Fabine shrugs. "I didn't hear anything." He did, of course, he also saw Nova, but he wasn't going to act until Vera gave the word. She also hadn't told him to keep an eye out for anyone. So why should he tell he that there was a rabin there?

Vera frowned, almost certain that she had heard someone among the trees. She didn't doubt her leader's senses, but she also didn't doubt her own. "I want to avoid anyone running for backup," she whispered. She gestured over to one side of the path. "Go scan that area quickly for any surprises before we close in on the camp. Tell me if you find anything," she directed at Fabine. "I'll check over here." She glanced in the other direction.

Nova's eyes widened in alarm as she could pick up what the smaller Brom was ordering. What if he finds me? she thought, horrified at the idea. Would he just kill me right here?

Fabine nods and follows her to the shadows. He strains b to listen to the going ons in the camp. He frowns a bit as he hears some movement, but nothing heading towards them.

Nova crept towards where she had detected the movement, trying to keep her footsteps absolutely silent. She strained her neck a bit trying to peer out from behind the tree she used as cover. She spotted two bodies in the distance, and couldn't immediately identify either. But as the taller figure glanced in her general direction, she gasped, recognizing Fabine, the leader of the Broms.

Vera stiffened at what sounded to be a muffled gasp. She narrowed her eyes and peered around suspiciously, drawing her bow threateningly. "Did you hear that?" she hissed to Fabine.

Fabine looks around more frequently, definitely more concerned and wary now that they were in enemy territory. He glances at Vera, hoping she would be smart in her decision making.

Vera noticed Fabine glancing around warily, but was glad that he was true to his promise to let her make the decisions. She felt a bit of respect for him and nodded slightly as they continued on. She suddenly could smell campfire, and instinctively shrunk into the shadows of a tree. "We're close now," she whispered, more for her own sake than his.

Nova frowned when she heard footsteps crunching through the leaves in the distance. The patrol shouldn't be near here, and I didn't think anyone else was out hunting... she thought nervously.

Fabine shrugs. "It's hard to know what yRabins do half the things they do..." he jumps across the river as well, not pulling out his dagger.

Nova was out hunting in the early afternoon, her favorite time to enjoy the warmth and bright sunlight streaming through the trees. She walked along quietly, humming ever so slightly, as her eyes carefully watched for signs of an animal's presence.

Vera paused for a moment. She had never been to the Rabin camp before, but didn't want to seem helpless. She shook her head slightly and decided instead to simply follow the patrol trail to the camp. She wondered silently about what it would be like when they reached the camp. Will Destin and Misha just be sitting there, hands tied? Would anyone be guarding them? Is the Rabin camp even guarded?
<Snipped quote by jaywing93>

"Well it was Destin and Misha, and no one has seen them for several days. We really need our healer back."

"Why would they have taken them? Especially Destin," Vera said softly, her eyes softening. She clenched her teeth and knew they'd bring them home safely. She pulled her bow off of her back as she leapt across the river, readying herself for any surprises.

"Going on 3 years." Fabine nods as they walk. He looks around as they walk.

Vera nodded, and noticed the river up ahead. "What do you know about how these Broms went missing?" she inquired, glancing around to make sure thereally were no lingering patrols or hunting Rabins.

Fabine rolls his eyes but doesn't say anything as she follows, letting her make the decisions. His fingers trace the knife in his sheath. He looks around as they walk, doing his usual mental rundown of the situation even though there wasn't one yet.

As they continued quickly toward the border, she glanced back at Fabine and asked curiously, "How long have you been the leader of the Broms?"
<Snipped quote by jaywing93>

Fabine nods, as ready as he would ever be. IT felt weird, going on a rescue mission in person. He hadn't been on one in months, maybe years at this point. Hell, he couldn't remember the last time he willingly would follow orders from a fellow Brom without being coerced into doing so.

Vera lead the way out of camp at a quick, steady pace. "The Rabin patrols run from east to west, and they've probably already set out, so heading east should keep us clear of any major issues near the border," she reasoned, heading towards that general diection.
<Snipped quote by jaywing93>

"Obviously not. I would expect you to throw your life in my place though, let yourself be killed before I would." Fabine disappears into his tent, grabbing his dagger. He puts it in the sheath at his waist before heading out of the tent. "Alright, we're not telling anyone what's going on. Hopefulyl if all goes well, we'll be back...eventually?"

Vera nodded, although she knew he wouldn't be able to see her doing so. She shook her head in response to the doubt in his words. "I'm not going to spend any longer than necessary in Rabin territory," she scowled. She felt her quiver to guarantee a sufficient supply of arrows aND nodded. "Ready?"
<Snipped quote by jaywing93>

Fabine smirks at the prospect. "Sounds like a great idea to get me out of the camp." He heads towards his tent. "You're in charge, I will obey without question, so keep that in mind going into this, if you get me killed, that's on your head. If we get captured too, that's on you."

Vera's eyes widened in shock. She chuckled slightly, recovering from her surprise, and called after him, "If you die, do I not get the job then?" and smirked teasingly. While he headed towards his tent, her mind raced with what their first move would be.
