Patrycja was smiling from ear to ear, laughing heartily and occasionally interjecting words of polish to the girl on the other side of her smartphone. She was laying on her stomach on her bed, legs bending up and down playfully behind her. She had short dirty blonde hair, an average face, and an almost lanky build covered in bright orange pajamas with white clouds on them.
Bzzzt. Her phone buzzed again, signifying that a new email was trying to get her attention. She’d never seen one so persistent. Her curiosity was starting to get the better of her. That and even her nerves couldn’t block it out forever.
“Well, guess I’d better go. Call you back tomorrow morning,” she said, still in polish, before hanging up. She clicked on the email just to stop the notification before even reading the content. It was in English, but she could still read it, albeit going over the words more slowly now that it had her attention. Magical girl? She did download a couple magical girl apps recently, so whoever sent this email likely got the head’s up that she was interested in those types of things. She wasn’t ashamed to admit it. Magical girls were awesome.
“Must be another app? Couldn’t hurt to check it out, I guess,” she said, not entirely thinking things through. To her this email seemed relatively harmless, albeit cheesy marketing. She was okay with a little bit a cheese.
She tapped the word yes, which she was able to recognize far more quickly. Suddenly she was filled with the most bizarre, albeit pleasant sensation erupt within her entire body all at once. Although it would have been soothing had she prepared for it, due to it’s unexpected nature it was enough to cause her to panic, flailing her limbs about before crashing out of bed just as an eruption of light burst through the room. She was still slightly dazed from the experience, but when she came too it soon dawned on her. She was now in what looked similar to traditional polish garb, albeit with some small alterations. The cloth didn’t feel entirely natural. It felt like it was brimming with power.
“Ah…I hit my head worse then I thought,” she stammered. “…now my phone’s talking to me in english. That’s nice…”
She moaned, sliding up into a sitting position against her bed while rubbing her temples.
“Focus, Patrycja. Let’s clear your head.”
However, she soon realized that her mind and body seemed to be in perfect condition. No, better than she ever felt before. How could this be? She reached for her phone, finding that she had grabbed a different one that she didn’t own. On it was a new magical girl game, complete with a chibi version of her. The name “Laughing Petal” appeared over her head.
Without thinking she signed the contract. She now realized that she was on the chat with other real live members.
“Let’s see…um,” she said to herself before typing in english, “can someone kindly explain what in the bloody hell is going on?” albeit with typos and poor grammar.
She didn’t know quite what to do right now. Should she close the app? Or was it too late? She wanted to at least find out more about what this was from the other girls. She understood most of the objective given to her, which appeared to suggest she go out and solve problems in real life. She had nothing against that. In fact it would be right up her ally. But this was all far too much to take in at the moment. There must be some language barrier at fault for this misunderstanding. But how did she get new clothes and this new phone?
