She wanted him to do this. She had wanted him to choose to do it himself. Part of her had expected him to put up a fight, though, and she was thrilled to be right. He was one of the bigger challenges in the hospital. It would have been a little disappointing for him to make it so easy now.

If he wasn't going to do it himself, she would have to find a way to convince him. Or make him. The thought of making a man like this do anything got her fingers curling.

"Should you change your mind, just come by my office. I could even give you a look at the facilities you'd use if you do. The medical offices are right across the hall from me. Just the usual place where physicals are conducted. I promise, just a weekly test of your heart and blood pressure, and then you'll be back into the usual life." She looked him up and down. He was going to be perfect once she got her hands on him.

"Is there anything else you might be needing? I hope you're feeling alright. You look a little pale."
"No." Hazel barked back. "Courtney is dead." She glared upward into the trapdoor.

"We'll push some dressers out here into the hallway and get Haley and Amos up there. I'll put the dresser back so the Tartok can't use it to get up. In the meantime, figure out a way to get me up there. Haley, come on. Leave Amos." Hazel set him down and opened the door into the bedroom nearest to them.

"We've got to move fast. Hopefully the Tartok takes its time with its meals." She felt her stomach churn again, but forced down the bile. She grabbed the dresser inside and started dragging it into the hallway. "Take the other side. Once it's positioned, we'll get Amos up and then you."
She looked up at him, her grey eyes taking on the small smile of her lips. He was ready to put up a fight. She liked that.

"You've been keeping yourself very fit in here. If you would be willing to come to the medical offices once a week for monitoring, I can be sure to give you use of a few other materials to work out with. We want to be sure the health of our patients is our utmost priority, and I just need to be sure you aren't putting undue stress on your system. If it interests you, that would include a stress test on a treadmill. I don't imagine you've been able to fit cardio in lately."

Her smile widened into one of her most alluring. She didn't need him to do this. But she did want him to do this. And she would get him to, eventually. It would be so much easier if she could get him to do it of his own accord to start out with.
Dr. Shannon Elisia Brennan

Dr. Brennan was sitting in her office, finishing up the day's paperwork. She put her signature on the last prescription order for sleeping pills for Sasha Belov. She smirked a little. They were really only sugar pills, the particular type she had written for. She filled the inventory of those pills herself. She just enjoyed seeing him struggle with the guards when he was supposed to be taking them. It was just about the only thing that got a rise out of the giant, and she was interested in seeing just how far she could push him. She had made a habit of removing the prescriptions for a few weeks at a time after each incident, but she had been putting him back on the rotation a day sooner each time. Pretty soon she would make a jump in the frequency. Only one week between each prescription. She would figure out more about him then, she was sure of it. She had wanted him as a test subject for a very long time now, but his steady demeanor took him out of the running. To be perfectly honest, she admired that about him in a way.

She grabbed the latest stack of prescription updates for the patients and made her way out, locking her office securely behind her.

"Good afternoon," She nodded to guards, nurses, and orderlies as she passed them in the halls, speaking in her lilting Irish accent.

She made her way to the infirmary and pulled one of the nurses aside, holding out the three stacks of papers held together by binder clips to him. "Evan, could you please make sure all of these updates make them into the prescription binders? One copy here, one in the pharmacy by the cafeteria and one in the main pharmacy on the first floor, please. I've got the copies I need in my office."

"Absolutely, Dr. Brennan." He took the stack of papers, set one on the main desk, and left for the pharmacies. She turned and saw the nurse lying on a bed with her arm slung over her eyes. She raised an eyebrow, but moved on to leave the infirmary. She wanted to stretch her legs before the meeting, and she took a leisurely stroll through the hallways. She peered into the rooms she passed, seeing nothing too interesting. Some were reading, some were sleeping, some were just staring, but most were empty. She found her way into the hallway of Sasha's room and looked in. He was working out. She was intrigued by the ones who did so.

Working out and exercising caused pain in the body, but eventually made the body stronger. It was part of the basis of the theories that fueled her work. Dr. Brennan watched him for a few moments, lost in thought as she pondered just what she could make this man capable of. She decided she would insist on a physical exam the next time he fought with the guards over his pills.

She knocked on Sasha's door. "Excuse me."

Hazel stared down at the blood splattered across the bottom of the stairs. Her stomach churned, and she regretted the cheesecake she made earlier. She turned to the side and emptied the contents of her stomach quietly for a moment.

"Come on. Grab Amos. We don't know how quickly it eats." Her voice was toneless and monotone as the shock settled ever deeper into her.

Hazel grabbed the bag Courtney had dropped, hung it off of her elbow again, hung the rifle along her back, and picked Amos up just the way she had held him earlier.

"Let's just get upstairs."

Hazel waited until Haley was situated and started moving toward the attic again.

"Hey!" She called up. "Hey! Actually fucking answer me this time!" She was angry, but her voice was hoarse, so she was trying not to get too loud. "Mark! Help us get Amos up there! He's knocked out and the stairs are screwed up. I swear if you keeping ignoring me I will take this eagle and get myself out of here."
Hazel whirled around and spit out a curse.

"Come on! Help us!" Hazel called up to the attic.

She ran back toward the door and slammed it open. Her breath was coming in ragged and hard. She was not a runner, and she had been hyperventilating only moments ago. Hazel couldn't breathe properly, and her chest was burning. A stitch was beginning to gnaw at her side.

She wanted to tell the girls to run, to get into the hallway and to the attic. She wanted to tell them that she would handle Amos' body. She couldn't catch her breath enough to speak, though, and all she could manage was a gasp as she pointed into the dark hallway with her left hand.

She hoped everyone else was coming down the stairs to help. Divide and conquer, that was the saying. If the Tartok managed to separate them and pick them off that way, they wouldn't last until morning.

There was no way to communicate that, though. She hoped her gesture would get through to them as she stood there, gasping for breath with the eagle and gun held in front of her.

Once she got to the attic, she was going to make everyone else take care of this crap.
@arockysmith Feel free to post! Since it's a small get together and not much has happened yet, you can definitely make a post and not cut off someone's ability to respond at this point.

"I'll have whatever you're having." Cedar said. It looked way better than the rubbing-alcohol-esque wine from last night. She pushed the thoughts of her suicide attempt out of her mind and tried to focus on what was going on now. This room was amazing. Nina handed Cedar the lemon drop she had just made and began making another one for herself.

“I do have to decline, as I am underaged. I am only 19 years old, and to be perfectly honest, alcohol doesn’t suite my tastes.”

"Now, Chronus, don't worry about that," she said in response. "It never stopped me before."

Chronus? His name was Chronus? Cedar felt an immediate, if minor, kinship. Odd names ran in her family. Her parents were hippies and she was named after a tree, after all. Her brothers began to settle into her mind, and she tried to focus elsewhere. She couldn't let the hurt settle in. It was still fresh from last night.

"Please, feel free to speak to each other. We are going to be spending the evening together, after all. I'm pleased to introduce Mr. Ryker Johnson, Mr. Chronus Klefkin, Miss Cedar Collins, Miss Sara Mackenzie, and Mr. James Miller III. " She indicated to each person with a carefully manicured hand.

Cedar nodded to each person, smiling at Ryker, the only person she had already gone through introductions with. James, the second man she had seen, looked to be tired and sad. Her smile transferred from Ryker to him, and then on to Chronus, and finally settling onto Sara.

Sara looked so skinny and so young. Cedar felt a pang in her stomach. Her brothers had been so thin the last time she had seen them, as tiny eight year olds. The pictures she had gotten didn't make it look like they were getting any larger, only taller, as they progressed through their teenage years. Cedar couldn't help equating this girl to her beloved brothers, and the grief was building deep inside her.

Cedar shook her head and looked back at James involuntarily. There was no way he reminded her of River and Rainey- he was older and taller than her, both elements of a person that helped her not see the playful smiles of the little boys she adored in everything they did.

Unfortunately, all three of the others- Ryker, Chronus, and Sara- all began taking on elements of them in her mind, and she wouldn't be able to handle this interview if she couldn't stop herself from crying.

Cedar turned and made her way to the table of food and grabbed a delicate black and white china plate from a stack of matching ones on the end of it. This was definitely a decadent spread. A lot of these items Cedar had never seen before. Chocolate covered rose petals? She wasn't sure she was brave enough to try them, even though they looked beautiful. She pulled out her camera and snapped a picture discretely. She put petit fours, macaroons, and strawberries on her plate. As she began walking away, she remembered something her mother said when she was younger.

"The head learns new things, but the heart forever practices old experiences." It was a quote from someone, but Cedar never knew who. This was one of the only things that ever got her out of her own head. She would never move on if she never took new experiences to live with, instead constantly living with only the memories of her missing family.

But do you really want to move on? Cedar pushed the thought out of her head. This was not the time. She grabbed a single chocolate covered rose petal, and ate it.

The petal tasted like roses smelled, with a wonderful and delicate earthy taste, followed a bittersweet burst of the chocolate ganache. Cedar was impressed. She snapped another picture of the petals, and followed that up by snapping pictures of the spread on the table, her mind removing everyone else in the room. A few shots later, Cedar put her camera back into the bag at her side and she focused her attention back on her plate of food and the cocktail Nina had given her.

She hadn't been able to eat anything this fancy... ever. It was a treat.
(Ignore, issue with this post)
