The Gray Dynasty: Finn Olsen

No sooner than Finn had taken in what Reika had said, he felt the whole ship beginning to move. Knowing from experience the perils of not being strapped down for take off Finn bolted to his room the touchpad turning green and the door opening automatically as he approached, with no time to get seated Finn hastily flipped a switch on the side of each of his boots activating their magnetism and fixing him to the floor. He was lucky that the boots came halfway up his calf otherwise his ankles would have been dislocated by the sudden jerk, he felt himself leaning back at an increasingly alarming angle and his boots slowly being edged backwards sliding him across the room… until it was finally over. Finn stumbled out of his room his back aching and his legs sore, he was sure that one day he would injure himself during takeoff just from the force alone. The thought of injury suddenly becoming dread reality as he looked down the corridor and saw Abigail crumpled against the far wall of the corridor, his concern quickly turning to relief as he saw her get up and race towards the ladder. Letting out a sigh of relief Finn reached for his pipe which he saw had lost its tobacco during takeoff which was now a black smudge on his wall, refilling his pipe carefully and relighting it Finn deactivated his boots and sat down on his bed. Tuning into the exterior cameras and sensors Finn sucked on his pipe and watched the vast expanse of space rush by, a rare calming experience though he knew it couldn't last long.

Getting up and finishing the last of the tobacco in his pipe Finn calmly walked out of his room and up towards the ladder noticing with concern a drop of blood on the rungs, moving faster now Finn was about to enter the briefing room when he heard voices coming from the door. Deciding to keep away from any conflict which may arise he sat himself down, this was the security room making it almost perfect for his purposes. Keeping his eye tuned into the exterior he set up the hologram he had downloaded earlier to appear in miniature form, next to the console he was using, information still appearing on the map as he worked. Looking at their destination Finn saw that they were taking a fairly routine journey… too routine, people would be keeping an eye out for activity on anything connected to mars considering recent events, even with a fairly incognito ship they ran the risk of being picked out by inspections by people who's allegiance didn't necessarily lie with the Grays, but if he led them too far off the beaten path they risked walking their little ship into pirates territory. He set out a slightly longer route for the pilot which would take them to the same station but in a way which would let them avoid any attention until they reached mars where they would be safe. Sending the route to the pilot Finn leaned back in his chair and closed his good eye smiling as he watched the stars pass by once more.

Seeing 'Abi' waving at him Finn walked over to his two new crew mates; the engineer and the Havvika doctor, he hoped to get along with these people and avoid another awkward journey with a silent crew. "Hiya Abi, I'm Finn" he said waving back and walking over to them, smiling he continued "So what do yous two think of the ship, pretty nice eh." Then realising he hadn't yet spoken to the Havvika properly he turned to them saying "Sorry love I don't think I got your name."

Finn let out a sigh of relief as he finally came down the hatch to the living quarters, upon leaving the briefing area he had quickly lost track the others and had ended up wondering around the ship unable to find his map in his jumbled pack, at least he had been able to get his bearings and hopefully wouldn't get lost again. Hurrying down the corridor he flashed a smile at Abigail and the Havvika whose name he hadn't caught who were chatting by one of the rooms.
Eventually taking the room furthest down the corridor to the left Finn was glad to be able to get into the room relatively painlessly, though once in the screen was filled with far too much information 'it's as if someone had taken a map of space and tried to make it 2D' he thought to himself as he fumbled through the menus until everything was as it should be. Though his name was now displayed as neslO nniF rather than Finn Olsen after an unsuccessful attempt to have his name appear above his door.

Setting up his room he lay out his clothes neatly in his drawers, with the exception of his space suit which he set to inflate itself so that it would stand like a mannequin at the back of the room. He then set about making the room feel a bit more like home, magnetising his harpoon to the wall and more importantly turning up the temperature, those kids could all freeze themselves if they wanted but Finn was determined to have his room a reasonable temperature for human life. Finally Finn integrated his eye with the ships console, downloading he data saved on his chip onto the computer and connecting to the exterior cameras and sensors. Sitting down Finn set up a holographic image of all known space in the centre of the room and watched as new information appeared on it as the information downloaded, he now had a map which condensed all of the information he had gathered from trade routes and areas patrolled by pirates to the locations of old friends, all in one easily readable map... so long as you were Finn.

Finn smiled, he felt like he could do his job now. He lit his pipe and strolled out of his room feeling much more relaxed than he had previously.

Finn smiled as he saw the wight, it reminded him of the old mining ships that he used to see in The Belt which were affectionately nicknamed 'clunkers' on his home station. Something seemed off about it though, despite its rugged appearance it was too clean and there weren't enough side panels missing, there weren't even any large dents in the hull. Adjusting his bag on his back and making his way inside he noted that the equipment all looked too good to be used in a clunker, it almost seemed as if half the ship wanted to fall apart whilst the other half wanted to fly across the galaxy and back again. Sighing, Finn stopped and rested against the wall of the corridor remembering the times he'd traveled on a rickety old mining ship as an escort and how it had always managed to make him fear for his life as it took off.

Setting off again he slowly made his way to the briefing area taking in his new surroundings as he meandered through the various rooms. Walking through the sliding doors of the briefing area Finn saw that two of his new crew mates had already arrived. Carefully setting down his belongings he eyed the pair curiously, the older gentleman looked around his age (though Finn didn't look their age) looking at the young lady made him shiver, he didn't know how young people could wear such thin clothes and still be warm. Reaching out a hand whilst pulling his coat tighter with the other he greeted them both, "Hello there I'm Finn Olsen, and who might you be?" He said whilst giving them a warm smile.

Zrell would probably be able to guess the first point listed by shadow but would probably prefer to force something out of the prisoner than make judgments based on that.

After half an hour of mixing ingredients Namia was finally about to finish his work, he tipped the ground up wendigo teeth into the solution before pouring it into a small cylindrical vial which he then bunged and shook vigorously. He then held the vial up to the light revealing the liquid's deep blue colour, it was time for the final test. Being careful not to use too much he let a single drop of the liquid drop out of the vial and onto the palm of his hand... the pain was instant and sharp but not unbearable "good" he said to himself in his own language, before placing the vial, pestle and mortar and remaining ingredients into his poison kit.

He took some time to look around the room the only inhabitants of which he could see were tables, chairs and empty glasses. Feeling a sudden thirst he made his way over to the bar and seeing that the barkeep wasn't there helped himself to a beer, leaving some money by the beer tap he wondered over to the bounty board and took another look. He noted that the lycan bounty had disappeared whilst he had been working, he still didn't understand why the people here had such a hatred for lycans and why the lycans didn't fulfill their role as protectors as they did back at his home. Taking the ogre contract off the board Namia read it out loud to himself “Killing entire caravans and picking through their goods.”. Finally having a distinct purpose Namia decided to find Drystan and ask him if he could take the contract as his first work for the guild. Whilst grabbing his mask from the table where he had left it and reattaching his poison kit to his belt Namia felt that his hand was still sore, looking back at the palm of his hand he saw that the top layers of his skin had flaked off revealing raw reddened skin, he smiled to himself the witches recipes were the greatest gift his village could have given him. Slowly climbing the stairs on his way to Drystan's office Namia could swear he could smell dog.

Namia walked through the open door of the captains office contract in hand “Captain I would like to take the ogre contract!” he said loudly in his heavily accented english, before realising that there was a small crowd of people already in the room including the dog he smelled earlier. Feeling embarrassed he quickly fell silent and stepped to the side of the room giving a clumsy salute to the captain, revealing his spiked forearm to those present.
