There was a brief pause between the handshake and Aerex' response. Bidzil's words hung in the air without an answer, with Juliana shooting concerned glances at Aerex.
"Follow me. We can sit down over here." Before turning around, he gestured at Juliana. "Close down for the day and go on home. I'll pay you for the full day."

"But-" Before she could insist, he waved his hand and shook his head.
"Please?"
"Sure." The woman gave Bidzil a small smile and a nod, before heading out of the shop. Silently, Aerex made his way through a set of decorative curtains toward the back of the shop.

Bidzil returned the smile and nodded to the girl as she departed. He picked up on a feeling like something was wrong from the short awkward silence and her look toward him, so he tried not to bring it up further. "Sorry if I'm interrupting anything..." he started as he walked through the store and then through the decorative curtains. "Wow, you have quite the set up out here. This shop is huge. I guess your work is popular her, huh?" he said with a slight grin, trying to lighten the mood a bit.

Behind the curtains was a large room, mostly filled with rolls of fabric, some of which hung on the walls. Others were sitting on tables as part of ongoing projects, while some were waiting to be picked up. Overall, Aerex' workplace was orderly and neatly organized. Each roll was placed on the walls or on baskets by color and type. Bidzil followed Aerex up a set of stone stairs at the end of the room. Aerex seemingly didn't listen to what Bidzil had asked or decided to ignore him.

Going to the second floor, they arrived at what was Aerex' house. A single wall split the room in two. One side, the one both of them had arrived in was a small kitchen and living room, while the other side was a bedroom.

"It is. Keeps me busy too." Aerex replied finally, clearing a wooden table in the middle of the room of some clothes he had been working on earlier. "May I offer you something to drink? Tea?"

The store was admittedly bigger than what Bidzil remembered Aerex's father having, much finer works and cloths as well. Bidzil thanked him as he sat down at the table and Aerex asked about a drink. "Thanks, I'd appreciate it. Tea or water is fine, whichever is easier, I don't want to be a bother." He was quiet for a moment as he looked around the small home. It seemed comfortable enough, and it wasn't uncommon to see someone's home above their shop. Bidzil's face dropped a bit when he knew he had to tell Aerex about why he was here. "I don't know if you have or not, but have you heard any news of what happened in Trantis recently?"

"Not since I arrived." Bidzil heard Aerex approach, carrying two glasses of water. The Grusk sat down across him. "Did something happen?"

Bidzil thanked him for the water and took a sip before setting it down. He took a deep breath and held it before exhaling heavily from his nose. "I...I was over in Salna, running an errand of sorts, just a couple weeks ago. Millan wanted me to pick up a surprise package from him....By the time I arrived back to Trantis....everything was wiped out.....all the people were just....gone. There was no struggle, people's clothes left behind where their bodies would be, still warm to the touch." Bidzil shook his head at the eerie sight of it all. "The whole lake was empty, void of any water. The buildings that resided on it all crashed to the lakebed. Something.....just.... destroyed it all. I don't even understand why! Bidzil's voice rose as he thought more about it. "I don't know of any enemies we had currently, and yet.....everyone...." He was silent for a moment as he focused on the glass between his hands.

"I returned to Salna when I could. On the outer wall, written in the blood of a few guards that were slain hours before, was a message....it said 'A new king rises, the Grandis Empire has returned...."

Aerex stared blankly out the window in front of him. His eyes pierced through the curtains to the outside. Slowly, his head turned toward Bidzil, giving him that same blank stare.
"There's no way. No."[/color] He muttered, in denial of Bidzil's story

"I can't rightly say what is a myth now. But I do know this. No mere bandit could destroy all of Trantis in an afternoon. Everyone was gone, yet with no sign of combat. Their clothes and belongings still where they left them. The entire lake was drained, the river leading into it dry as well." Bidzil looked up to Aerex. "It's already gone, Aerex. If I die chasing some fairy tale with what little hope I have left, so be it.... If I'm wrong, nothing has changed....but if I'm right, it will make all the difference."

"I..." Aerex looked away for a moment. "I'm sorry for snapping at you. I just... couldn't believe our home was... gone." He took a deep breath and returned to the stove. Taking two decorated porcelain cups from the cupboard he served up tea for the two of them, sitting down across the table from Bidzil he took a sip from his tea.

"I'm not sure how much help I can be to you. I don't know how to fight and I have a shop to tend to. Either way, at least I know what happened..."

"I'm not asking you to join me. I didn't come here to recruit. I'm on my way to finding a treasure from these lands, part of the steps needed for finding the vanishing kingdom apparently. I can't ask you to throw away your livelihood for this."

"I wish we could have seen each other again under better circumstances." Remarked Aerex. "I'm glad nothing happened to you. Anyway..." He glanced down to his teacup. "...you can stay here if you like. I have space if you don't want to spend your gold at the local inn."

"I wouldn't want to impose, but if it's not a problem, I'd be very thankful," he said before hearing a commotion outside. it was caused by a group of people in town following Valia and Allanon up to the temple. "Huh, wonder what's got everyone riled up?" Bidzil pondered as he sipped the tea. "Hmm, not bad." he commented on the tea.

"It's no problem at all. Maybe then we can have some time to catch up." Aerex briefly paused as he heard noise outside. But, like Bidzil also ignored it. "And, thank you. My mother used to make tea for us all the time. Taught me how to pick the best leaves at the market."

It didn't seem that Bidzil could completely put the crowd out of his mind as he would occasionally glance out to the growing crowd. He nodded his head at Aerex mentioning where he learned to make tea as he took a drink from it once more. "She did well. As for catching up, I'd be glad to. But I do need to go by the market before the pack it up for the day, so I may head that way here shortly, that is, if the people are even at their stalls. Seems like a good number of the people are in the square now."

Aerex also glanced out the window, spotting the crowd gathering in the square. "Come. I'll go with you. Let's see what's going on."

Bidzil nodded to Aerex and finished both his tea and water. "Alright, sounds like a plan," he said with a smile as he stood up. He let Aerex lead the way back out of the house. When they arrived on the square, many people were milling about, some speaking in hushed tones while others were more vocal with their accusations.

"Who was that strange man with Madame Valia!?" shouted one. "She looked rather injured, who could have possibly done such a thing," another said, a bit more worried looking. A brutish man then turned to Aerex as he heard him and Bidzil walking up. While he recognized Aerex, he didn't recognize Bidzil. His eyes narrowed at him but he didn't voice his suspicions right off. "Tailor, Madame Valia does business with you plenty, surely you may have heard more of what has happened?" he asked. Valia did quite often come to Aerex's shop for new clothes, sashes or tapestries. She was always amazed by his works. "Some people that checked on her place found two dead men inside, the whole place trashed. And some strange man carried her into the temple just a moment ago, but they haven't come out yet."

"I have not seen her today." Aerex replied with a concerned tone. He glanced at the temple and back to the bystander. "I've been working on a personal piece all day. Don't know much else, I'm afraid."

Koch did everything he could, seeking out the best doctors through his grandfather and other family members. He attended the most prestigious medical university in Portea and spent years learning the practice, eventually graduating as a doctor. After that, he left Portea, practicing medicine free of charge at small towns across the continent. He used his combat skills he learned at an early age to survive the roads and his knowledge in business to set up a travelling clinic that would move from place to place as needed. One year.

It had been exactly one year since Aerex saw Joan for the last time. To this day it was hard to explain why he left. An affair? Frustration? Both. It was unlike Joan to not even say goodbye however. An air of mystery surrounded the disappearance, and no city guard ever raised a finger to help. Some days, Aerex would wake in a cold sweat after a nightmare, missing his partner’s embrace. Eventually, he was a able to bury those feelings in his work. Tailoring had become his life. An obsession, almost. Every day, it was all he did aside from tending the house, eating or bathing. Nothing else was worth it anymore, he thought. He’s lost everything he had ever cared about. Now he needed to hold one to what was left, what his father had taught him. Despite this, today was a specially hurtful day. The anniversary of his disappearance.

Aerex awoke following a nightmare, shook it off and refused to even ponder on it. He followed his usual routine, a bath followed by breakfast. Then, heading outside, he opened his shop. Aerex Tailoring. After that, it was a matter of settling in and wait for customers to walk in. Today however, he had left his assistant Juliana, a local girl who he had hired a few months before, to watch over and tend to the counter at the front. These past few days he hadn’t even been seeing customers in the eyes. He would only take requests, finish the work, and have his assistant deliver. Despite her refusals, he offered to pay her extra for the additional work. It was only fair. After all, it was him who felt like he couldn’t look at anyone else in the eye without stuttering. Simply put. Out of all days, he wasn’t interested in other people. Just his work.

Aerex sat in a room especially made for his tailoring work. The room had a single window and door, with the rays of the sun pouring in and touching the hanging expensive fabrics on the walls and tables. Aerex sat in a chair, and began to work on a top he had our off for months. An anniversary gift for Joan. Slowly, he paired and stitched together intricate patterns upon the cotton fabric. Each thread, hand sewn to perfection. He was almost done with the shirt, the final piece of the white set that also included a pair of trousers made in linen fabric. Once it was finished, it became impossible to contain tears he had been holding since he began. If only he would have done better. He should have never left. Before he could ponder any further, Juliana knocked on the room’s door.

“Excuse me, Aerex? Someone by the name of Bidzil is asking for you in the front.”

It took Aerex a moment to respond. Taking a deep shaky breath, and cleaning off his tears with his sleeve, he set the clothes he had just made on a table beside him.

“Tell him-” He took a moment to compose himself. “Tell him I will be there shortly.”

“I will!” Said Juliana, hearing her step away from the door and back walk back to the front.
Aerex sighed, taking one last look at the clothes he had made for Joan then turning to the door.

”Bidzil? Why does that name sound so familiar?” Aerex mused to himself, opening the door and heading to the front desk. Once behind the counter, he stumbled upon a male customer standing by some designs that adorned the walls of the front of the shop.
CHARACTER SHEET

Name: Aerex

Age: 18

Race: Grusk

Appearance

Personality:

Aerex is a introverted person, not prone to engaging in large social gatherings or groups. Running his tailoring shop on his own, he mostly keeps to himself and prefers to help his community through his tailoring skills. Keeping his social circle small, he cares deeply about the people who he trusts and calls friend, going to great lengths to satisfy their needs. At the same time, he can be seen as controlling with his attempts to keep people he really cares about close to him to avoid meeting the same fate as his parents. Lacking skills in conversation, Aerex compensates with a sense of style taught to him by his father. He will always look presentable for every occasion, but will avoid being the center of attention, especially during conversations and social gatherings. Aerex prefers to listen over speaking, only stating his real thoughts when asked. Usually, he will allow other people to lead, especially when among strangers, avoiding any sense of responsibility among those he doesn’t know or trust completely. Over the years, Aerex has buried a deep sense of regret and depression over the loss of those he loves through his work as a tailor and extensive reading. Aerex will go to great lengths to avoid trouble and confrontation with others, usually caving to demands if threatened with someone or something he cares about.

Bio: As every Grusk after the Crusade, Aerex was born to a refugee family. His father was an accomplished tailor, while his mother had retained the magic practices of their ancestors, and worked as a scribe. Before Aerex, the couple travelled from village to village, finally settling in a human settlement near Trantis. Aerex was born in an unexpected pregnancy, with neither of them planning to have children. Upon having Aerex, the two did their best to raise a child who would know his Grusk ancestry, but also keep it a secret.

In his teenage years, another family had moved in. The family's son, Joan became fast friends with Aerex, both boys sharing their fascination with the nearby forest, and their interests in the small insecf creatures and other animals that inhabited it. A few years later, Joan's family was killed in a freak fire, that destroyed their home and belongings, taking the entire family along with them, with only Joan managing to escale thanks to Aerex' heroics. Joan was taken under the wing of Aerex' family, becoming a part of it and even closer to Aerex. Eventually, the two developed a romantic relationship.
As Aerex grew older, he began to have disagreements with his family, especially about hiding who they were, and the constant game of pretend they were forced to play in order to continue living among Humans. In a heated argument, he left, taking Joan along despite his protests.

Joan and Aerex travelled East, leaving behind the village of their youth and finally settled in Kalla. With what little money Aerex had saved, they managed to buy a house, which Aerex turned into a clothier store shortly afterward. In public, Joan and Aerex passed close relatives, maintaining their relationship private. Aerex became known as a master tailor in the small town.

Two years later, a courier delivered a letter to Aerex, telling him that his mother had fallen ill. In a panic, and regretting his decision to leave je decided to return to Trantis. Joan offered to remain behind and watch over their store. Despite Aerex' protests, Joan insisted and Aerex returned to his childhood village.
By the time he had arrived, his mother had already passed, a week before his father had died of grief. Devasted by the loss, he gathered what he could carry from his old family home and returned to Kalla. Upon his return, he discovered that Joan had gone missing several days before.

For months, he searched everywhere, hiring bounty hunters with what little money he had to find him to no avail. Overcome by grief from the loss of his parents, and the heartbreak of his lover going missing, Aerex withdrew to the and long-winded process of tailoring, becoming a solitary and mostly silent young man. While he keeps to himself, Aerex contributes to the community through his master skills at tailoring and armor making, with many coming to his store to procure expensive pieces of clothing or specialized armor or accessories.

Equipment:

-Journal
-Pen & ink
-Portable sewing kit
-Utility knife

Abilities:

Hard light materialization- can create physical objects by compressing the light around him and forging it into a physical object. Small objects are quick to make, though the larger objects require more time and energy respectively. This sudden absorption of light can cause what can be described as a 'negative flash', a quick flash of utter darkness as the light is taken from his surroundings.

Tailor and Smithy- can mend clothing and gear for the party when they get damaged.

Chameleon- can alter the color of his appearance and objects that are touching his body.

Moon of Auraxis
Zion System
Year, 5777

For nearly fifteen years, I had been living in peace with my wife and child. My wife Tanaris and I had run away from what would have sure been hell. It was best for us… for Enric especially. They would have hunted us down if we didn’t leave Zion. Even now, writing this, I choke down my tears… I am tired of this sadness inside of me. I know it is not what Tanaris would have wanted. She always said she loved my smile. Always said Enric had it. Maybe… but he’ll always have her eyes. A deep gold that glows in the darkness. Some found it unsettling… I… I always found them enthralling. I couldn’t help but stare at times. Looking at Enric now, his eyes always remind me of his. Anyway… enough about the past…

I fear that Four has found us. Just yesterday I found a Paragon drone near the farm. I’ve had no sleep since then. Enric doesn’t have to know… Just in case I have prepared a pack with essentials and other things so that he can escape through the tunnels and get to the city. It isn’t the safest place, but Tanaris told him what he needed to do in the event anything happened to ether of us. If the big men dressed in black come to the house, run… Those were her orders. I know Enric knows it. I don’t know if Enric has ever realized in the danger we live daily. I hope he never realizes it. At least, not fully.

As for me. I am growing old. I’m tired of running away… I am ready for whatever comes next.

Enric… if you ever find this, I’m sorry I never told you the truth. Read my journals… you will know then. Even if we never showed it. Even when we seemed so far away.

We always loved you…

Doctor Telsh closed his journal. An old leather cover paper journal. A rarity these days, but the most reliable. It was one of a set of journals he had made. All of them stored in that bag he would give his son if he ever needed to run. He sighed as he placed the last one within the backpack and stored it under his desk. A beeping sound from one of the far off sensors located outside the farm alerted him to visitors. Grabbing his pistol he rushed to the entrance...

Meanwhile, Enric played outside. A kite, made with a plastic yellow sheet and a pair of wooden sticks flew with the wind. Smiling, he imagined it as if it were the ships that passed over their farm several times a day.
“One day… I’ll fly one of those ships. You’ll see.” The boy assured, making noises of a ship engine with his mouth. The sound of the door made him turn to see his father run out past him and looking over the many hills that dotted the green landscape of the moon. Telsh’s eyes widened as a black ship went over the hill and toward them.

“Enric! In the house, now!” He told his son, running back to the home. Enric dropped his kite and sprinted toward their home. Once inside, Telsh fetched the pack and gave it to the twelve-year old.
“Son… listen to me very carefully. Remember what your mother had said? About the tunnels.”
“Dad…”
“I need you to go. Run… far away from here, understand?”
“But why…?” The boy was on the verge of tears. First his mother had vanished and now… he had to leave his father behind. Tensh hugged him, holding back his own tears.
“Please. Trust me. I want you to be safe. Go…”
Nodding, the boy headed off to the hatch hidden beneath a rug in the living room.
“Enric…” Said Tensh, his voice breaking. Enric turned, as he opened the hatch.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, dad…”
“Go… get away from here!”

As the hatch closed and Enric vanished within the tunnels, Tensh took a deep breath and hid the pistol under his brown trench coat. Stepping outside, he began a slow walk toward the new arrivals. Their ship had long since landed, and the group of five men began to approach the farm. The doctor and the group met in the middle of the field in front of the home. Five men, four of them wore perfectly plain black suits and hats, along with sunglasses. While the man in the center, he stood out the most. A black trench coat covered most of his body, while a long trimmed hat sat on his head. What was visible of his skin, mostly his face was pitch black. And his eyes glowed an intense purple.

Tensh tensed up as he saw the man but stood his ground.
“Doctor Tensh…” Said the purple-eyed man at least, his voice was cold, and sounded almost like a whisper. Even though Four was hundreds of years old, he maintained the appearance of a young man in his twenties. Even when he looked almost malnutritioned…
“Four…” Muttered the doctor.
“You know what we have arrived for. Return the child.” Demanded Four.
“He was never yours. Nor will he ever be…”

Almost 30 feet away, a boy with yellow eyes watched. Enric couldn’t help himself… he felt he needed to know who his father had been so afraid all these years. However, upon seeing the men in suits he hid. A mixed feeling of curiosity and fear held him in place. He hid between a set of tall of grass and watched.

“I do not wish to harm you, Doctor Tensh. Your expertise are still valuable to this company.” Four took a step forward along with his guards. In response, the doctor shook his head in denial. “It is all we are to you. Assets… Never again!” As he said that, Tensh drew his pistol. A flurry of directed-energy flew across the air hitting the four guards in their torsos. They fell to the grass with loud thuds.
“That was a mistake…” Hissed Four as he grabbed Tensh by his neck, raising him in the air. Looking up, Tensh saw the grotesque face of the man threatening to snap his neck with a single hand. Part of Four’s jaw was part skeleton, a pitch black bone that showed under the remaining thin yet young looking skin. An injury by Tanaris no doubt…

“Tell me!” He yelled, squeezing the doctor’s neck. A weak “no” escaped Tensh’s lips. At that moment, Four tensed his grip enough to snap Tensh,s neck. Going limp, Four tossed the body on the ground. Running from his hiding place, Enric emerged but stopped as Four laid eyes on the boy.
“Dad…” He muttered, before the realization finally hit him full force. Enric’s eyes widened and tears fell down from his eyes.
“Father!” He screamed, as Four grinned. At that moment, the guards who had seemingly died sprung back to life. With a wave of his hand, the four men in black began to slowly walk toward the boy. Terrified and still processing what had happened he began to take steps backwards. Then, he turned and ran. Even when the plants cut at his arms he kept running and running. Reaching an exit of the tunnel he opened the hatch and hoped in, closing it above him. Sliding down the tunnel wall, Enric brought his knees to his chest and began to cry. His mother disappeared… and now, his father… what had happened. Enric felt confused and alone… Regardless… something in his mind snapped and that made him stand up. Something told him to keep going. He needed to go to the city. No matter what…
