Bio

Hey I'm Kori.

I like food, lazying around, procrastinating on papers, sitting on my computer, browsing reddit, playing league, and spending time with my pet rabbit, bunny stew.

I generally dislike long periods of outdoors, no internet and/or slow internet, constant badgering via truckload of nephews and nieces, responsibility, and people who don't understand how proper spelling and grammar works, despite roleplaying for several years. I mean, I'm indifferent to small mistakes, but when people can't comprehend that they're using a comma instead of a period, it MAKES ME WANT TO BASH THEIR HEAD IN WITH A HARDCOVER OXFORD DICTIONARY!

Whatever was happening now, Katewyn wasn't very interested in. The ginger female with the sword was interesting, perhaps. She could try to know her later. The same feeling extended to a few other people, but right now she just wished to go to sleep. It was similar to the start of hunting games. There were great speeches, and everyone saying "Hello!" to each other, and it bored her to death. She had nearly zoned out, but the signing of papers caught her attention. It had taken her awhile to flip through all of it, for you could never know where it might say "Sign this, and your fortune goes to me!" There were a few more people now, a dwarf included. The stench was quite aggravating, but she'd have to bear it.

"If it's alright with you," She said, addressing the captain, "May I go explore the ship? I'm not one for introductions."
I'm trying to figure out how I should make Katewyn into a bad character. Everyone seems so nice and cheery, I'd love to ruin the good mood. It ( for me ) would be really interesting to have an anti hero.
Alright everyone, the IC is out! http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/64846/posts/ooc I'll wait a day, or two, or more, depending on how quickly the applications come in. Thanks for showing interest :D
It started with a woman. Not just any woman, but the princess of Svilgard. The
princess was an extraordinarily beautiful person. Her blond hair was said to shine
like the sun, and her blue eyes were deep as the Ocean. Her skin was flawless, her
body slender, but best of all was her heart.

She started receiving marriage and courtship request at the tender age of thirteen.
All we denied by her wise father, but when she reached the age of sixteen, she only
grew in popularity. All desired her, and all presented their gifts. Diamonds, jewels, a
castle even, were presented to her. The most valuable marriage offer was from the
prince of Tarkeos. Tarkeos was an even larger kingdom than Svilgard! His offer was
his kingdom, yet she denied him. He was an ugly man inside, and in a fit of rage he
spirited the princess away.

Naturally, her father wished her back. The elderly king of Tarkeos, not wishing a
war, agreed to punish his son, and return the princess. Yet when the princess was
returned, she was found dead. Sword and dagger wounds had punctured her body,
and she had not been able to fight back. The war began soon afterwards. Many
countries joined in with Svilgard, wishing to have a share in the downfall of Tarkeos.

Presently, the war has been going on for over five years. Both kingdoms are
desperate the end the feud, yet neither will surrender. They have now started hiring
mercenaries to fight their battles, and that is where you will come in.
No, this is not your typical fantasy classes. This is simply a few ideas on what you
might want to start your character out with.

#1 - A mercenary. You can be a hulking brute, carrying your waraxe, stained with
the blood of innocents. You could be an elegant and quick swordsman, with your
blade dashing to and fro. You could be a skilled archer, able to quickly dispatch your
foes from a distance. You have many opportunities to choose what you shall do.

#2 - Hedge knight. A penniless soldier, a ruined lord, that is what you are. You were
formerly under the good graces of your lord, but some act cost you disgrace. You
now have more honor than a mercenary, but are near the same rank. If you
somehow commit an act of great courage, you will earn respect from a lord, which
may grant you a title again.

#3 - Spymaster. One might think of a warrior bringing victory to a battle, but it is
really a spy. Bringing word and news from other men, spies can easily deliver
information that can turn the tide of a battle. They are also used as assassins.

#4 - Lord, or Mercenary commander. This will happen only if enough people apply.
You have authority over other soldiers. You can choose to do as you please,
supporting whichever side you wish. This is not a difficult position to understand.

#5 - A lady. Though this isn't really a class, I will quickly explain how females will
work out in Guts. There are roughly four female positions - A lady, a mercenary, and
a temptress. A lady manages her household, and she has some power over other
Lords. For example, if PLAYER1 is the lady of Lord PLAYER2, she can ask him to
support PLAYER3 in his goal. Secondly, a female mercenary . . . Is the same as a male
mercenary. Both male and female MUST BE REALISTIC. You will not be running
around with two massive axes. You will not a slender, lithe female but somehow be
able to take a sword to your stomach, or lift a battleaxe. That's all I ask. Finally,
there is a temptress. Temptress's are like the female spies. They can kill and steal
information, but also attempt to influence a lord's decision in bed. For example,
PLAYER1, a temptress, asks PLAYER2, a lord, to help PLAYER3. They don't have as
much power as a lady in that area.

--QUEST!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Depending on your position, I will give various people various duties. A mercenary
group may be assigned to ambush a convoy, and a temptress may be assigned to
murder a Lord. I will be controlling most of the high up characters ( Kings,
spymaster, etc. ) to ensure that there's no silly stuff :p

Finally, how do battles work? I love this idea. I hope you like it too! Basically, GROUP1
AND GROUP2 are fighting. I will use a random number generator. If 1 wins, GROUP1
wins, but if 2 wins, GROUP2 wins. Lords, ladies, spymasters, EVERYONE can influence
a battle. If a spy kills a Lord for group1, group1 will gain a point. Therefore, it shall
be two numbers for GROUP1 and one number for GROUP2. Does this make sense? :)
If it does not, just say so in the comments. Every evening I will post a battle report
based on how the odds were that day.
Now that you know the facts, here is the application format! :)

I'm in! Also do I sense inspiration from Berserk?

Sort of. I wanted to do a pure medieval roleplay ( Meaning no fantasy elves and stuff like that. ) and I like Guts from Berserk. So yeah, got some inspiration from that.

Interested. Would like some details on womens roles, are female knights a thing, can you be a Lady with her own House etc.?

Female knights ARE a thing but you have to be realistic. Ex: You aren't going to be a beautiful, lithe female warrior who can jump around and swing a broadsword. A knight can't be weak, they're going to have to be tough build. There are going to be "Classes" in a way, but not in the usual fantasy way. ( I'll explain. ) I'm nearly done with the OOC post, so I'll make sure to explain all of that. ( I don't want to cut off people who want to roleplay as a female and a knight. )
Thanks for the positive response. ( :p ) I'm really excited to actually be making a roleplay with people actively posting, the forums I used to use had only a few active posters.

I'll be working on a detailed backstory, character apps, and stuff like that. Bear with me for a few hours / a day or so. :)
"I'm afraid I didn't understand a word you just said, sir." Katewyn was addressing the man attired as some sort of pirate. "Is it a variant of English? It sounds quite odd to my ears." Then she turned to Aria and Maithien. "My name is Katewyn, professional hunter and tracker. . . There isn't a beast on this world that can escape me." She added proudly. While this was not actually 100% true, she had assisted in a hunt of every known creature, so she felt she had earned the title.

She slowly studied the people set before her. The girl who had just spoken, Aria, seemed nice enough. She was some sort of swordsman, though Katewyn couldn't be sure. Her clothing was interesting. Bright pants and colors, and some sort of corset, though it looked like half of it had been removed. Still, who was Katewyn to judge? Long ginger hair adorned her head, and her smile was bright and warm.

She ignored studying the captain as two other figures came around to the dock. The first girl looked quite young, probably a young adult. She was carrying a large suitcase, and when she spoke, Katewyn could simply not hear her. Her attention flitted to the next person, and then the smile she had been wearing on her face quickly vanished, replaced by a frown. Here was one of those animal creatures. It had been to good to hope for none of them on the ship, but still. . . Ignoring the animal, she turned back to the captain.
Katewyn sauntered down the dock with ease. She was wearing her fur trenchcoat over a lovely Dirndl. Really, it was quite useless wear. She couldn't run or move properly if needed, but luckily this was just a cruise. Until they reached wherever they were going, she wasn't going to do much hunting.

She stole a gaze at the dockworkers. This was obviously a new area in the city - Instead of the usual bustling around, and selling of prizes, it was quiet compared to the older docks in Riviqin. The dockworkers were some canine sort of breed. They were furry and had dog-like jaws. Quite awful creatures. "At least," she hoped, "I won't have to endure those wretched things." It was possible, yes, but that would only lead to fighting. . . . .

There was a single man near the ship she was going to board. The Compass, it was called. An ugly banner stood attached to, a bright contrast of colors.

"Dear Mr. Maithien, I presume?" She said, striding toward him. At least the captain was human! "This is quite a lovely ship you have, and when will we depart?"
Well, there will be an overall plot. What I plan to do is instead of having everyone sticking together as a party, everyone has a separate quest / mission they have to do which will advance the plot slowly. Does that answer your question?

In case I read it wrong, I will be making a much more detailed backstory. That'll come when I actually have people who would apply :p
