Everything you write should be like someone reading your things. It should be terrifying and incredibly embarrassing.

Taylor walked with Joey back to his car, the rank smell still assaulting her nose, although they'd gone out of its range. It wasn't a smell she'd soon forget. She wondered if Oli would want to come back later in their four-legged forms and check out the scene later. Curiosity was very much a thing for Taylor, but she also liked to stay safe. Oli and her cousin both were the ones to drag her along places when she knew better than to go, but like a disease, the excitement would catch her in the moment and she'd be off getting into trouble with her two partners in crime. Well, fur-partners-in-crime. P.I.C. was reserved for Finley, of course.

As Joey turned to run back to Oli's car, she nodded and smiled softly at him as he went. She herded Sadie towards Joey's car, the poor dog searching the parking lot for Taylor's jeep, obviously having forgotten they came in his car. Taylor shook her head and opened up the passenger side door, letting Sadie jump in the back of the car before sliding into her seat, herself. She looked out at the lake, watching it glisten in the sunlight. Maybe they could come back another day and go swimming. It'd been some time since Taylor had gone swimming at the lake, let alone in a swimming pool. Well, since High School, anyway. The swim team didn't count, though. She wanted to go swimming for fun, hang out with friends and have a good day. It'd been such a long time, it was almost like a memory. This was the first time in a while Taylor had even gotten to go out with her friends, and suddenly Taylor found herself grateful for the day. Thankful that she had the day off when everyone decided to be Mystery Inc. again.

In Taylor's lost thoughts, she barely heard her name being spoken and looked over towards Oli and Joey. Oli was smiling Taylor's way, and she could only imagine what Oli was saying about her. Taylor gave a half-hearted smile, figuring it was most likely just Olivia teasing Joey and her about..whatever they were. Taylor turned back to the back seat where Sadie impatiently paced back and forth in the back seat, wanting a window down. She shook her head and cracked her door open so some fresh air would creep into the car. Sadie immediately calmed down and sat with her nose pushed through, right up against the cracked open door. Taylor reached back and gently scratched Sadie's head and ears, settling back down in her seat comfortably looking out the window towards Oli and Joey.

Everything was blurred. His vision, his memory. What happened?.. Wherever he was, it was bright as fuck. Almost blinding. Declan blinked hard and slowly attempted to push himself up from the gravel floor, taking in heavy breaths as he looked around him and saw he was outside. Outside of the mine's entrance. But how? Hadn't he just been inside? Going after.. GWEN! Declan shot up like a bullet and started to run back inside till he ran straight into Finley and fell over right on his ass with a hard grunt, now facing both the girls. His face turned bright red as he realized what had happened, now. He felt terrible, but he was glad Gwen and Finley both were equally okay. Well, Gwen a little worse for wear, but she was alive and kickin'.

Declan lowered his head, almost in a submissive "I'm sorry" kind of way. Had he been in his other form, his tail would have been tucked tightly between his legs and he'd be trying to lick an apology out of the girls. All he could manage in this form was an apologetic half-smile. He looked from Finley to Gwen, checking them both over to be absolutely sure they were okay. Declan went to dust off his hands on his pants and noticed the harsh burns on them, quickly clenching his fists in attempts to hide them, knowing well that they'd already seen them, but in a sense, it was kind of embarrassing. At least to him, it was. He met both of their eyes, then. A scared dog with his tail tucked and vulnerable eyes watching his two friends, wondering if they knew. The silence between him and them probably wouldn't help his case, but he didn't know what to say at this point. He didn't want to lie, but he didn't want to tell the truth. Declan swallowed hard, sitting there before the two girls with his arms extended back behind him to support him as he leaned back, the palms of his hands pushed firmly into the ground.

Deeper Than the Surface

My scars
aren't located on my wrists
Or my thighs
but in my mind.
You could take one look at me
and think I'm okay
maybe even that I've never seen
a moment's hardship in my life.
Look deeper into my eyes
the eyes that have cried
been closed tightly shit
the saddest eyes you'd have seen.
My mind I torn with regrets
overthinking what could
and shouldn't have been..
the things I wish I could be.
Scars to much deeper
than just the surface..
if you were to focus on my skin
you'd think I was lying to you.
I may not have dark lines
all across parts of my body..
but the scars remain
as hidden as yours are, now.
You can see my heartaches
in my mannerisms
the way I fabricate problems
from the thin air between us..
Or the way I sit quietly
curled in on myself
a book in my hand
trying to escape.
To escape what its like
to be someone as torn as I
someone who wants to be so deeply loved
but can't be bothered to love herself, first.

"Nah I'm good not that interested in doing the whole threesome thing, you guys go do your boyfriend girlfriend thing." Taylor overheard Olivia, coming out of her mood from playing with Sadie. She didn't smile this time. It got old real quick when Joey was around while Olivia poked fun at her crush on him. Potentially it was vice versa, so Olivia once told her, but Taylor didn't put anything to it. Nothing ever really went her way, and she wasn't about to hold out on a possible crush. Taylor took a glance out over the lake as she chewed on her lower lip, thinking about what she might go do after they all took off.

"You make a great point, Liv. I think a lil' alone time with Taylor would solve a lot of my lives problems right now. You sure you don't wanna join?"

"I might spend some time out here by the lake a bit longer the water great and all." Taylor watched as Olivia wandered over towards the girl that had come down with Grumpy ol' Abe, narrowing her eyes at her friend, thinking 'The hell are you talking to her, for?!' Taylor wandered back over to Joey, standing beside him and nudged his shoulder with hers playfully. "So, what now, scaredy cat? Ready to go home?" she smirked at him, turning towards the direction Sadie had run off in, whistling for her dog to come back.

Declan wanted so badly to get out of there. He knew if he didn't soon, things would start to go real bad real quick. But where was Gwen? Was she actually in here, or..

"I'm gonna kill Jenna for bringing us here on a wild goose chase. Gonna murder the hell out of her. Ok, maybe not murder, but definitely consider what I could and couldn't get away with. The cops can't do shit anyway. Hell, they haven't caught the mayor's killer yet and they have a fricken' video of it."

Declan smirked, stumbling slightly as he attempted to walk towards the exit of the mine. "Well, she'll get 'murdered the hell out of' twice in one day." Suddenly he stopped in his tracks as he remembered something, cursing aloud. "Son of a bitch." Declan turns himself around and begins limping back to the spot he'd fallen at. "Dropped my goddamn phone, back there." Not that the phone was really that important, but he neither had the money for a new one, nor did he want to try and explain to his mom why and how he'd lost it. That was just a whole new bag of shit he just wasn't wanting to go through, and would rather avoid.

"FUCK THAT HURTS!"

Declan stopped, nearly falling to his knees in the process. He looked around in the dimly lit tunnel, trying to guestimate how far away Gwen was from them. 'Screw it,' he thought. If he could save his friend, he could care less about his own life. She sounded pretty hurt, aside from her obvious claim of her being in pain. The tone of it all said it clear as day. He didn't hesitate in dropping Finley's supportive arm and began hobbling further into the mine, stumbling along the way, yelling out, "Gwen! We hear you!! We're coming for you!" Everything was out the door, now. He knew he was gonna have to suffer some major consequences once they left the mine.
