@Jbcool So it's decided then that the Minotaur is a very old ship that's been recently refitted? Cause just because it's an Excelsior doesn't mean it dates back to the time of the Enterprise-B. That class of ship has formed the backbone of the Federation Fleet for more than a hundred years after its initial design so they can't all be from the original line.
@RumikoOhara Where does it say in the OP that the USS Minotaur was an Excelsior class ship?
@RumikoOhara Unless we're those guys that sit on the bridge, operate the terminals, never have a line of dialogue and about half the time die to illustrate the threat of the current bad guys then as bridge crew we would be department heads.

Out of curiosity which version of the Star Trek uniform are we going to be using? I was personally a fan of the Voyager and early DS9 design but I suppose the First Contact uniform would be considered cannon for this point in the timeline.
@Jbcool That makes a bit more sense, but the Rank section of the CS limits you to the ranks between and including Ensign and Lieutenant Junior Grade which are awfully low ranks for senior bridge officers. I think the lowest for the main bridge crew was Lieutenant Commander.
@Jbcool We're the bridge crew but also just graduated from the academy? Is Star Fleet severely short staffed? I remember that happening twice. Once was cause Picard felt guilty getting some annoying kid's dad killed so he let him be a bridge crew ensign and the other was a trainee crew that took over after the overseeing officers were killed. It seems sort of irresponsible to place people with no field experience in command level roles. The fate of the Valiant should attest to how badly wrong that can go.
I have tried so hard not to make a comment that might seem negative but "Are the Klingons now Spider People?"
It's as if the crappy Pajama Uniform from Star Trek the Movie is trying to ruin the franchise

I know that TNG changed their look as well but obviously it was better thought out

When they changed it between TOS and the Star Trek Motion Picture it was cause budget and makeup had improved to the point that they could make the Klingon's look how they wanted rather than having them look like an amalgamation of eastern ethnicity. This just feels like they're changing the look for the sake of changing the look.

I'm tentatively interested in option 2 as long as we're not drawing any inspiration from the Reboot franchise and our Klingons still look like Klingons rather than looking like Babylon 5's Drazi.
Prince of Seraphs

No and yes.

Wait, please tell me that doesn't mean we're using the Star Trek Discovery redesign for Klingons.
@HueMan I wouldn't say ruined. Force Awakens was definitely uninspired and a lesser version of New Hope but laid enough groundwork that the following movies could be quite good. Let's face it after the beating the Prequels took Force Awakens was basically an audience check to make sure people were still interested in Star Wars.
