Nobody with even half a brain would trust this monstrous newcomer. Whatever sniffing he was wanting to do, she could tell that it would be bad news. She shook her head violently to decline his offer. Otherwise she remained relatively motionless, not sure what she should do in this circumstance. He hadn’t technically done anything that would cause her to resort to violence. Unfortunately for her, his plan was working, so she didn’t make any motions to flee either. Like a frog bathing in boiling water, the subtle changes over time slipped past her notice, causing her deadly inaction. Her expression clearly showed disgust, hesitation, and doubt, but what should be evident to Abe, no worry or focus on his movements on her face or body.
She decided that she should be sassy to try to make him give up and leave. She needed a comeback. She took on a more cocky look now.
“How about you…smell my feet then!” She shouted. “Like…when I kick you!”
Best answer is that she sleeps sitting up. I'd say curled up to keep warm, but she's already a nudist who doesn't care about temperature.
Sleeping positions for her personality would be more sprawled out, blankets thrown everywhere, possibly upside down. That is if sleeping positions based on personality can be considered fact. Most people probably just choose something that feels comfortable at the time and goes with it. As such she'd mostly be seen on her stomach, as referenced in "the vital guide of characters and the useless facts pertaining to them that could be handy to know, maybe".
She likely has slept sitting up before. Just like, randomly. And they think she's awake and waste a whole chapter talking to her with important plot points. Then she just falls over onto her side at the end.
If she got knocked on her back, her tail would just be an advantage in getting up, or it would naturally turn her to one side or the other. If she's getting hit into the ground hard enough that her tail would be damaged, she has bigger problems, probably her broken ribs.
I wasn't thinking her tail damaged, but the floor getting an indent for the tail to rest in! That's a staple of high powered fights. The fighter is okay but the environment around them is destroyed to fit their shape.
You know what? What you said is so simple I should have thought of it earlier. Being relatively round-ish, the tail should indeed tilt her hips off to one side rather than pushing the hips straight up unless they hit dead center and remained perfectly balanced, which is unlikely. She'd also still technically be on her back, just a tad twisted up that doesn't look silly at all. Uncomfortable to be sure, but getting knocked down to begin with is the bigger worry. Crisis averted everyone! I was going to have to try to draw her lying down to make sense how the tail would interfere. This drawing would be in my book, "the vital guide of characters and the useless facts pertaining to them that could be handy to know, maybe".
You know what's troubling me about Evvie? How she could lay on her back properly? Her tail is more thick and muscular than, say, a cats which could just squeeze a bit to provide room. By common sense her hips would be thrust awkwardly in the air. You could make the argument that her wings would level her out, but they aren't as thick so would have to push outwards at all times. This realization is more bothersome then it should be, let me tell you.
The only hand wave I can think of is have her wings lock in place to push herself up to match the tail without needing constant force being applied. She could just rest on her side or stomach, of course, but in a battle she'd still get knocked into her back on occasion. and if she's unconscious she'd be stuck that way. If she were to take a powerful hit onto grass then it would just bury in and resolve the issue, so this will likely rarely come up and I'm thinking too much into this.
Feel free to tell me if she's overpowered or I forgot something. I kind of rushed things at the end, being tired and all.
Name: Lu’sula Lan Velfor Nickname: Lula Age: 140 (Mid twenties in human years) Gender: Female Race:
Lu’sula is a member of an alien race called the Xea, which was dominant in their universe and various dimensions linked to it for many eons. They have the power to rip holes through the fabric of space-time and many other advanced technologies indistinguishable from magic that allowed them to accomplish said feat. However, the Conquered War, an uprising lead by various races previously under Xea control, lead to the universe’s destruction with the activation of a superweapon. This action broke the proverbial camel’s back, as the space-time of their universe was already filled with holes to begin with, causing the universe’s reality to collapse. Some pockets of space-time managed to survive, however, including the capital of the Xea which was sheltered in it’s own dimension to begin with.
The pocket dimensions split from the capital became known as the lost dimensions, some of which contain valuable artifacts and other things that they wish to reclaim, although reopening the pathways to them has been strenuous at best. Xea survivors within the lost dimensions suffered various fates largely dependent on circumstance. Some managed to regain past glory while others were overcome by the hardships, which included battling surviving enemies of the Conquered War now getting the upper hand against the fractured Xea. Originally numbering in the trillions, 90% of all Xea died in the initial event and 60% of said survivors in the aftermath. However, their population is recovering, especially in the capital dimension and other flourishing pocket dimensions. At least one pocket dimension was thrown outside of their original universe and into another one.
Most members of her race have glowing flecks on their skin. This energy flowing through them is called essentia in English, or ehdda in their own language. Those who hone the ehdda within them have these flecks slowly develop into designs like tattoos that cover their entire body if complete mastery is achieved. Silver colored ehdda is gained through enlightenment. Gold is gained from absorbing it from ethereal monsters that can travel through space-time called Ehddana (“born from the Ehdda”) that the Xea have hunted and battled with since the beginning of their existence. Red is gained through absorbing ehdda from other Xea, a controversial practice to be sure. To acquire ehdda is such a manner often involves a ritual. Few can be powerful enough to rip it from someone without one. Only these two beings are known to house Ehdanna within them.
The most powerful of Xea can be seen like Gods. The weakest among them, called unlit, don’t have any ehdda within them. Ehdda comes from a cosmic force that can literally be called God, which mixes with the parent’s own life force upon Xea conception. Some believe Ehdda energy to be infinite although this is not the case. It does not always mix upon conception, resulting in the baby being unlit. It’s also possible to loose the energy for unknown reasons at any point during pregnancy, often claimed as a result of the mother doing something sacrilegious. Unlit children are often ostracized. Depending on culture, in the more backwoods area of Xea culture, even the entire family could be punished. Some unlit children are sacrificed or banished to other dimensions. Whatever the case, many view them as being unfavorable to the cosmic entity Uo, which supplies the ehdda.
The power of ehdda enhances their physical abilities. Other common abilities involve them able to forever alter their physical appearance to suit their desire and create an aura that spreads out from their body, able to strike others with great force if concentrated enough. They can also take over someone else’s spirit and body. Some can fine tune the powers of nature, controlling the elements, for example, or bending physics to their will. The pureblooded Xea in the capital dimensions hold most of the wealth of ehdda power. More and more of them are being born unlit, however, a troubling phenomenon causing mass panic and exodus. The higher powers wish to regain lost glory so are cracking down with an iron fist.
Xea are human-like with some differences. Besides the previously mentioned flecks of color on their skin (silver, gold, or red), they also have three bronze colored horns on each side of their head hugging it closely, appearing almost like a crown that doesn’t connect across their forehead. Their skin color is pale white, almost translucent, though not quite. Their eyes are solid black and misty looking. They have no nails on their fingers or toes. Their hair glows the color of the flakes on their skin, with white hair being for unlit. Elderly Xea do grow fainter over time in this regard, thus being closer to unlit in appearance, although never completely until death claims them. Xea have no body hair.
Xea can change their appearance over time through their force of will, although most are still recognizable as Xea, especially due to their flecks never going away as long as they retain their power, which they would indeed have to if they transformed in the first place.
Appearance: Lu’sula is 5’8” tall. She has golden colored flecks on her skin; many on her shoulders, upper back, and back of her calves winding around to the top of her feet. Some can also be found on her cheeks and nose. Smaller amounts exist elsewhere. She has long flowing hair down to her lower back with is glowing golden as well. She has sharp, serious looking features. She has an athletic, slender build. For other appearance, see “Race Appearance”.
Personality: She’s horrible at understanding sarcasm and jokes, rarely using them herself. Many would describe her as a wet blanket. She doesn’t trust easily so is quick to take defensive action. It’s clear she’s been through some past trauma.
Abilities
Physical Abilities- She fights with strength and agility that few normal humans can match. Her reaction times are enhanced. Her senses are healthy but not noticeably enhanced. Fighting for prolonged periods of time and pushing her limits exhausts her, so long distances runners could eventually overtake her.
Training- She has advanced training with her weapon as well as hand to hand that looks similar to kung fu that’s traditional to her people. She’s not a prodigy, achieving her level of skill through practice and determination.
Other abilities- She cannot use any advanced powers of her people yet.
Equipment
Outfit: Form fitting light armor that looks similar to the images on the right but without the helmet and in dull purple colors (Not my picture). It cannot protect well against blunt force or high powered weaponry. She prefers the ease of movement it provides her.
Weapons: She wields a futuristic looking bow and arrow that can fire 20 thin golden arrows (without feathers) found at her side in a quiver. The string is actually blue energy that comes out in string form that latches onto the back of the arrow before pulling it forward at speeds as fast as a bullet once released, only of course are much larger than bullets so pack more of a punch. As that happens the energy string disappears and exhausts flows out a vent on the body of the bow near the tips. She can fire one shot every three seconds.
The body of the bow can snap together to form a broadsword, the handle rotating and lengthening to accommodate it’s new form. The blade length is three feet. It’s more sturdy than human made steel but can still break if enough force is applied.
Bio
Work in progress. Sister is an unlit so that spurred her into action due to events as a result.
Don't worry. I did my profile while I'm waiting for my 3DS with Pokemon Moon to charge up.
It was sold out at the store I checked, but I honestly didn't go around hunting for it. I'm thinking of getting pokemon sun instead! The lion, wolf, and ninetails look better to me. I do like the goofy dragon of moon better than the ugly turtle in sun.
