"I've been goofing off for nine hundred years. You gotta settle down and get a job sometime," Klaus said sternly, though the crooked smirk that showed off a fang gave it away as a joke. The smile still didn't reach his eyes, though. And when Caroline's hand reached his arm, he stiffened for a moment and his smile faded as he watched her face. Women were annoyingly perceptive and Caroline was no exception--hell, it was infuriating how perception this one was, and he had to glance away as she invited him to a place of trust. As if that was easy.

Her fingers on his arm tightened and he glanced to her pale hand, reminded of a child gripping their parent's sleeve as they stared with caution at a stranger. He remained quiet, unresponsive. He let her say all that she wanted, and only nodded in agreement: "I'll rip their hearts out of their chests, and watch them struggle with what left they have of life."

Then, like a switch was flicked, she was back. It was only then that an honest smile came to his face--a tired smile, but an honest one nonetheless. He patted his hand to the one she rested against his arm and nodded. "Sounds refreshing, love. Thank you." Then, he sighed and his gaze flickered about the cold city once more. He stood a little taller and his eyes suddenly gleamed with amusement. "Would you like a drink? I could use one myself--warm or a cold one on me, I don't really care at the moment if I'm being honest," he added with a wink.
The steady, thundering hooves on the ground that had been beating against the ground all evening were finally faltering and Eva was forced to allow the horse to slow to a trot and then a walk. She knew she put a lot of distance between herself and what she had called home, but she still looked back over her shoulder to be sure. However, it was dark, and that fact hadn't really registered until now as she squinted her eyes against the blackness. The young lady cursed under her breath and carefully slid to the ground beside War, who sighed heavily and turned his large head to watch her.

The road was clear, but she couldn't quite see any lights or silhouettes indicated that she was near any town; though the moonlight allowed her to distinguish many trees--a forest. "Mm," she hummed, pursing her lips together; the noble was unsure if it was safer to continue to travel the road (she had heard horror stories) or hide in the woods (wolves and bears were less than friendly). She looked to War, as if waiting for his input; and when he only stood sill save for the flick of an ear or tail, she sighed. "You do look tired," she noted. "I'd rather find an inn or town or anything, though." So, she took his reins and continued forward along the road.
I am too! Christmas and Post-Christmas has been busy. I'll work on a post tonight, I promise.
I'm sorry! I'll work on a post right now. Christmas and post-Christmas has been busy to say the least (also I was kinda waiting on Shade to see if they had anything planned / wanted to post when I checked in haha).
The mob dispersed and Klaus slowed to a stop, scowling at the humans as they retreated around corners and down alleyways. Admittedly, the vampire liked mortals quite a lot and would choose to spend time with a human over another vampire. So seeing them respond to loyally and entirely to a fellow vampire irritated him quite a bit--not that he'd ever say so. Still, he straightened himself out and fixed his hair before his gaze flickered about, waiting for the culprit to show herself.

"Oh, I thought you liked it when women threw themselves at you, Klaus," Caroline purred.

The corner of his lip twitched into a smile despite the grumpy haze over his eyes. "Certain women," he responded curtly. And when she responded by flirting, he grew a little cold and glanced away instead of watching her...until she came quite close. His eyes drank in her figure and he found himself leaning into her, drawn to her silky voice like a magnet--

Only for her to turn away.

He blinked, irritation furrowing his brow for just a moment. "If you're lucky," he responded, a lazy smile reappearing on his lips as he stepped forward to follow Caroline. "Unfortunately, love, I'm here on..business of sorts." When he caught up to the French vampire, he looked her up and down and then away as his smirk faded. When he caught up to the French vampire, he looked her up and down and then away as his smirk faded.

He was a sucker for flirting and was always caught off guard when not the initiator, but he still quick to join in--typically. However, the woman was right and he was feeling quite sunken into himself that night, and probably would be during his stay in Chicago. He would never admit to it, but nightmares still plagued his days of his fledgling days and he knew joining The Society's action against Ferals would make it worse. And so, with his thoughts so heavy, he wasn't feeling up to carrying even a fun conversation.
Just a heads up: I work until late tonight, so I won't be posting again until around 11/11 30 EST. But this RP is going be good so far and I appreciate the effort and length you gets are putting into your posts
Klaus suddenly noticed the eerie silence that hung over the block; it was too quiet. There were so few people, and his intuition--built over 900 years--alerted him to the tension in the air and shiver ran up his spine. He slowed in his walk and dropped his hands from his pockets, eyes narrowed against the darkness as he looked around. "Mm," he mumbled, forcing himself to relax. While nothing he happened, his guard remained up as he started to walk again.

Suddenly, a woman. She was running right at him. Then another. And another--

Klaus was swarmed by unknown humans, shrieking and begging for his attention. When he realized they weren't trying to kill him, he admittedly felt a swell of pride for a moment. But just for a moment: attention was nice, but not when it was from dozens of people all at once in a public place. So he cursed and snapped at them, "Get off me!" He pulled his arms away and twisted and pushed his way out of the crowd of adoring fans. Then he ran--not fast enough to warrant attention as a supernatural creature, but fast enough to hopefully outrun his personal mob.

"Fuck you!" he snapped at the dark sky, slowing down only to check his back. He knew she was out there somewhere.
They are working on posts, I promise. Our GMs are busy, is all
You're alright, don't worry about it. It happens
@BreakingMe They can't necessarily sense one another, but as your sense of hearing and smell grow stronger, you might be able to tell. Also, turned vampires do have fangs and ashen skin, so these are things Hunters and vampires alike will notice.
