for RPGC, and I consistently enter the Twelve Labours.

First labour; world of Archipelago, Jack.
Challenge: an unwelcome death.
For next entry: characterization.

Second labour; world of Uberpowered, Émile.
Challenge: an unfortunate fortune.
For next entry: pacing.

Third labour; world of Cinderlore, Caerys.
Challenge: an unforgiving ambition.
For next entry: proofreading.

Fourth labour; world of Supers, Joshua.
Challenge: an uncompromising betrayal.
For next entry: development.

Fifth labour; world of Mutamorphis, Olrich.
Challenge: an unrepressed motive.
For next entry: development, dammit.

Sixth labour; world of Mythos, Melas.
Challenge: an untenable alliance.
For next entry: dénouement.

Seventh labour; world of Hatemongers, Talahn.
Challenge: an unbearable sacrifice.
For next entry: cast utilization.

Eigth labour; world of Mythica, Céline.
Challenge: an unwinnable challenge.
For next entry: plot cohesion.

Ninth labour; world of Nardja, Albiorn.
Challenge: an unknowing accomplice.
For next entry: narrative set-up.

Tenth labour; world of Magestones, Ariana.
Challenge: an unwilling inspiration.
For next entry: narrative set-up, dammit.

Aëyr, selkie. Western Watch Tower.
Slippery, Stealthy, Endurance Training; running and aquatic conditions.

Seeing the woman clutch her arm in pain, Aëyr snatched her swinging sling out of the air and returned it to its previous location around her waist. They are intelligent, she mused. They were probably humanoids themselves, and by their perceived height, she made note to aim a little higher than their illusory forms gave away, should it come to a fight.

Of all her companions, she who intrigued Aëyr the most was the sprite, who took to singing for no apparent reason. Cute, she pondered, but a little out of place.

Nevertheless, it seemed to have drawn forth the attention of a young girl. A girl who, for whatever reason, seemed to be working on the side of the lunatics taking control of the town.

The game she proposed was familiar to Aëyr; chess, a challenge of wits and foresight. She herself had learned some of the rules of the game, but she fully expected that were it to come to a duel, she would be at a significant disadvantage.

Luckily, the sprite seemed to betaking some control of the situation. Better she than I.

Still, she might as well make some use of herself. "What rules, if I may ask, shall there be to this game? Are there—" Aëyr stumbled over her words for a second. "Special rules? Or conditions, we must follow?"
I have a post coming up in the near future.

This is what I usually consider when theme songs come up. There may be something better out there, I might have to do more searching.

Please tell me you'll destroy Quebec first.

It's not all bad. Without it, Canada just wouldn't be the same.

Am I a boob or a Draenei?

I see a tentacley-thing.
I think I'll be able to string together an entry this month.

Looking forward to it. ;]
Eira, Mercy. South-East block.
Mech pilot: Medium armour, 2x.50cal, jets & supportsys.

The panic she had felt at having Mercy's arm torn off only accentuated the relief she felt when the Achilles Heel came to her rescue. The imminence of death upon her, her previous calm had shattered, but not her resolve in the slightest. I would die for my comrades, she realised. I would die for my objective. She couldn't decide whether this realisation gave her relief or fear.

Probably a bit of both.

The beast was still behind her, as dangerous as ever, and she had no way of knowing how long the Achille's Heel could hold it off of them. They needed to get out, and the cover fire she had been about to call in for had come just in time.

I'm gonna bloody live if I have to.

Not taking the time to do a full evaluation of the damage caused by the loss of an arm, Eira turned Mercy around and sprinted after Roman. She could see that he'd found two exits, and was deciding between them. One was in the direction of freedom, the other the fog. And he seemed to have chosen to go into the fog.

Mildly cursing her luck, she activated the life support systems in her mech without breaking stride and followed after him. As the stale air began to fill up her cockpit, she slung a gasmask over her face as an added precaution. She trusted the mech's ability to keep her breathing, but if ever there was a breach, she wouldn't want to be caught unprepared. As she was becoming fully aware, the slightest mistake could get you killed.

Roman said he saw some movement, she reminded. Let's hope they're friendlies. She would trust Roman's judgement, but at the same time, she was hoping to survive this mission.
By the way, because my drawing is taking longer than projected, I might as well give a brief overview of physical differences between [my fantasy-setting interpretation of] selkies and humans. There aren't that many, but they may be significant.

Her eyes are completely black.
Her nose is not very pronounced. (Halfway between normal and Voldemort, I guess?)
Her ears do not extend outside her head: they are more like bumps on each side with a hole in it. (Mostly hidden by hair anyways, though.)
Her eyebrows are small.
She bears opposable pinkies. I'm still working on the hand's skeleton, so I haven't quite figured out if she has an opposable thumb too.
Her digits are partially webbed.

That's about it. Drawing may make it more clear, once my drawing is good enough for display.

Breaking from anonimity for a second, I chose the people who are the most active right now as the characters and Kaga, Squee, Nurgs, and Drakel as the main cast.DarthWarman as the incompetent antagonist.

Hmmm. I like the cast, but now the length of the book and the genre and quality of writing come into play.
