Jarek

Practically moments after Jarek stepped through the portal, he cursed his stupidity. He had just watched an old man and young woman become enveloped in some unknown portal, possibly disintegrated right before his eyes, and what was his first thought? "Oh, I'll just go in after them." Not a care in the world, he jumped through. It wasn't like his life was lacking in problems without random events like this coming up. He had his survival to worry about. How to find work, make money enough to rent inns and but food, where to hunt, tracking down his master's - Tracking down that man, and now this?

As he began to grow more aware of his surroundings, Jarek noticed that he thankfully was still alive. Well, sort of. All around him was a greenish color. It enveloped him, clinging to his skin like fog. He couldn't breath, be it because there was no air around him, or maybe because he didn't even have a body at this point. He couldn't tell. All he knew is that he was going somewhere, and fast. Was it the afterlife? Some sort of heaven? Possibly someplace worse?

For several minutes, maybe even longer, he was left in suspense, wondering where he was and what had happened to him. He wanted to scream, to lash out, do anything to break the monotony of the tunnel around him. And then, it ended.

He found himself face first on the cold stone floor of a hall. At first he was dazed, confused. Who wouldn't be? He stood, rubbing his bruised nose and cursing his luck. He tilted his head, looking down the hall. Candles burned around him on either side. Had someone been here recently? None of the candles were out, each burning brightly. He also noted that the girl and the old man were no where to be seen, but- yes, there it was again. Talking. Down the hall just a little ways, he could hear two people talking. One of them obviously sounded quite excited, or surprised. It was the voice of a woman. Perhaps she wasn't in danger after all. Maybe Jarek had just stumbled across something he shouldn't have. He turned, hoping to find the portal still there, only noticing now that there were multiple portals scattered across the hall.

Slowly, he turned back to face the voices. He wanted to get out of, well, wherever he was now, but he didn't want to risk teleporting someplace worse, like off the side of a cliff. Slowly, he inched forward, trying to get a good look at the two people speaking while remaining unseen by them. Holding his breath, he edged around the corner of the hall and leaned in to listen to the two speak.
I'm still up for GMing this, if you all are still interested. I've been pretty busy and haven't really had time to check up on this, so I apologize for that. Looks like we're waiting on IC posts from Inertia and Aquaknight.

I'm totally up for it. So, have you gotten any word on whether Aquaknight and Inertia are still in this?
Everything alright? Haven't seen anyone posting in a while.
How are the finals going? Well I hope?

I just thought, before I do another post do we all want to meet up wherever my character is, or are you okay with me just to continue posting? Don't want you all to get left behind an' all that.

Finals are going really great, thanks for asking. Starting my final English paper and I'm understanding all of the material for the other classes, so I'm pretty confident that I'll ace them. Still a couple of weeks before I finish up, but it's getting really close.

As for posting consistency, I'm not sure how RP stories normally work (this is one of my first ones), but I'm enjoying it just the way it is. Then again, it's been a little while since we've started so I would think that the sooner you create the event that brings us together, the better. Within the next few posts at least.
Jarek

As he silently approached the beast-like creature, Jarek noted that he was probably overreacting. It was just that he had never really seen anything like the creature before him. Strange creatures, yes, but never dog people. Maybe it wasn't even a dog, but the only creature he had ever seen with a head even slightly resembling that of the figure was a wolf, but even that wasn't near that of what stood before him. Maybe it was friendly, he thought to himself, but he had no way of knowing for sure. He was on a strange path where an evil wizard was said to live, so he wasn't taking any chances just yet.

As he moved closer, he saw that the beast was now standing before two people. The people looked frightened, one of them an old man and the other a rather beautiful young woman. Strange. How many more people would he find on this path? Was this mage really so popular that he received numerous guests on cold and miserable days such as this? He shrugged. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to make himself known to the group. Or perhaps all of those that stood before him were servants to a wicked master.

His thoughts were cut short though as the very air before him began to open up, as if reality was ripping apart at the seems. Both the woman and the old man were enveloped by the light, leaving the beast looking rather dazed and confused. Jarek stared at the portal in awe. In his short life he had never seen anything like what he had just witnessed. If this was the power of magic, then it was probably a power that could help him achieve his quest. Though on a darker note, if this was the power of magic, the man who killed Jarek's master probably had such power. Either way, Jarek had to figure out what he had just witnessed.

His eyes drifted past the creature standing before the portal - for it had to be a portal. Why else would it still be there? Where else could the two others have gone? (Burned to ashes, he thought, but he quickly pushed that idea out of his mind). Either way, there was something about the woman that caught Jarek's attention. He had only just glanced her, but he assumed that she was responsible for the portal that now stood before him. Maybe she was a wizard (or witch. Jarek had never learned the proper terminology for magic-users). Maybe she had the power to help him. At the very least, maybe she was in trouble and needed assistance. If that was the case, maybe he could walk out of the whole situation with a few more coins to spare.

He cursed his brashness. His master had always said that it would be the death of him. With a shrug of his shoulders, he gave the beast creature a charismatic grin as he ran by and leaped through the portal dramatically.
I'll try and post up tomorrow.
Might be busy the following weak.

It's all good. I'm pretty busy a lot of the time too, especially with finals going on over where I am. As long as the DM's cool with it, I'm cool with it.
Sorry for the wait, had trouble getting a post up, plus I somehow got it into my head that we're waiting for someone else(which some technically are). So, anyone else still in this?

No worries, I'm just enjoying reading what others are posting, plus I got a few other RPs right now, so personally I'm in no rush.
Chen

Chen had half a mind to throw a knife between the shoulder blades of the woman as she left the room, but quickly dismissed the idea. That would only prove her point. Chen quickly stood up, adding a few notes to his notebook before putting it away. The equalist did have a point, that is, if destroying a theater screen with a giant bolt of lightning didn't count as attacking. Still, it was a rather crafty plan that the woman had assembled. She had goaded the benders into attacking her, into making the first move of violence. She hadn't even given her name before the fighting started. He cursed the hastiness of the benders, but he couldn't help but understand why they did what they did.

Speaking of which, he could figure out why they did what they did! The only problem he now faced was determining whether he should talk to the earth and water bender who had stood and fought or the Avatar. Well, that was a no brainer. The attack (or protest) was directed at the Avatar. Why not talk to him?

Chen walked over the the Avatar, trying to appear casual. He would rather not have the Avatar realize that he was nothing more than a journalist scrounging around for details. Instead, he decided to first play the slightly concerned citizen approach. He gave Kazuki slight grin as he walked towards him.

"Not exactly how you expected your day to go, is it?" Chen said casually, "Who was that woman anyway? More importantly, what are you going to do about it? It seems like she means business, and I doubt that's the last we'll see of her."
So, is this RP dead then? It's been ten days since anyone posted.
