Biography
Born and raised in the Earth Kingdom, and the middle child in a very large family, Ku was the first bender in over two generations.
At seventeen she bid her parents farewell and left home in hopes of mastering her element, but while she was gone a tragedy struck and most her family was killed.
Only herself and her eldest brother, a soldier in the Earth Kingdom's army, were left alive.
A year of grieving followed and Ku found herself in a secluded village of non-benders.
Hiding her ability allowed her to assimilate into the culture and she lived in peace for a handful of years before hearing rumor that the Avatar had been found.
She sent word to her brother and the letter back confirmed what she had heard.
Determined to redeem herself after the death of her family she has been looking for the Avatar ever since, hoping to provide some form of protection on his journey to stop The Order.

Defined as not simply the fear of darkness, but the fear of what you cannot see in the dark; that there is something in the dark that intends to do you harm. Wren's phobia developed when he was young before his mother abandoned him. He often slept in the dark closet in their one bedroom and the sounds coming from the other side of the closet door drew vivid nightmares from his darkest dreams.

Backstory
Born to a young woman who had no business raising a child, and brought up on the streets of a big city after being abandoned at ten years old, Wren has spent much of his life on the run. Running from his mistakes and responsibilities. At fifteen he found himself amongst a bad group of folks and soon landed in a juvenile detention center.

He was released after six months and came out a very different young man. He found a job and made an honest attempt to turn his life around. That lasted for almost a year and when times got tough he returned to his less than desirable ways.

He found out about the P.H.O.B.I.A. Project through an old coworker and expressed interest. He was soon swept into the world of science and genetic engineering, and, although his phobia still causes him more than a few problems, he has been honing his skills ever since.

Defined as an abnormal fear of water, this phobia was initially triggered by a near-death experience on a boating trip when Maddie was young. Since the incident she has developed a great fear of large bodies of water, mainly oceans and dark or murky water.

-Ability to see clearly in deep water, where others would need some kind of light i.e. a night vision of sorts
-Ability to manipulate liquid water (not ice, snow, or things which contain water, just pure water)

Raised in an average sized town, in an average looking house, with an average seeming family, Maddie always wanted to be more than just average. School was easy for her; she had friends and got good grades, but it all seemed very hum-drum.
When she was younger and her father was around life wasn't nearly so boring. Sadly when she was a mere five years old her father and brother drowned while fishing on the lake in the backyard.

All three of them had been in the boat, and Maddie's brother Andy pulled his lifejacket off and gave it to her before sinking down into the darkness. It was hours before the paramedics arrived, as her father's house was over an hour from the nearest town, and Maddie was on the shore when they arrived, huddled in a ball, her eyes red and puffy though she had long since run out of tears.

The accident spurred up years of trauma for Maddie, and while the vibrant memory of that day faded into a dull ache, the fear stayed alive as ever.

When her mother remarried Maddie got another brother, Tim, and a stepdad. Neither of those things changed much of anything in her life, but that was the way of things. Nothing really altered her way of life.

She eventually grew into a young woman who could be described as a people person in a sense. Her charisma came from her mother, ever the charmer, and though she remained erring on the side of caution in many cases she remained optimistic that her life would amount to more.

And now it has.

@Majoras End Hey! I'm still very interested (I commented on your interest check) and I'm in the process of character creation, however none of the current phobias listed are jumping out at me right now.
Ideally, I'd like to use a phobia related to something I'm actually afraid of and was wondering what your thoughts on Aquaphobia (an abnormal fear of water) and nyctophobia (fear of the dark)?

For Aquaphobia I was thinking some of the abilities could be the ability to see and breath underwater, and possibly water manipulation.
For Nyctophobia the abilities could be not only seeing in the dark, but the ability to cause others to hallucinate or believe there is something in the darkness that they can't see since the fear is not necessarily being afraid of the dark, but being afraid of what is in the dark.
