Desktop profile login won't work. Coincidence that Windows 7 is no longer supported on same day? Consider me doubtful.

I'm having way too much fun with my Legend of Zelda Encylopedia. This is the game that got me into roleplaying so have a lot invested in it's lore and stories. Too bad can't have all the games too.

Took me a while to come up with an interesting concept for a character.

Issue #1.09: Of course there's a Bomb / Crisis Event

Soon the area was completely clear of people allowing Kara to walk unimpeded toward the Obelisk. "Well that was easy, but I have a feeling it won't be quite that easy."

As if on cue, a cloud of bots swarmed out of the tower to rush at Supergirl. "Yep, I just knew it." Kara crossed her arms in front of her face and braced for impact, but then the cloud of bots simply changed direction and started to fly away. The new orders had come in to converge on Madison Square and now there was nothing left to defend the Obelisk.

"Ummm well that was anti-climatic, not gonna complain about missing a bug shower though." Kara looked at the Obelisk suspiciously. "Just smashing it up might be a bad idea; I bet there is some booby trap or something. The bad guys love their traps after all according to all the comic books and TV shows I've seen as a kid."

Kara concentrated all her attention on the Obelisk for anything suspicious. The first thing she noticed was a low, hum, not something a normal person would be able to hear, that had started coming from the device. Kara found a panel on the Obelisk and yanked it open with ease but what stared back was a countdown number which could only mean one thing.

"This puppy is going to blow sky high in twenty-eight minutes! There is always going to be a bomb in these situations isn’t there.” Kara noticed another small monitor had the Blue Beetle’s message on it, explaining what just happened.

“That explains the bugs, but then that means all the other towers are unprotected, which means there is no point in keeping them around…so all of them are going to blow up then except Madison Square. Guess this is a job for Supergirl…”

Kara glared at the countdown and tried to think of the best way to disarm the bomb. Cutting off the power supply would be the safest way but she wasn’t exactly sure where that was and she was on a time table. Trying to disarm it manually could make it blow up prematurely and she wasn’t sure how. Well over thinking it was not going to make those timers any slower.

“When in doubt, slam it out! Probably not how the saying is suppose to go but if I’m going to make it in time sometimes the brute force way is the only way!” Supergirl positioned herself over the Obelisk, clasped her hands together over her head to make a battering ram, and rocketed herself straight down on the tower. The speed and force of the blow were designed to be quick enough that if there was something to trigger the explosion it wouldn’t have time to go off.

There was a lot of crunching but thankfully no explosions and as quick as she smashed through, Kara was out again.

“Good, thankfully I can destroy them before they explode, now how many are left.” Kara thought about asking Kelex but she doubted he could pinpoint them for her in time, thankfully there was a certain sound she had just stopped hearing, a sort of humming sound that came from the Obelisk. Trying to remember the exact sound, she started searching throughout the city for it.

So many sounds, the clinking of a dime hitting the sidewalk, a dog barking as it ran away from danger, the various hums from electrical wires, the fluttering of a bird’s wings, so many sounds. Kara’s eyebrows scrunched together in concentration as she tried to match the frequency she had heard from the Obelisk. It was hard to sift through all the excess but the lives of potentially thousands or even tens of thousands depending on her.

This was a power that was still hard to really use effectively, super hearing. A mind naturally blocked out most noises from being noticed while concentrating on her ears forced her mind to acknowledge the existence of all those sounds. The first moments were always deafening and all the things she heard but knew she couldn’t do anything about were quite taxing mentally. Then the range got narrower as she focused on what she wanted to hear and the cacophony of sounds started to settle down.

A good minute passed, than two, Supergirl started to sweat and she unconsciously wiped her forehead. “Come on, it’s just the proverbial needle in a haystack, shouldn’t be that hard, if I had a magnet.” Of course all she had was her own recollection of the sound she had noticed and no other tool to help her. She starting concentrating in different directions to pinpoint the remaining towers like a radar.

“Found it!” Kara shouted as she locked on that particular sound. “Thank goodness, I better hustle though, not sure how much longer I have!” Kara homed in on the sound, careful not to fly through any buildings on the way. Her eyes darted all around to locate the shape that should not be present in a city landscape.

Finally she found it, right by the John F. Kennedy International Airport. “You’d think people would have been suspect when they first saw it, but guess they’re too used terrible modern artwork.” Kara joked before smashing the tower to smithereens while making sure no harm came to the airport.

Just in case, Kara quickly started searching for other towers, another one started to tickle her ear. “Ugh, I knew there would be more of them. Only a few minutes left, got to hurry!” The city was still in an uproar and the bomb timers were ticking down to a finale the city really didn't want, the day wasn’t saved quite yet.
At the moment I think Supergirl's prime objective will be trying to stop all the obelisks from taking out chunks of the city. She could also potentially help Static I suppose, but since he's knocked out cold, unless the remains of the tower fall down on top of him, I think he'll be fine...as he bleeds from his nose, unconscious, on the ground.

Sorry mate but the big explosive Obelisks are a little higher on the priority list right now.

Issue #1.08: Obelisks of Doom / Crisis Event

“Well that just happened, never expected to meet The Wonder Woman while trying to save the world. Course most people never expected they would be trying to save the world in the first place!” Kara thought to herself after she left Wonder Woman behind to deal with the central park issue. It was fine to leave Wonder Woman behind, right? I mean she was The Wonder Woman after all and considering these Black cheap Egyptian knock-offs were spewing mind messing robot bugs all over the place she really couldn’t afford to waste much time.

Everywhere she looked there were people to save, a woman getting trapped by infected citizens trying to rip her to pieces to drop off in a safe place, infected cops firing at whatever moved she quickly had to disarm before someone had a new air hole they didn’t want, and of course decking any of the original terrorists she could find. The problem was no matter how many people she saved the core problem was still there, some madman was using robotic bugs to mind jack thousands of people but she had no idea where to find the shiny villain, plus even if she did know there was no guarantee that taking him out would stop this mess, the only thing that seemed like it could help was taking out those obelisks which were probably acting as transmitter towers for the bugs, though this was just speculation.

“I need to know where these Obelisks things are, but if I just fly about like a madwoman I could miss someone who needs my help. I need a navigator.”

“I can be of assistance Kara of House El.”

“Whoa! Wait! What? Kelex is that you? But you’ll all the way in the tippy-top of Canada!” Supergirl had nearly spun out of the sky in surprise at hearing the now familiar robotic voice. Before it could reply back Kara noticed a man being chased by some of the infected people.

“Just a sec.” She quickly swooped down and carried the man off to a quiet corner, “Sorry for the quick ride but I’m kinda in a hurry here! Better get as far away as you can!” Before the man could really react she was already back in the air.

“So how are you talking to me?”

“During your last visit I had a communication crystal weave installed in your family crest. By bouncing a signal off of this world’s primitive satellites I am able to communicate with you from the research facility.”

“So I have a Kryptonian microphone installed on the chest, well that isn’t creepy at all…” The AI didn’t catch the bit of displeasure in her voice and continued on.

“I can assist you Kara of House El in finding the location of unknown technology currently injecting the city. From the recordings sent by the terrorist, I have deduced that the closest Obelisk to your location is on the grounds of a certain, Long Island Univeristy, just east of your position.”

“I appreciate the assist Kelex but I think we’re going to have to have a little talk about a thing called ‘personal boundaries’. You will definitely tell me how I can switch this thing off later!”

The red and blue clad Supergirl sped off toward Long Island University, thankfully it really was quite close and within a very short time frame she found her target. It was quite the grizzly scene, many students, people around her age were either terribly injured, infected by the bots, or even dead. The lawns were messed up and there was quite a bit of collateral damage from the rampaging people. There were quite a few people here she would have met through college meets and the like, but some lunatic, this Stryfe, had decided to take action which had ended quite a few careers and lives in a few short hours.

Supergirl clenched her fist as she touched down on the ground so she could be on the same level as the guys working with the bad guy who were circling around the Obelisk to protect it.

“So what kind of messed up ideas made you guys think it was a good idea to hurt people with dreams of being something better huh!?” Supergirl walked forward while most of the baddies either looked at her stupidly or just laughed.

“The heck is with this crazy girl? Let’s take her out quick guys!” One of the terrorists with a rifle spoke up and started unloading on Supergirl and everyone else nearby quickly followed. Supergirl merely smiled and walked with flinching which caused the faces of her enemies to change to confusion and horror. Thankfully there didn’t appear to be anything she had to worry about herself at the moment, but before she could take out the Obelisk it would be best to take out of trash mobs around it first so they couldn’t do anymore damage.

“Say you guys all know about Wonder Woman right? Can deflect bullets with her bracelets and all that? Well I can do that do it’s just that my whole body is like that so good luck!”

“What the heck! That’s just cheating!” The guy tried different parts of the body to aim at but no matter where the bullet went it just bounced off, though admittedly Kara made sure none of the bullets hit or eye or entered her mouth, just in case. She might be pretty much invincible but no one should just let a piece of metal hit them in the eye.

“Sorry but like a lot of people say, life just isn’t fair!” Supergirl rushed the man, grabbed his rifle and twisted it up like a pretzel much to his horror. “Well I’ll be taking you all down right now, don’t hold it against me too much alright?” Kara couldn't help but grin a little too much as she casually tossed the ruined weapon aside.

Realizing he was completely outmatched the man instead changed tactics. “Don’t you know who we are? Well I guess we just announced ourselves so you wouldn’t, but we’re the Metahuman Supremacy Front! If you take us down you’re just hurting metas like yourself!”

“Oh such a stunning argument but, I’m kind of an Alien so that really doesn’t apply to me anyway, sorry about that!” With a soft whack, she knocked him out cold and set him on the ground. “Time to stop wasting time and take you crazies out!”

A ton of gunfire erupted across the campus but the sounds were quickly being stifled as Supergirl started laying them all out flat. It wouldn’t be too long before she could focus on the bad piece of light sucking artwork in front of the campus.
@Lord WraithGot the support cast now too.

We'll see if I can continue on with what was started. I think the hardest part will be Lex Luthor rather than anything directly Supergirl related.
What are your ideas for Supergirl and would they be able to work with the existing history of the character in the IC? Ideally, for Supergirl, I'd like someone to step in and resume the character where Inkarnate had left her, I'd be open to allowing the new player to make changes but preferably nothing that would contradict what's in the IC already.

So let me get this straight, you want someone to continue the Supergirl with the current concept? Just to make sure but is Inkarnate ok with that cause I know some people might not like someone taking over their character. In the end it is your role play but just something you might want to consider.

@Pacifista
Don't worry about the Ross family, I'd rather that be someone who splits apart a rouge's gallery by making essentially the same character.
Thinking back before I picked up Batgirl, I had two other character ideas that caught my fancy. One of them was Supergirl and the other was She-Hulk.

I didn't waste too much time on the Supergirl idea since a really good character concept for her was quickly created but I remember I was split on the time between a Supergirl concept and a Power Girl concept. In either case I would try to make the concept different enough from my fond memories so I don't feel too tied down by the character like Batgirl kind of did with me.

As for She-Hulk, at the time I was thinking just a version of the original but after thinking about it I just don't know enough about she-hulk to make a good one, but I know a good deal about Hulk. So in a She-Hulk case I was thinking maybe twisting around the original Hulk story so that it is Betty Ross who gets transformed into the first Hulk rather than Bruce Banner. Just thinking about the complications such a change would have on the entire story would make for a unique experience, especially with how Thunderbolt Ross would react to such a situation, having his own daughter transformed rather than some nasty scientist man who likes his daughter.
Looking back at Batgirl, after some time, I realize that I didn't really have any arcs I wanted to explore. I had half-baked ideas but I didn't have anything really interesting to add to Barbara. Back in my previous Carol Danvers role I did have a story, characters and arcs I wanted to explore so that was a much more successful run.

Anyway, just looking back in to see if there is a character or idea I actually want to explore in Season 2. Too late to think about it any more but I'll be cracking a few eggs and see if I can make a cake with em.
@Double Kudos for pointing out power levels will not be such stringent requirement for battle prowess. In other role plays I've seen that is often quite a limiting factor that should be avoided, which you are trying to do. The anime is often pretty bad at this once it gets into Z territory though the manga shows how technique can triumph over pure power.

I feel Arcs can happen pretty much at any time and even during Sagas at times. I would say it would be a good idea to have some kind of Arc board people can look at. Since Arcs could be made by individual character stories that would be a good way to keep track of who is doing what and know what Saga is currently happening. Also it should be clear who is leading a particular Arc so people don't get confused. Well don't worry about it too much, just try to avoid any training arcs unless there is a story element involved.

Anyway finding some time now so I'm at least interested.
@Lord Wraith Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to pass right now, a lot of other things I really need to do. I wanted to do it but the creative juices just aren't there for me. Other priorities much more important and I'm finding this is just kind of getting in the way at the moment. Best of luck to everyone sticking around!
