Miss Amy pointed her open hand towards Khelfin.
"This is Fossil Hunter 07: Kev.. Carl.. ehm.."

Trying to supress his frustration, Khelfin corrected her.
"Khelfin is the name. Khelfin Kjolmar. And this my partner Porygon."

Miss Amy didnt't seem to be care that she got it wrong and kept a straight face. She turned on some kind of device that projected a holographic map of the area. A dot marked a spot on the map.

"There should be a fossil there for you guys to retrieve. However, the area is swamped with hostile wild pokemon so it's an two-person job at least. Please share your field experience with Fossil Hunter 07 as the two of you retrieve the fossil."

Khelfin looked at the marked spot and knew exactly where the location was. This journey would definitely benefit the Mewtwo Corp by the time the mission is completed.

"Fine by me if we both get fully paid but if we have to share the money, I will be going solo. No offense to you, bro."

Miss Amy clicked her tongue. "Do not worry, 07, both of you will get the full payment. I would ask you to work on your social skills but then again, they are no longer important in this new world. Now get moving you two, chop chop."

As he walked towards the exit next to Aro, he looked at him like he reminded Khelfin of someone he used to know but he couldn't place his finger on it.

"I didn't mean to be rude back there, I just really need this money. What was your name again?"
So what are the limits on this as far as trainers go?

I think if you stick to the concept, you can't go wrong :)
Just jump in!
"Identification?" the electronical voice asked.

Khelfin answered with dry voice that sounded a bit too rough for someone his age. The Apocalypse had hit him hard.
"Fossil Hunter 07, Khelfin Kjolmar" he replied.

There was a short beep and the doors opened. He walked inside the building while his Porygon followed him closely. Porygon was covered in dust to make it look like he had been fighting alongside Khelfin for years, while in reality they had only met recently. But they had to convince their employer that Porygon wasn't presented to him on a silver platter by the competition.

A young woman in a lab coat approached with a serious facial expression. When she spoke, the main thing you notice is the formality of her tone.
"Welcome back, Fossil Hunter 07. If you haven't changed your mind, I will present you your first mission for the Genesect Corp."

Khelfin nodded while Porygon made his short beeping sound.
"That is why I am here. Do I get paid upfront?"

The woman pressed her glasses down her nose with her index finger before placing it back where it was before.
"Bold and direct. Don't make me regret hiring you."
She paused shortly and a silence filled the room before she continued.
"But I like it. Follow me for your mission data."

Khelfin wasn't sure what to think of Mrs Amy but she wasn't exactly the life of the party. Then again, neither was he. No one was really cheerful since the world almost ended and most of the population is now gone. Khelfin had gotten a lot more quiet than he used to be. As he followed his employer to the next room, the silence was almost eerie.
Plot:
An apocalyptic event wiped out most of the world. The Pokémon that survived are either used to toxins (Grimer, Trubbish), have a history of outliving other species (Relicanth), are heavyweights with high stamina (Dragonite, Tyranitar, Rhyperion, Aggron, Snorlax), or were in space or in another dimension during the Apocalyps (Cleffa, Staryu, Lunatone, Solrock, Elgyem, Minior, Unknown). All ghost types also survived and scientists have sucesfully revived all fossil Pokémon aswell as artificially create some Pokémon (Voltorb, Porygon, Type:Null, Castform).

Due to new environments, some pokemon have changed their type:
▪ Snorlax: rock
▪ Relicanth: water-psychic
▪ Staryu: water-fairy
▪ Phantump: ghost-poison
▪ Dhelmise: ghost-poison
▪ Decidueye: ghost-poison
▪ Kabuto: steel
▪ Lileep: rock-poison

Active participants:
Khelfin + Porygon2, Alolan Grimer, Duskull
Aro + Tyrunt ('Red'), Honedge
Maya + Archen ('Zombie')
Sabrina + Dhelmise

NPC: Cooper and his Type:Null
NPC: Meredith Cloud (Goldenrod radio)
NPC: Petros

Rules:
☆ Respect the theme, the world nearly ended so your character should generally not be light-hearted (unless you can motivate why he/she is dealing with things in that way).
☆ You start out with max 1 Pokémon, unevolved, no legendary.
☆ Have fun!

My character:
He will have lost all his original Pokémon and also his human friends in the Apocalyptic event, putting him in a lonely mourning proces. He was given a Porygon by Cooper in order to spy on Amy, aswell as keeping the wild -possibly toxic- surviving Pokémon at bay. As far as Amy knows, my character has no ties with Cooper and is merely looking to get payed for finding fossils for her. They are hard to locate with the wild Pokémon being rather agressive towards any human.

On the tips of his toes, Khelfin sneaked inside the Academy of Unseen Arts. On his face was a mischieveous smile, still enjoying whatever had happened right before.

"Unable to sleep, mr Kjolmar?"

Caught a little offguard, Khelfin frowned and pinched his emerald green eyes when he heard this formal voice that he recognized all too well.

Khelfin Kjolmar, firstborn son of the great warlock Aleister Kjolmar, found himself caught on sight as he turned around and stood eye to eye with the High Priest. He nervously combed his hair backwards with his right hand.

"Apologies, Father Blackwood. I was merely..."

"At the Spellman Mortuary, yes, I know. It seems your more fleshly adventures with the weird sisters are not enough to satisfy your needs. Flirt with whoever you want but be cautious about who you are seen with. While Zelda and Hilda are respected members of the Church of Night, that boy you keep seeing is spellbound to those grounds for a reason."

Blackwood placed one hand on Khelfin's shoulder.

"Under my leadership of the church, a young warlock like yourself has high potential, mr Kjolmar. I have big ideas for our male population."

Khelfin nodded and remained silent for a moment. Sometimes he wondered if the High Priest knew about his involvement regarding the Vatican.

"I appreciate your faith in me, Father Blackwood."

Blackwood smiled and wished the young warlock goodnight.
As he left, he turned around once more with a smile on his face.
"Oh and Khelfin?" he asked, less formal this time. "I think you made the weird sisters a little jaleous. It was them who ratted you out tonight."

One of Huntresses had engaged in combat, seemingly saving Khelfin. He had to supress a grin when he realized his plan worked. Keeping a plain and neutral facial expression, he looked straight at her. "Thank you. I thought I wouldnt make it out alive." he lied without even blinking once.

Khelfin knew he would need people to trust him and what better way to achieve that by bonding. "The name is Khelfin. I'm not originally from around here but I guess we all have a responsibility to help Vale, right? Who do I have the pleasure to be saved by?"
