Hi there, I'm Kenaron, a relative newbie to the site currently holding a couple of 1x1s as the partner, but right now I'm looking to make a new kind of story with a little twist, and I've had the idea for months now, so let's give it a try.
First things first, I like to consider myself as an open person; if you think that my story has a flaw of some kind, point it out to me, if you think that you could improve it in some way, or want to add your own twist in it, go ahead, just keep it to the PMs and be civil, I don't take kindly to insults or flat out douchebaggery.
Also, I'm always open to ideas, so propose anything original (I'm not a fandom kind of guy) or make it enough original as for me to be able to follow, as I'm not one to center itself too much on the specifics of preset worlds.
Well, onto the idea:
The setting I had in mind was the generic War Between Kingdoms, a political dispute or flat out want for war has drove two kingdoms to be constantly at each other's throats. Magic is present, and is potent enough as to replace stuff like catapults just for the sheer utility and flexibility of mages.
The story would start once a Princess was kept captive for a couple of months, and every party in charge of getting her back has encountered taken cities filled with ambushes and what not, so every attempt has been thawed by the enemy. Or at least that's how everything seems to be.
The princess has actually been able to escape, and is currently trying to get back to her Kingdom, but is making slow progress, trying to remain hidden and attack with either magic or arrows (or magical arrows). She would be travelling by the countryside, but would eventually find a small abandoned town, devoid of its inhabitants or any guards from either side. Except for one Knight, who was supposed to come to her rescue. He would not find a courtly lady, trying not to cry herself to sleep every night, no. He was to find a strong, capable woman, able to flee from her captors and run towards home once more.
Well, that's the pitch, at least. Now, onto the rules:
-First of any other, I'm looking for some serious investment, someone that would try for reals to make its best with some total stranger on the internet, and that would, in general, make criticism on what they dislike and expect some of it back, for the sake of improving one another.
-I'm not into any smut, no matter if it is completely normal, BDSM or anything else, it's just not a part that I enjoy in Roleplaying.
-You're free to play whichever you want, and characterize them however you want, as I'm not here to tell you how to tell me stuff.
-Posting length should be around high casual-low advanced. I think I can do more, but my style and length tends to be inconsistent. I'm also fine if you want to do low casual, or high advanced (I might struggle on that end, though).
-Posting constantly is not required, not by a long shot. I like the RPs that go lightnigh fast, and that you literally blink and there's a new answer, but I'm okay with posting once every week, or as little as twice, three times a month, even, just don't dissapear without telling me you're going to.
-As long as you have the interest, you're free to tell me anything you'd like to do, where to take the story, and any other thing. You're also free to make some encounter if you feel like it, and also tweak everything you think could use some work.
-PM me if interested. I'm looking for someone that read everything above and is okay with everything listed above, but that would also have the initiative to PM me, as opposed to simply tag me here, as that's the whole idea of being interested, at least in my books
Also, as a closing statement, I'm leaving here noted that I know that someone (or a lot of people) will/could think that this is high standards or something like that, but it's just what I'm looking for, not something to say from my high horse. My horse is medium-sized, a little fat, but normal otherwise.
So, I'm leaving it here to the interest of anyone who wants to read it, and anyone who wants a 1x1 RP. So, yeah, that's it. Yeah, it's okay there. Bye, I guess
@JaceBeleren wouldn't it be kind of tricky to get right? As for people not to say "I have a light shield and I move it around blocking everything" and call it a day? Pardon me if this is too basic of a problem, I'm a newbie to the Arena and combats
@Oak7ree man, I've missed stuff. I like the idea of the dragons not actually influencing change, but making people belive it so that the people themselves enact the change short after the sighting of dragons.
The monster/machine frankenstain could even be an instrument as to oppose said "faith" in dragons, making a godly figure to stand up to them, at least ideologically.
For the world we shluld divide it into stuff, like how much land/water there is? How much continets there are? How did different societies develop and came to understant the world at large compared to one another? We could even have them look up to diferent kinds of dragons, and with the typical division of faithful and scientific sprinkled throughout the continent/s
@Oak7ree, @JaceBeleren, Okay, sorry for not talking for like a day and something, I didn't remember this thread u.u
I've just finished reading the story, and it seems really solid, I like the way it's all tweaked a little bit, it makes it feel really grounded and solid. I like how the setting, with the proffesor and the Royal University, is like a post-scientific revolution world. Is that correct?
- Kiana comes from a small city known simply as Twin River Pass, located between the two major affluents to the Lord's River. The town was originally structured as a circle, with the rivers being its tangents, but eventually the town grew larger and larger, and the expansion lead to a triangular city, with multiple bridges to both sides of the rivers and a huge fishing community. Kiana lived all of her life in that city, sometimes dreaming of travelling far and wide, and sometimes enjoying the place like there was nothing else. The first, though, only grew with the years, and after serving as a River Hand (the City Watch of Twin River Pass), she decided to follow the call for adventure, and eventually, at age 22, bid farewell to her parents. She constantly writes letters to them whenever she can find a time and a place. -
Life:
- When she left home to the adventure and the lands from faraway tales, she made her mind to live on her own. At the young age of 15, she had helped countles times to prepare dinners and foods; by 19, she could fully skin almost any animal, through and through, and was always on the lookout in the forest for some tasty animal. Her father had teached her how to use the bow and arrow, and had taught her the ins and outs of hunting. During her time as a River Hand, she became more and more proficient in cooking and in hunting, and all of those things come into play now that she's on the road. She typically hunts her own food, but can also strike up a deal with some inn or locals, teaching them recipes or providing them with fresh meat in exchange for a roof over her head. Most of the time she waits for morning to move out of the city once more, saying propper goodbyes to everyone she has come to talk, and asking for directions to cities or landmarks, to start the adventure once again. -
Talents:
- Hunting -
- Acrobatics -
- Survival expert -
- Nature knowledge. -
Flaws:
- Homesick -
- Doubtful -
Combat:
- Her time as a City Watch teached her everything she needs to know to get by, she has a masterful aim with the bow, and knows enough swordplay to defend herself, but is always on the lookout for opportunities to run and shoot. Though able to manage and intimidate people, she's never killed a man, and she thinks it's something too dire to do. -
@Aquanthe I think it's perfect just as it is, as much of a short story that it is, I really got drawn into it.
For mine I was kind of sleepy, and just wanted the character to match something resembling a story, so I made him a sort of knight and rolled with it, didn't want to get something more complicated than that at the time.
My story is so short when compared to @Aquanthe's o.o
It would be nice to have them know each other, it could be at the start, them finding each other and realizing they are walking the same path. Still, depends on how exactly @Lich wants to start the IC
@Oak7ree hey, sorry for not saying anything in a while, I've just been out of the loop for a while.
Imma read everything and then say anything that I have to say.
Regarding the way to work with this, I wouldbe inclined towards the example, it souds good. We should still regularly post to let others see, of course
