Name: Samantha Riley

Callsign/Nickname: River

Age: 27

Gender: Female

Occupation/Rank: Specialist, Rifleman

Affiliation: Echo Squad, 2nd Platoon, 217th Marine General Combat Battalion, United Earth Government Naval Command

Appearance:

Personality: Riley is a feisty and harsh young woman, having an intolerance of bullshit. She hates it when the male soldiers she serves with attempt to flirt with her, occasionally beating up offenders. She has a love of alcohol, and isn't afraid to play rough if the need arises. She takes her duty as a soldier very seriously, having pledged her life to Earth, her colonies, and humanity as a whole, which is why she has a bitter hatred of the alien Vaskran Empire. She is ever-loyal to not only humanity, but her squadmates in Echo Squad as well.

History: Riley was born on the world of Avalon in the Inner Colonies, a continental world and the home of the Avalon Aerodynamics Corporation, an interstellar empire that manufactures aircraft for military and civilian use. Her older brother was a Marine, and she looked up to him ever since she was young. She saw him as a hero, no matter how dangerous he said it was. Eventually, after graduating college, she joined the Marines, reasoning that it was either that or become a test pilot for Avalon Aerodynamics. During her early years, she fought in the Colonial Uprising, a conflict fought between the United Earth Government and rebel colonies who did not want to live under the UEG's rule. The conflict had been going on for more than a century.

Then the Vaskrans arrived, a race of intelligent reptilian aliens. The aliens chased a human mining ship that had unknowingly intruded Vaskran space back to the world of Cascade in the year 2843. She was stationed on the world of Axiom when the news of hostile first contact and subsequent Battle of Cascade reached the other colonies. The UEG was put on high alert activated Contingency Alpha, an old contingency order that dictated that if humanity ever encountered hostile intelligent life, then the survival of the human race would be the number one priority.

Humanity went to war again, not against itself, but against an alien empire. Colonies fell one by one as humanity was pushed back. While the UEGNC won numerous battles, it was balanced by the Vaskrans winning even more.

And so, Riley was sent along with her squad in the 217th Marine General Combat Battalion to retreive vital alien technology that could possibly turn the whole war around. She wasn't expecting to find some kind of diamond that zapped her with a beam of energy and knocked her unconscious.

Weapons and Equipment: Standard Rifleman gear, consisting of:
  • ACAR-38: The standard issue assault rifle for every Marine. It, like all other kinetic weapons of the UEGNC, uses a coil propulsion system to fire 8.41x63mm armour-piercing rounds at incredible speeds and range. It has a selective fire mode and can fire single shots, burst shots, and full auto. Comes with an undermounted grenade launcher.
  • G119: Standard issue sidearm. Fires 12mm rounds.
  • E31 Homing Grenade: Frag grenades that home in onto targets when thrown and detonate.
  • 12-inch Durasteel Combat Knife: A combat knife sharp enough to pierce through thinner layers of underarmour bodysuit.

Skills and Abilities: Riley is an experienced soldier, having fought in numerous engagements over the course of the war. She is highly skilled in close quarters and hand to hand combat, easily beating men with the same skill. She is also rather analytical, pointing out flaws in orders and plans. Other than this, she is handy with her rifle and quite a good shot.
What if the minds of a tomboyish female soldier from the distant future and a princess from a fantasy world switched places?

Origins

(History, should include what they were pre-collapse and how they took power. Feel free to list any business relations and subsidiary companies in here if you feel like collabing with other players. Reminder that the Great Collapse happened in 2031, the current date is 2099 and the RP will be starting in the summer.)

Leadership

(Self explanatory, how is your megacoroporation run? Is it run like a traditional business with CEO and board of directors and stuff, use something modified like all power is given to the CEO or whatever or is there some semblence of a national government involved? Do you play government and have rigged elections and play games of faux democracy or are you open about how things really are?)

Major Industries/Brands/Subsidiaries

(Pick up to four industries that your company specializes in and then choose one of the four to be your "original industry". Also put the effect that it would have next to it if you so wish.)

Company Culture

(Basically the culture of your corporate state and its business and social policies as well as its modus operandi and ethics or lack there of. Could also put in how you present your company to the public over how its actually done.)

Security Detail

(Your "military" more or less only reskinned for PR reasons. These people are no longer just fat security guards with handguns but more akin to professional military either directly controlled by you or contracted from a subsidiary or friendly company. They act as both your soldiers and in some cases, your police force but have access to more advanced and heavier weapons and even have their own vehicles and air support.)
@ClocktowerEchos

Ha, yeah. I was going to start an NRP called Warfare Incorporated that was similar to this, just set on another planet in the distant future. I stopped when I realised that I head no prior experience in NRPing. This is probably going to be my first one.

Probably claiming Canada as my territory.
Before you can create your characters, I'll explain the classes. Every member here wears a powered exo suit, like the ones in Advanced Warfare.

The Team Leader is equipped with an assault rifle and pistol, and command module to command his team

The Support is equipped with a light machine gun and rocket launcher.

The Engineer is equipped with a shotgun and pistol, and repair kit along with a portable sentry gun.

The Medic is equipped with a submachine gun and pistol, and a medkit to heal teammates.

All members use a knife for melee combat. No lasers or energy weapons.
The following footage is presumed to be a distress call transmitted from the Unified Federation of Earth research facility located on the ice world Axis Mundi in the Kelvin VII star system. The facility lost all contact with the UFE three days ago, and this transmission was only picked up by the UFE Dauntless-class scout ship Hannibal when it jumped in-system to investigate.

[It is of note that this log was recorded two days before the facility went dark. Timelogger appears to be malfunctioning]

[Satellite transceivers were found to be operational during initial arrival and scan. The cause of this error is unknown.]

[Footage begins, shows man in dark room wearing a lab coat, his face lit by the glowing holorecorder. Upon closer inspection, he appears to be tired, with bags under his eyes along with several injuries on his face. Records identify him as Doctor Winston Cornell.]

Okay, is this thing on? [Cornell taps recorder] Oh, good. Look, I don't know how many of us are left, but my name is Doctor Winston Cornell. I'm a researcher in the Axis Mundi Research Facility. We were sent here to research the anomalous properties and unnatural ice storms on this planet. The storms normally lasted for an hour or so, they kind of acted like blizzards that seemed to go all directions at once, sweeping over the planet. For some reason, they became more frequent and destructive when the facility was set up. Uhhh... [Cornell pauses and quickly glances around the room] Everything was fine until around two weeks ago. See, we uncovered a large cave in the ice some time ago, and it strangely seemed to be protected from the storms, just that one feature. Of course us eggheads were driven by curiosity, and we delved deeper and deeper into the cave.

[Cornell stops again and takes another quick look around the room]

Well, about two days after we began our expeditions, someone slipped and smashed into an ice wall, causing it to break down. We noticed that it lead into another cave, and we decided to explore further. At the end of the cave we... we... [Cornell pauses, with a look of slight joy on his face] We found some sort of spacecraft, frozen in a massive solid lake down below! It was incredible! It was a sign that we were perhaps not so alone in the universe after all! The higher-ups began organising multiple expeditions into the alien craft. Each one brought back more and more pieces of technology. Then something happened. Several days after the discovery, a team found a functioning piece of machinery. In an attempt to move it, they accidentally disabled it. The thing was, the ice storms seemed to cease just after its removal, leaving us to draw the conclusion that it was the cause of the storms. We hastily retrieved it and began our study, wanting to see if it was a sort of weather control device. But...

[Cornell looks around nervously]

Just a day after the storms stopped, everyone on the research team began experiencing horrific nightmares, me included. I dreamt that I was alone in a frozen white void. I wandered for a bit, and then the void started to fall apart, distorting and warping into a frightening hellish world, where I could hear tortured screams. And there, in front of me, were the heads of the team that had removed the device, stuck on sharpened poles. They said something that I could not make out in some gibberish language. I awoke after that. Not allowing this to get in our way, the thirteenth expedition was sent in. When they did not report for more than a day, a rescue team was sent in. They searched, and eventually found the members of Expedition 13 all in one room, dead with lacerations all around their bodies. The leader was still alive, but traumatised belong measure. The rescue team brought him back, but he didn't say anything, just repeating the same thing over and over again: they see us.

The next day they found him in the Level 2 bathrooms; he had hung himself. He had also apparently non-fatally cut his wrists and written the same thing he had kept repeating the last night on the walls in blood. Strange things started happening after that. People started going missing at night, scientists disappearing from their bunks, guards vanishing from their posts. Each one without a trace. Security was tightened, but the disappearances kept happening. We attempted to send out a distress call, but satellite transceivers wouldn't respond. By the sixth day there were only six of us left out of the original twenty-eight. We took to locking ourselves in whatever area we found safe. I decided to lock myself in my personal quarters.

[Cornell motions to his room, showing his standard quarters]

I've boarded up the windows and pushed my drawer to the door. I've been in here for what, four, five days? I don't know. System clock seems to be broken. [Date and time was working in the received message, except the timelogger.] Tyler [Presumed to be Doctor Tyler Webbs] and I managed to communicate for the first few days, but then he just went silent. I think he's gone. I... I don't know who else is left. [Cornell takes a deep breath] I... I think there's something in here with us. When we removed the device, we freed the... the thing. [At this point, an air vent can be seen slowly opening behind Cornell.] Please, if anyone hears or even gets this, then this is a warning. I know there's something in here. And we released it. We- [The air vent cover drops to the ground, startling Cornell and causing him to turn around.] Huh? What the-

[Something shoots from the opened vent and slams into Cornell, sending him flying into the recorder, likely breaking it and abruptly ending the transmission.]

//TRANSMISSION ENDS HERE\\

Following this disturbing message, the UFE Military has ordered a five-man special operations team to investigate, designate 'Shadow'.

Alright people, I'll get the OOC up later today. The last guy will be an NPC whose only purpose is to die painfully.
@Elle Santiago @MonkeyBusiness @Venku

If none of you are responding, I'll have to reset this RP with different people.
I suppose I'll give this a try.
This is a story I'm writing, but it's currently in development hell. I'm struggling to come up with more ideas for this. Please do not read if you are offended by excessive swearing and violence.

Seriously, don't man, just don't.
