Yes. Some religions are more widespread than others (e.g. Christianity), while others are more regional (e.g. Judaism).
Oh, sorry. Ahem:

As the Empire never split in this AH, Christianity never became mainstream. It was tolerated, and existed alongside the worship of the Roman Pantheon and other religions of the Empire. It existed most strongly in the east, mainly around Judea and in Greece.

The Mediterranean, 476 AD

In 476 C.E. Romulus, the last of the Roman emperors, was overthrown by the Germanic leader Odoacer, who became the first Barbarian to rule in Rome. The order that the Roman Empire had brought to The Mediterranean for 1000 years was no more.
- In this alternate history scenario, Rome never fully divided into eastern and western halves.
- The fall of Rome has thrown their former territories into chaos, and the effects are being felt everywhere as anarchy and conflict strike.
- Many new states are forming around the once ordered and prospering Mediterranean Sea, rising from the ashes of the Empire. You are the leaders of these fledgling civilisations.
- Tech pre-industrial. Best will be around early renaissance-era.
- This is not historically accurate, as it is an AU. It would help to research who the leaders of whatever nation you are controlling would likely have been (if it existed in real life), but I won’t be too strict.
- You can choose to be whoever you want! Any requests I will consider, so long as they are on the map I will display below.
- Casual standards.
This RP will revolve around the conflicts and diplomacy between the civilisations around the Mediterranean. You can be any civilisation that seems realistic, please run them by me if in doubt. RPers can settle, trade, go to war, or merge with each others to form larger empires. There may even be NPC nations to interact with. Any other questions, requests and ideas you may have are welcome in this thread, and the OCC if there’s enough interest.

This is my first proper NRP, so if any of you veterans out there have any suggestions, they are more than welcome!

Wow, so much interest :D

As there's already so many of you, I'll try to get the OOC thread up today. Please bear in mind I live in the UK, so our ideas of 'today' may differ somewhat, doncherknow

Concerning the disputes over historical accuracies, so long as there's a reasonable possibility that whoever you want to be may have, at some point, moved to the Mediterranean area or southern Europe, I am willing to allow it. Try to be realistic though.
Sorry that I missed you all! I was on holiday, and I had given up hope that anyone would want to do this. I may set it up again in future, unless one of you want to take it on.

I have now started another Interest Thread for a similar kind of thing in an AU fall of Rome. If you're interested, I'd be happy to accept you :D

I've enjoyed this greatly. Thanks for having me :D I hope we can all RP together again sometime. This came quite helpfully for me, actually, because I'm going on holiday to Somerset next week.

Bye :D
I'll post soon (I need to check the IC though), but I'm busy today so it might seem a while.

The thing isYou refused to help meYou betrayed meI was planning on invading you, with the help of Corustia, and then dividing Lydiah up between us while leaving you the 7 rivers but turning that into a vassal state.

Well, I didn't exactly refuse, I just abstained from helping either side. I didn't want to get Lydiah involved in a large land-based conflict when most of its military power is in its navy.

Perhaps I should make fwends with more people, so I can beg them for help...
