Ricky Hatton's (pro boxer) punch speed - ~25mph
Diameter of a H2O molecule (most common molecule in human skin) - ~0.29nm (0.000000029mm)
25mph = 11176000000nm per second
Deceleration = (0 - 11176000000nm per second)/0.00000000025948461 seconds = -4306999200000000000000000000nm per second per second.
-4306999200000000000000000000nm per second per second = -430699917039m per second per second, or -430699917.039km per second per second.
(If you don't want to read that brick of a number, that's over 430 million kilometres.)
-430699917039m*0.7 (average mass of a human fist) = 301489941927N
(Or three-hundred thousand million Newtons of force.)

So how much is ~300,000,000,000 Newtons of force? Well...
  • About 3300 Newtons will break a rib.
  • About 250,000 Newtons will instantly stop a car moving at 60mph (depending on the car).
  • About 750,000 Newtons are necessary for a rocket to lift off.
  • A 50-kiloton nuke delivers about 450 million newtons of force.
  • And since I'm running out of ideas, it would take about a 34 megaton nuke directly hitting this person's fist to re-create the damage that one punch would cause to them.

Well now I know who to come to with crazy character powers.

In my multiverse a character hits a cannon shot back to the spaceship firing it as if a baseball, and said cannonball tears completely through it with enough power to destroy the small city that was its intended target. So...I'm guessing deflecting low kiloton level power back to sender would be even more drastic than that ability, but not sure. Whatever the case I know logically the shockwave would destroy everything anyways but I still want to keep the scene in for coolness factor. I don't think I'm taking shockwaves into account for much of any battle as they can fight without destroying surroundings unless that's their intent.
With that ability, though, concepts such as pressure are irrelevant. Therefore, something affecting a wider area, such as a slap, or better still, a body slam, would be more effective. Additionally, the fighter would want to avoid the other problem, of his fist shattering. Therefore, they would want to actually attack more slowly.

In short, you've created someone who fights most effectively by doing the exact opposite of what most people do to achieve te same thing.

I did come up with how he could attack more slowly, but that would only work on sneak or underhanded attacks or they would simply avoid him. I wonder if a scientist could figure out how slow you'd have to be to not injure yourself on a 1 atom distance stop.

To make the ability slightly less pathetic you could say that if the enemies atoms absorb all the damage then it would also absorb the force hurting the guy with said ability. You would also have to say he can only destroy the single cells that are touched. I forgot how many cells the skin is thick, but it would still likely take hundreds of attacks to break through, more so than the...what...septillions that the atom ability would require?

Got me thinking for the atom smashing, though, it it would set off any type of nuclear explosion depending on how he destroys their atoms. If the area of skin would provide enough material. Also if the person would feel themselves loosing a single layer of atoms and if that could be major trouble even if it doesn't cause a nuclear reaction.

So here's an ability that sounds epic at first until its weakness is revealed. Someone can deliver punches that obliterates all of someone's atoms that come into contact with it no matter how powerful. The downside is that it only obliterates those specific atoms and it stops his momentum entirely as all the force goes into them.

In short, one punch would obliterated a single layer of atoms the size of his fist and his fist would shatter from the change of momentum stopping at a single atoms distance. XD
If I'm not distracted I can start things off tonight after work. That being said, Divinity Original Sin 2 is out and it's an epic rpg where you can create your own campaigns like dungeons and dragons. Never played that game but tey said it's similar in concept, just in video game form.
<Snipped quote by Lalliman>

A man with his powers could.

But Big Martin never would.

He doesn't want to use it on sentient beings? Bad guy with morals or too much pride?
Can Big Martin control cat girls?

I do have a couple Catgirl characters who should be worried right about now.
A high-powered version of Evvie would probably work, buy I imagine you wanna save her for the finale.

As an aside, if one of our chars dies, could we bring in a new one at the next wave? I think this would give us more leeway in reacting appropriately rather than keeping our chars alive at all costs because we don't want to be removed from the RP.

Evvie might not be the grand finale but she'd likely be in the ending 20%. If she knew you guys were coming she would fly out to be the first to greet you, but this is a surprise attack.

Speaking of high power, my characters will likely have to break the power level guidelines to some extent to put up a formidable fight when fighting solo as a boss. Evvie might have her clones helping out as well before Evvie rushes in. That will be a tough battle for you guys. I don't know if I want to make Catgirl Evvie show up earlier as an actual character or not. Clones can of course be their own characters so it could count if I wanted.

I like the idea of bringing more characters in as needed.

Edit: Catgirl Evvie would likely be cat woman-esque in power so would have to be early on or of course a lackey that doesn't count to 100. Another wave she could take part in is the adorable themed group. Could also call it beauty and the beast waves.
Yeah, a bum rush of characters still at full power no less. I imagine a good character for this would be a Goliath type guy in armor with surprising versatility. He'd be OP in a normal fight but under the circumstances he's beatable for sure.
Perhaps the first fight could be against one boss character who's like the gatekeeper to the base the heroes will be using. That won't take as long planning then the 10 or so limited power heroes who would have been the first encounter. I don't have a huge amount of low powered already planned out so that wave will be the longest to prepare. Now I just need to come up with a good opening boss and we'll be all set.
I'm really inspired to create a new setting for some of my characters. So in destiny 2 there was some comment like "this is why you guardians don't go out of the tower much" in response to antics from said guardian. So my fantasy setting will be powerful people with poor social skills who don't get out much from their base due to superstition but some do and they tend to mess things up when they do. One of them takes over the world.
