Christopher Fox & Red Winston
Chris shivered at what Adam said. There is a number 10 in the school's power rankings? His power was considered an 8 and it was already enough to create havoc. What could a 10 do? At least it was reassuring that Adam knew about it, because, if he knew, then all of the Academy staff knew, too. That means that the person in question is at least watched and under control. Chris couldn't even imagine beating a 10 by repelling a screw to him. He actually didn't even think that he could beat a 10 with his full power. Adam had a point that rankings estimated the values of the meta-human ability only, but, on the other side, 10 is the only power class that is branded "powerful", reserved for God-knows what kind of abilities. What Chris wondered was why did Adam keep the identity of the 10 a secret? Maybe he didn't want stupid, arrogant morons to challenge the said 10 all the time. After all, there were people like the girl that challenged Adam before that wouldn't cut this mystery person some slack. Or maybe there was another reason. If Adam thought that he shouldn't tell, then it was probably for the best.
Chris didn't have any more questions for Adam. He should go change to his outfit. He headed to the locker room. His outfit was brand new, but with the same modificiations it had twelve years ago. Chris' outfit had a moderate temperature stabilizer so that minor changes in temperature wouldn't affect his powers. Every magnet would affected by temperature, even a human one. Of course, this wouldn't prove useful against people who could cause rapid changes in temperature, like ice or fire manipulators, but it was still good enough against weather conditions. There was a protective plate in place of it's one sleeve, probably so that his body wouldn't be exposed because of his missing arm. Suited up, he was about to leave, when he heard some mumbo jumbo from one of the toilets, which was followed by a "Bump" sound. He headed to the toilets, where he saw someone lying there from under the door. He couldn't open the door since it was locked, so he used his powers to unlock it. Magnetizing the metal parts of a lock was a minor feat, so he could still do it. He opened the door, where he found a kid lying on the floor, sweating and gasping.
"Hey kid? Are you okay? What the hell am I saying, obviously you are not!" he said and used his sole arm to pick him from the ground.
Red grasped Chris' hand and mustered all of his power to stand up. He leaned against a wall to stay on his feet.
"Water...I need water" Red said, panting.
Chris helped Red get to the sinks, where the latter once again pour water on his face and drank some water as well. After a few minutes of silence, Red felt better and was at last able to stand on his own two feet by himself, although still a bit dizzy. He thanked the stranger who helped him and introduced himself, while Chris did the same. When the introductions were over, Chris said:
"You should visit the infirmary, kid. I don't think you should take on the excitement of the Power Training in your condition. It is best to get some rest."
Red knew that Chris had a point, but it was vital for him to attend the Power Training so he could find more about the other students. He needed the information to find the allies he was seeking.
"No doctors...Take me to Deborah. She should be able to tell me what is going on." he replied.
Red described Deborah and Chris helped Red walk back to the main Hall. Red told him to let him walk on his own in the main Hall, since it could cause trouble if someone saw that he was in a bad state, although he was pale, only now starting to regain his color. After a small search, they located Deborah, along with another girl. They both approached them and Chris said:
"This kid was white as a ghost when I found him. He said that you could help him."
"Something happened Deborah. My power can't function properly. I need you to tell me what is going on!" Red completed Chris' sentence.
Victoria LaRouse
"Oui, it's totally correct, mon ami!" Victoria said to Henry's French language attempt.
She was incredibly happy when Henry would try speaking French, it felt like he cared about her, which gave her a reassuring and pleasant feeling. She caressed Henry's cheek as a thank-you sign. It was saddening that Henry's lizard traits were permanent. It was a colossal obstacle for Victoria's affection for Henry, not because she was disgusted by his looks, but because she didn't know if Henry was attracted to human women at all. Of course, she never thought about asking him, in case he would feel offended from the question. Apart from that, she didn't care about others would say or how it would look. Henry was more human than most humans she met and most people would not be able to cope with the power Henry had, but he was able to smile everyday in the Academy, something that Victoria more than respected. Actually, she would be ready to smack a kick to anyone who would talk about their relationship, if it existed. It was enough that Henry would value her as a friend and that he called her Vicky. There weren't many people who Victoria allowed to call her like that. Valjean called her Vicky once and he got a kick in his face. Of course, it ended up in a mess with Victoria on the losing side.
Victoria climbed down from Henry's back a bit, with her face next to his own and her body attached to his back. It was good that Henry's muscle structure could effortlessly cope with her weight, so she could stay on his back without him minding. She rubbed her head against his gently, so as to not be scratched by the rough skin and joked:
"Here we are Croco. We will claim that this is a new ability you unlocked, the Hydra! You now have another head, although it's more...me! I am sure that Adam would be fooled by something like that!".
Victoria would never admit that she just wanted to be next to Henry and that she wished that they would pair up for the Power Training. With this many students, though, the odds were not high. At last he also noticed Dana and Theresa and finally spoke to them too:
"Oh, Dana and Scarfy! Excusez-moi! How are you doing ladies?"
Calling Teresa Scarfy was by no means offending, it was teasing. Usually, Teresa would reply with a nickname of her own, so they could get even.
