In natural form, the demons represented the very essence of restricted evil, their skin tight along the robust muscles that ran along every inch exposed. They clothed themselves in very little, their look of defiance causing even the strongest of will to look away in fear or disgust, perhaps at times a mixture of both. Sera moved from behind her father's closest friend and set in place a facade that would assist her in gaining victory in the task assigned her, or be the very cause of her fall. She knew the male demon that she'd be paired with would be malicious and violent, she only hoped that part of the accordance in their working as partners meant that he'd play fair in their dealings.

This task was not a competition between heaven and hell, but against something neither had much experience with - a principality of earth itself, spawn from emotion and apathy. How they would deal with their enemy was a different concern than the one that sat upon her heart at the moment - how they might actually deal with one another.

She was not chosen for the task because she was weak or overly kind and caring, but because she possessed the strength of a warrior and the intellect of a scholar, her father God's left hand man namely because of the same traits that had befallen her. Nathaniel knew better than to comfort or speak to her in the presence of the demons, but time was of the essence. Her counterpart had yet to show and her escorts huddled around her to offer a bit more support and guidance before the moment came that would forever separate them. The only portion of the assignment that would be clouded in darkness to both parties would be the very fact that they could never return home and earth would then become their resting place for the remainder of eternity. That was a sacrifice God and his nemesis were willing to make and yet no one had or would divulge that information to the travelers.

Sara turned a bit as Nathaniel and Malachi moved in closer, a look of calm resolution on her lovely features as she squared her shoulders a bit more and let her eyebrow raise in curiosity. "What..."

Malachi cleared his throat, his ivory hand covering his mouth for a moment as crystal blue eye bore into her. She repeated her question once more with a bit more attitude and he finally broke the intensity of the silence.

"You should be aware that once the joining ceremony happens that you and the demon will be one." He looked to Nathaniel as if the other guardian might want to add something to that.

"What exactly do you mean - one? Like two become one in holy matrimony?" Sara felt her chest tighten as the very thought of sharing anything with evil incarnate.

"Not exactly. The joining is a blood letting ceremony, so there will be a part where you will share blood." Malachi spoke quickly with a timid tone.

"Share blood? Why in the world would we need to do something so vile?" She felt her cheeks coloring, the earth moving as others joined them. Neither she nor Malachi looked away as Nathaniel turned to speak with the guardian that would conduct the ceremony.

"Because it is necessary to tie you to one another so that you will have one heart and mind in fixing this devastation that has befallen us. You will still be you and he will still be very much himself, but evil will invade your spirit and goodness will invade his. It's painful and quite uncomfortable, but there is a sense of peace that you'll not understand that befalls you when the two of you are together and moving in harmony. It's part of the design."

"I don't und.." She was cut off my Nathaniel who touched her shoulder and whispered that the time was drawing near.
I'm glad to hear that. My day was nutso, but I guess having those days makes you grateful for the normal ones. :)

I'm sure your post is fantastic as per usual. I'll hopefully get something up this week. Heading out of town on Thursday for a long weekend.
*laughs* You just had to, didn't you?

This place is deserted. No Kate.. no peeps. You're supposed to be a friend, make a friend and... um yeah.
Take all the time you need. I'm in no hurry. :)

Hope your weekend was great.
Thanks. :)

You do whatever you like. I'm happy writing a monologue of her going through the preparation to mobilize or I'm happy to get rolling, whatever you want.
Hopefully that can get us rolling again. :)
Her small thumb brushed his knuckles before she let his hand slip from hers, a sigh leaving her lips as the weight of indecision removed itself from her narrow shoulders, the world seemingly more bright after his acceptance. He spoke again and she pulled herself from the fairy tale of what could be and of course the resolution of finding both her mother and brother, fully in health and bringing them back. The royal house would once again be complete and unbroken, the fragility of what had occurred this far would be removed and her father could once again stand before his people and his opponents and dare them to do anything but love and obey him. He was once a man of great stature, but much like removing the wings from a beautiful falcon, without her mother he could fly no more.

"We will leave just after daybreak. I'll meet you at the castle entrance if that suits you well." She touched the soft curve of her chin and pondered his request. "I honestly believe that you gathering your books on herbs and spells would assist us greatly. Oh.. and doesn't your companion, was his name Arklen? I rarely remember details anymore with the strain of castle life and such."

She chewed on her lips before remembering her hanging request. "Yes, Arklen. Doesn't he have a map of the surrounding countries that would give us a better description of where we are going and the landscapes that we might be faced to endure? My father's maps are detailed for military strategy, but I'd love to actually see a map that was more created for leisure or the very purposes to which our journey beckons us upon."

She paused and thought though the other items they might need, namely food, blankets, a tent and various medical supplies. "My servants can gather the remaining items that we will need. Don't bother yourself with those. I am almost excited. Is that childish of me?"

A look of innocent wonder crossed her flawless features, her large eyes scribed with the wonder of hope that had resurrected itself simply in his agreement to go and the peace that followed. Fear had seemingly found another home beside her for the moment and she was grateful for the chance to look toward tomorrow with optimism and promise. The idea of getting to know her childhood companion again sent a thrill of wonder wrapped in worry up her nerves and a soft giggle left her lips. "Tomorrow then, Orin?"
Hi my friend. Hopefully that will get us rolling again. :)

Missed ya!
She licked at her teeth, the motions so foreign to her and yet she couldn't fathom not ensuring that every morsel of his rich, fragrant blood was off her lips and teeth and ingested into the burning hunger in her belly. She stopped her animalistic motions when he approached, a sense of wanting to respect and become loyal to the man before her flittered through her wandering thoughts and it stopped her in surprise. It must've been the pull of his own blood in her system because before the events of tonight he would never had drawn this close to her and kept his life.

She watched him in a bit of wonder and nodded her head in agreement. She would need training, of that she was assured. The small fire from the far corner of the room licked at the flames it was fed earlier in the night, the corrosive effect of its heat breaking down the very thing that would keep the fire alive. Her mind sat on the subject as he glided toward the door, his very elegance baffling. So many misunderstood the very physical make-up of a vampire. They were thought to be topical nightmare at best and myth at worse and yet people thought of them as human with the tendencies of a monster. How far from the reality that would become her future.

Vampires were simply monsters with human cloaks. Nothing more.

That Vincent could maintain a hold on the beast that he truly was and converse, glide and speak in hushed tones left her with far more questions than answers. The soft touch of his cold fingers on her face reminded her that he was in essence a child of death. She looked from his strong frame to the fire again, her voice soft and yet she knew without a doubt that he could hear her voice as if she were yelling to him in a crowded room. "What is the necessity of the fire if not to warm the living?"

She walked away from her reverie, her stare locked to his as he spoke to her, his offering one she felt the need to grab and drink with expedience, but she held herself tightly in check and simply took the glass, thanked him and stole a glance at the lovely sculpted planes of his body. For being a monster, she'd admit quickly that he was a beautiful one.
Let's do it.

Did you start my mermaid RP? I'm going to be SERIOUSLY upset if not.
