Requirements: 1/4 pouch, applied to any surface (must match the surface of the target area), takes 10 to 20 minutes to prepare. Requires half of a square metre.
A ritual which summons a being that reaps the target designated by the ritual. A summoning spell, woe be to those who err when attempting the cast this ritual. The smallest of mistakes can spell utter disaster.
Requirements: 1/100 to 1 pouch, applied to any surface, takes 15 minutes to prepare. Requires 1 square metre.
A ritual that employs and activates all the rest of Broggan's rituals simultaneously. Devilishly difficult to prepare, requiring days to properly organize, it is nevertheless, a potential game-changer when used properly.
Requirements: 6 pouches, applied to ritualmaster, takes at least 72 hours to prepare assuming presence of all necessary components. Requires 90% of the ritualmaster's body.
Hey all, back for the New Year. Time to get back to the internet chores n' things. First off, the Gauntlet has been thrown. I eagerly await news of who shall take it up first! Second of all, I will be updating the activity list presently. So, look forward to an update on that shortly! Lastly, hope all had a grand Holiday season! I'm hoping to have a real banger this year, and you folks are a part of that.
Jordan hung from the bleachers, blood rushing to his head, and watched in his inverted position, as students walked toward the track and field upside down along the sky. Some he noted called up to him or pointed him out, others decided to stretch and warm up, while yet more simply lazed about and waited to be told what to do, no doubt with much reluctance. Jordan took a deep breath and exhaled, his stretches seemed to have loosened him up sufficently. Every year this first class took more out of him, but it was certainly not too much for him by any stretch. It was however, a little dangerous, even after much practice. You never knew what a student might throw at you without prompting, especially the young untrained ones.
"Good morning students!" Jordan bellowed, his voice carrying all the way up to the Academy's Central building. "Now, some of you might be thinking that this is the part where I run you ragged. The part where I make you do drills until you can't stand up and you feel sorer than a heavyweight champ after a losing bout. Some of you may be thinking this is the part where we all stand round in a circle and play a little game where we all get to learn each other's names. Some of you may be thinking, shit, I hate gym class and I just want it to be over. Well, to that last group of people, I say congratulations! You can end gym class right this second. All you need to do, is get my distinguished feet to touch the ground. Then you can leave, go to your other classes, write a book, I don't care. Today, whoever is able to make me touch the ground shall earn the distinguished honour of ending the gym class early, and if none of you can accomplish it, I'm afraid to say that I've gotten Headmaster Hargor's approval to keep you all from attending your other classes, or even using your dorms. So my students, it might take one of you, or it might take all of you. Either way, class is in session, and I'm waiting!"
Naturally, that last part about Hargor stopping classes and blocking the dorms was a fiction, but a well-practiced one, and Jordan and yet to see a student call his bluff. Now Jordan stretched his fingers, clenched his legs, and gave one last deep breath before scanning the gathered class below. Invariably, after some time to take in what their teacher had declared, somebody would fire a testing shot of some kind. Jordan couldn't suppress a grin. His deeper thoughts from before fell away as he focused on playing the game as best he could.
Personality: Hrólfr Kraki is greedy, glory-hungry, and violent. He also protects his own, and reviles those whom are traitors. Traitors to him, that is, as Hrólfr's sense of honour isn't constrained to petty contracts and agreements. He protects those who protect him, and he trusts only those he deems 'drowned in blood', because he can understand how those sorts of people think. He also believes that the greatest glory comes at the price of the sword. A rogue's rogue, a Northern Conqueror, a man whose charisma is fit to inspire men to follow him into hell. Many would say Hrólfr is insane, a genius, and both at the same time. He binds those about him in oaths of duty, and then takes them to the strongest foe, and they do battle. Hrólfr makes no claims of great ideals, or fighting for something bigger than himself. He fights for himself. He loves the fight as many have before and after him. In that, Hrólfr is the King of Soldiers, the Prince of Battle.
History: Several conflicting legends exist detailing Hrólfr's life, and while none of them is precisely true, the one given below provides the closest, most accurate account of Hrólfr's life.
In Hrólfr Kraki's saga, Halfdan (Healfdene) had three children, the sons Helgi (Halga) and Hróarr (Hroðgar) and the daughter Signý. The sister was the eldest and married to Sævil Jarl, with whom she had the son Hrókr. Halfdan was murdered by his own brother Fróði (Froda) and the two brothers had to seek refuge with a man called Vivil on an island, until they could avenge their father and kill Fróði. Whereas Hróarr moved to Northumbria and married the king's daughter, Helgi (i.e. Halga) went to the Saxons wanting to woo their warlike queen Oluf. She was, however, not interested and humiliated Helgi by shaving his head and covering him with tar, while he was asleep, and sending him back to his ship. Some time later, Helgi returned and through a ruse, he kidnapped the queen for a while during which time he made her pregnant.
Having returned to her kingdom, the queen bore a child, a girl which she named Yrsa after her dog. Yrsa was set to live as a shepherd, until she was 12 years old, when she met her father Helgi who fell in love with her, not knowing it was his daughter. Oluf kept quiet about the parentage and saw it as her revenge that Helgi would wed his own daughter. Helgi and Yrsa had the son Hrólfr.
Learning that Helgi and Yrsa lived happily together, queen Oluf travelled to Denmark to tell her daughter the truth. Yrsa was shocked and although Helgi wanted their relationship to remain as it was, Yrsa insisted on leaving him to live alone. She was later taken by the Swedish king Aðils (Eadgils) as his queen, which made Helgi even more unhappy. Helgi went to Uppsala to fetch her, but was killed by Aðils in battle. In Lejre, he was succeeded by his son Hrólfr.
Hrólfr soon assembled twelve great berserkers named Hrómundr harði, Hrólfr skjóthendi, Svipdagr, Beigaðr, Hvítserkr inn hvati, Haklangr, Harðrefill, Haki inn frækni, Vöttr inn mikilaflaði, Starólfr, Hjalti inn hugprúði and Bödvar Bjarki.
After some time, Bödvar Bjarki encouraged Hrólfr to go Uppsala to claim the gold that Aðils had taken from Helgi after the battle. Hrólfr departed with 120 men and his twelve berserkers and during a rest they were tested by a farmer called Hrani (Odin in disguise) who advised Hrólfr to send back all his troops but his twelve berserkers, as numbers would not help him against Aðils.
They were at first well received, but in his hall, Aðils did his best to stop Hrólfr with pit traps and hidden warriors who attacked the Danes. Finally Aðils entertained them but put them to a test where they had to endure immense heat by a fire. Hrólfr and his berserkers finally had enough and threw the courtiers, who were feeding the fire, into the fire and leapt at Aðils. The Swedish king disappeared through a hollow tree trunk that stood in his hall.
Yrsa admonished Aðils for wanting to kill her son, and went to meet the Danes. She gave them a man named Vöggr to entertain them. This Vöggr remarked that Hrólfr had the thin face of a pole ladder, a Kraki. Happy with his new cognomen Hrólfr gave Vöggr a golden ring, and Vöggr swore to avenge Hrólfr if anyone should kill him. Hrólfr and his company were then attacked by a troll in the shape of a boar in the service of Aðils, but Hrólfr's dog Gram killed it.
They then found out that Aðils had set the hall on fire, and so they broke out of the hall, only to find themselves surrounded by heavily armed warriors in the street. After a fight, king Aðils retreated to summon reinforcements.
Yrsa then provided her son with a silver drinking horn filled with gold and jewels and a famous ring, Svíagris. Then she gave Hrólf and his men twelve of the Swedish king's best horses, and all the armour and provisions they needed.
Hrólfr took a fond farewell of his mother and departed over the Fyrisvellir. When they saw Aðils and his warriors in pursuit, they spread the gold behind themselves. Aðils saw his precious Svíagris on the ground and stooped to pick it up with his spear, whereupon Hrólf cut his back with his sword and screamed in triumph that he had bent the back of the most powerful man in Sweden.
Hrólfr lived in peace for some time. However, his half-elven half-sister Skuld was married to Hjörvarðr (Heoroweard) one of Hrólfr's subkings, and she began to turn her husband against Hrólfr. Under the pretext that they would wait three years before paying the accumulated tribute at one time, Skuld assembled a large army which included strong warriors, criminals, elves and norns. She used seiðr (witchcraft) to hide the great muster from Hrólfr and his champions.
They then arrived at Lejre one yule for the midwinter celebrations, with all the weapons hidden in wagons. A fight started and like in the account found in Gesta Danorum, Bödvar Bjarki fought in the shape of a spirit bear until he was awakened by Hjalti. Skuld used her witchcraft to resuscitate her fallen warriors and after a long fight Hrólfr and all his berserkers fell.
Skuld became the ruler of Denmark but did not rule well. Bödvar Bjarki's brothers Elk-Froði and Þorir Houndsfoot went to Denmark to avenge their brother. The Swedish queen Yrsa gave them a large Swedish army headed by Vöggr. They captured Skuld before she could use her magic and tortured her to death. Then they raised a mound for Hrólfr Kraki where he was buried together with his sword Skofnung.
Vöggr's Oath - The oath of vengeance sworn by Vöggr takes its effect, should Hrólfr fall in battle, and that ancient soul lends his strength to Hrólfr, allowing him to rise again long enough to avenge himself on his killer. Does not revive Hrólfr, who succumbs to his wounds as soon as his vengeance is done. (Single Usage, requires a stream of prana to maintain.)
Backbreaker - Initiating attacks against opponents who are more injured than Hrólfr activates a + Rank Up in STR and AGI. Passive Skill.
Face of A Kraki - Hrólfr takes a rank penalty to AGI, and gains a boost to CON. AGI becomes C and CON becomes B. This skill can be switched on and off at will, however doing so costs prana, and must be done while standing still.
Noble Phantasm(s):
Name: Skofnung
Title: Sword of Twelve Souls
Rank: A (Passive) -A to E (Active)
NP Type: Anti-Unit / Anti-Army
Range: 2 (Passive) / 30 (Active)
Maximum Number of Targets: 39
Description: Skofnung, the sword of Hrolfr Kraki, was formally known as the best of all swords carried in northern lands, and the sharpest blade ever forged. Skofnung's cuts keep cutting until the victim is ripped apart, unless the Skofnung Stone touches the wound. Similar accounts detail that cuts made by Skofnung will never heal unless touched by the Skofnung Stone. The Noble Phantasm has manifested Skofnung in such a manner that the twelve souls of Hróki's berserkers are sealed in the blade itself. Each seal lends a unit of power to Skofnung, Hróki can weaken the sword and free his berserkers to gain an advantage in battle, with each berserker gaining the attributes of Skofnung (at that level when they are released) in their own abilities. Thus, consequently, were all the berserkers to be released simultaneously, they would be at their maximum level of power, whereas if the last berserker were released separately, both the sword and this last fighter, would be greatly reduced in their ability to help fight. The following highlights the levels of power of Skofnung, and what is gained and subsequently lost at each stage. Releasing seals is an irreversible process, and should be considered with the same seriousness as the use of a Command Seal.
A - Default level of power, can breach any defence, magic or mundane, and leaves true wounds that cannot be healed. The sword's blade is unbreakable, and can withstand forces many thousands of times that of the actual blade's strength.
B - Can no longer pierce any defence, its cutting ability reduced to that of a superbly sharp sword. Still deals true wounds and is unbreakable.
C - Superbly sharp, no longer deals true wounds, is unbreakable.
D - Skofnung is further dulled, but it can still trade blows with Excalibur without yielding.
E - Skofnung becomes a normal sword, a shadow of its former glory. At this stage, Hrólfr had better have his hands on the Grail, or else be able to fight off opponents with whatever comes to hand, because his legendary sword is no longer imbued with the legends of old, and it is still a godly weapon, but only compared to the weapons of mortals. To other Servants, it may as well be a twig. A very pretty twig, but nothing more.
The plus and minus modifiers are also represented, though these seal levels merely fractionally reduce Skofnung's strength. At B+ for example, Skofnung may pierce every defence 50% of the time, and fail the other 50%.
Revised Nick Chamberlain;
Name/Title: Nick Chamberlain
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Personality: Nick will do whatever it takes to win the Holy Grail War, and he considers determination the greatest virtue any person can have. A relentlessly hard-working, mildly obsessive, and courageous man, Nick's motivations come from the deepest part of his heart. There is a kind of wisdom in his way of always pressing forward, never ever giving ground unless he absolutely has to. Nick's a friendly guy, unless a person is standing in his way, in which case Nick just became a that person's worst nightmare. Nick isn't terribly academically inclined, though he's not above hitting the books for a good reason. Moreover, Nick has felt that in changing his mentality from that of the Fighter, to that of a protector, life holds more fulfillment for him. Where before there was only senseless violence, now there is a world of potential that he can see opening up before him. Of course, all he has to do, is win one last fight. And that's why Nick will give it his all.
Appearance:
Biography: Born to an American boxer and his wife in July of 1980, Nick inherited a trust fund from his father, who was a famous and influential fighter in his time. He was educated in a private institution for business education, and also had a membership at the local boxing club. In his teenage years, Nick was approached by an independent magical tutor who showed him how to unlock the potential he already possessed to make use of his magic circuits. At the outset of his twenties, Nick had a degree in Business Studies, an unbroken title in his local boxing club, and most impressive of all, a formal apprenticeship to a Magus of the Clock Tower, albeit a renegade. This renegade apprenticeship of sorts set Nick on the path to becoming a master. He would spend the next four years being tutored in both General Fundamentals of Magecraft, as well as Modern Magecraft Theories. Of course, he decided to take a break from his studies and go on a vacation to Fuyuki, where he was soon caught up in a Holy Grail War.
In the more mundane world of business, Nick is the CEO of the respectable company Chamberlain Ventures Inc. which uses his trust fund as the basis for investments and different financial engagements. This position and his stake in the company provide Nick with much in the ways of resources and support, insofar as daily life can be concerned. Though he leaves much of the management duties and day-to-day grind of his business to his board directors, he still maintains principle executive authority over the company's direction and values.
Family History: On his mother's side, Nick's grandmother was a Magus of a very good pedigree, comparable to a Tohsaka, or an Aozaki, but she kept that part of her life from her daughter for reasons unknown. Nevertheless, the magical heritage was passed down all the same. The true history of Nick's family's lineage only came to light when his tutor approached him, and by that point they were unable to determine which lineage of Magi had sired Nick's grandmother. Unfazed, Nick resolved to begin a new formalized dynasty of Magi, starting with him and his own magical circuits. A strong foundation, to be certain.
Fist Wraps - Nick's fist wraps are Mystic Codes which allow him to, when hitting the pressure points of an enemy magus, or even a willing volunteer, absorb small amounts of their prana. The lethality of the strikes is directly linked to how much prana is absorbed, which is why they are far more effective as offensive tools than as a means of recovering prana from volunteers. Real pain must be inflicted to gain any valuable amount of prana. There are very real and practical limits to a Mystic Code of this sort, but when employed properly, it can be a devastating trump card. Theoretically, they should also function on Servants, even more effectively given the nature of their summoning. But to attack a servant with nothing but one's fists... is nothing short of insane.
Boxing Gloves - Nick's second set of Mystic Codes are his boxing gloves, which work best in tandem with the fist wraps, because their effects combine to reduce the prana cost of the gloves. Specifically, the gloves generate twice as much kinetic force as they would with the normal punching power behind them, and this extra force can be compounded the more prana is channelled into the gloves. Effectively, the first blow would generate enough kinetic force to press the second even further, and so on. Using the gloves is very dangerous, both if used unaided by the wraps which compensate for the rapid increase in prana drain, but also because there is no upper limit to the forces that cannot be achieved. If Nick is either reckless or determined enough, he can place enough force behind a seventh or eighth combo punch to break his body in devastating ways. Its execution at such levels could very well down a Servant, if at the price of rendering Nick incapable of ever punching again. Naturally, if Nick takes time to cancel out the kinetic momentum of the gloves, they will reset. He has had extensive training with them, and can reach combos of four to five punches without risking bodily harm to himself, he is at a serious risk of killing a normal human after merely the third punch.
Personality: Humble and pious, David was one of the finest examples and ideals for Kingship that Israel ever had. His personality exemplified all of the values of a King, from the regal presence all the way down to the caring relationship he had with his subjects. He also proved an excellent negotiator of intrigues and plots, as was shown by his clashes with Saul. The personality of this iteration of David is drawn from the time just after he defeated the giant, and had reconciled himself with Saul, when he was in the prime of God's favour. Guided by a sense of the righteous, and a faith that was proven time and again to be well-warranted, David's lustful side would prove to be his downfall, but he ultimately would redeem himself of this fall from grace. Repentant and promised "a house that will never die", David's last years on earth were spent knowing in his heart and soul that he had given God a life worthy of the living. His summoning to the Holy Grail War will be viewed by him as a Holy Challenge, and one that will consecrate his Kingship of Israel once and for all.
Weapon: Kade, Sling of God (Can also summon Chad, the Sword of Goliath for close combat.)
Parameters:
STR: D
CON: D
AGI: D
MGI: D
LCK: D
Class Skills:
Independent Action - B - Allows servant to remain in the world for two days without a master, though this is constrained by needing to minimize prana consumption and injury in battle.
Marksmanship - S - Servant is masterful with all types of ranged weaponry, and never misses a shot that they can set up properly.
Personal Skills:
Giant Slayer - S - When facing servants whose stats are twice that of his own or higher, David receives a rank-up to the stat with the greatest deficiency, levelling the playing field. This skill has a hard cap of A Rank, however.
The King's Harper - B - David can use this skill to lull an enemy servant or master to sleep, as long as he sacrifices his Giant Slayer advantage, and this skill is overridden by Magecraft as it uses minimal prana as to enchant David's music.
Anointed of God - A+ - Chosen by God as the King of Israel, David receives a stat rank-up every day, of one of his stats by one rank. At the end of each 24 hour cycle, that stat returns to its original rank.
Noble Phantasm:
Name: Tzuriel Uriel Uziel
Title: Goliath's Bane, or, The First Stone
Rank: A
NP Type: Anti-Unit
Range: 1-99
Maximum Number of Targets: 1
Description: A Noble Phantasm which transforms projectiles cast by David, giving them a Holy aura that negates magical protections, and ignores armour. A means of inflicting "true" damage. Does not modify the actual stats of the projectile except to cause it to ignore air resistance, and any other potential obstacles. This effect begins the moment the projectile leaves David's hands, and is connected to his intent. There is a maximal limit to how far this effect can be maintained, for example, if an enemy were to hide on the other side of a mountain and David were to shoot through said mountain, the prana needed to actually support the projectile pushing through the mountain would negate its efficacy. The reserves for prana that support the Phantasm come from David himself, so he cannot merely rely on an extremely powerful master to provide vast pools of prana to make use of. Lastly, the Noble Phantasm effect can be dropped at will, however its effects will destroy the projectile, meaning a cancelled phantasm use is a cancelled shot.
@Kalleth The only real issue with the IC activity meter is it doesn't necessarily count for, say, being held up by others or having a character who won't participate in something like the 'Forest Run'.
If a player has enough of an IC reason to not post as a character for over a month, that character will be given the Italicized Underlined status, and the player in question would still be active if they were posting as a different character. But for the sake of clarity, it doesn't make sense to accommodate reasons such as those as a justification to not mark a character as Inactive when they haven't been in the IC for a month. That is the singular purpose of the list; activity and inactivity.
As for being held up by others, nobody is safe. As I mentioned under the list itself, I'll include the GM and CoGMs in a state of inactivity if when I go to update it we haven't posted in over a month.
