@Lady Sven Thanks ! You sound as excited as I am with this RP. The thing that brought me to this site was a RP like this ( someone told me to come here to RP if I want ) but RP is taking way too long to start and when I saw your interest check. I was...controlled by it :) Really made me want to RP.

How far is Conra from those "wildlands of the world " ?

Edit : And just a quick question. Are Lizardmen a thing here ? I mean do they exist ?

Conra is actually not supposed to have many wildlands. The majority of the central part of the country is plains and framlands. Has you move south, you'll find thick clumps of woods and more rivers as the terrain becomes more hilly and the climate get colder. There are more Wild places here as the population gets less dense.

Due to the Dark Magic being used by the wizard at Sarah's himetown, Monsters have been growing more aggressive and have been appearing more. Communication has been troubled between Conra and Ballion in recent years due to the growing threat. Conra believes the Ballion army is fighting the Monster's from the other side and will put a stop to the problem.

*edit* Completely missed the edit. Lizardmen... Hmm, yeah, to extent I think they can be prevalent. Though probably very much looked down on due to their appearance and possible cold-bloodedness. Though between the very Human-centered Ballion and the ocean, the chances of a tribe on the Conran mainland is very unlikely. If Lizardmen were to come to Conra, it would have to be from overseas.
I'll fix it later. Damn phone capitalizing things.......

You concept of blood magic is acceptable but I wouldn't call it Dark or even give it a Dark Affinity. The inherent traits of the vampires and their magic could be considered a tribal magic since it would be unique to just them. And since they aren't actually vampires I don't really have much else to say on the matter. What you have so far is good! I like the idea of having some traits of some maybe unwise decisions in their family's history.
Aw damn! The
didn't work. That looks derp as shit ;-; I'll fix it later. My phone lost 20% to that post

*edit* IT WORKED HERE???
First of all, ho-ly crap. Thank you all so much for the interest and jumping right into conversing about your characters! To be totally hinest, when I woke up, I was a little overwhelmed at first, but all that has fueled my excitement and inspiration. I can't wait to get started!

Swordsman

@Dark Light Awesome! I really like that character and I don't have anything that stands out as unfit for this world. His desire to grow in swordplay gives me a few ideas already!

@Rune_Alchemist I will answer these questions as if I haven't read the rest of the thread.

Firstly, thank you for the Welcome! Secondly, of course you are free to join!

As for the races, personally, you could make an argument for any race. Personally I would avoid changlings or cursed monsters as most Civilized people are scared of and hate monsters. This feeds a little into some racism toward goblinoid races, like Orcs, Trolls, and Goblins. They get a lot of crap because of their skin color or facial bone structures.

Magic.... I don't want to smother creativity in magic. So I have been thinking about its restrictions. Constant use of Magic or use of strong magic will make the mage tired. Conditions for good magic casting is being well fed, healthy, and well rested.
Classes of magic.... Elemental is what I'll say. So like, magic falls under certain elements. The basic elements I won't really explain. Fire, Ice, Air, Earth, and Lightning (it's an element). Not many people can easily use mixed elements. They tend to specialize in one or two. Some other elements I'd like to include are Kinetic, Which controls physical movement and force. Levitation and movement of items falls under kinetic. Holy magic, healing and repels those decidedly unholy. Holy magic can be learned by anyone gifted for magic. It heals, lights the way, and for the most advanced, teleport (though the spell for teleportation is a guarded secret of Ballion). Those who wield holy magic are not by any means instantly a good guy, also anyone tucked with Dark Magic would be hurt by holy magic. The only magic seen as inherently evil is Dark Magic. Control of the shadows. This magic kills most casters right away wth one known exception currently terrorizing Sarah's hometown. Most monsters are touched by Dark magic and are immune to its effects. I will go into more detail on Dark Magic in the story as it's not a widely known element.

I hope that helps.

This is it :)
I hope it's ok :)

He is brilliant @Ashevelendar! As for naming weapons, I could see many or tribes doing that very thing. I really like what you have done and I think he will be a great addition to the cast!

Hello @Lady Sven, I would like to join the RP. This character is a member of a crusading guild known as the Audrian Order, which I will explain more in-depth below.

Wow. Very devout in the extermination of all that is dark. And the bit of their chapter houses spreading through the world is very plausible as well. I could see them having a firm seat in Belwind as it would most likely have travellers from afar. Conra would not turn them away but I am sure many would see the Order negatively and just as many would see them positively. I definitely welcome this new addition to the cast!@TJByrum

I feel it is important to note that Monsters are generally uncommon except in the wildlands of the world. Conra is apparently being overrun. While many of the characters have experience in fighting/hunting, monsters will still prove dangerous.

Final side notes, vampirism in this world isn't all glorious. They have increased healing abilities and are stronger and faster than the average of their base race. However, sun won't burn them and holy magic won't outright kill them unless they have personally tampered with Dark Magic.

Vampires are local legend in most places and aren't openly accepted. I mean, they drink blood! Common folk would never be accepting of that. Whether it be human blood or livestock, it is a danger to most villages and towns and they don't want anything threatening that.

Uhm... thank you all, seriously. I am so happy with all I have seen so far!
Yes please! Post characters here first.

I changed the name a little for now.

I'll go more in depth into Magic when I can be on my pc again. If anyone has immediate questions about it however, just message me and I'll answer the best I can!
The OOC!!!!

@Dark Light@Ashevelendar@sakurasan

Sorry for the wait and the hour of which it's finally finished! I'm look forward to this story to unfold~

Conra Chronicles
Encroaching Darkness

The Kingdom of Conra is growing dark. Monsters are appearing more frequently and villages are being abandoned. Winter approaches and just before the Winter Season Festival, the Queen was found dead upon her throne in the most grizzly of ways. Her head had been removed and placed upon her lap, and word was spreading that her white-gold crown was missing.

The result of this tragedy caused many travelers to form convoys and return to their homes. Refugees camped together in the outskirts of the city, helping fortify sections of the city not behind a wall. The guardsmen were on high alert and causing hassle to all non-locals.

A young woman, who was tasked with saving her town from darkness threatening the land elsewhere, would play a big part in the events to unfold for the Kingdom of Conra. Increasing dangers on the road is weakening the unity of Conra and it's people are left with little to hope for.

This is the story of a group who rally around a young woman trying to save her town from an evil Wizard who is believed to have been connected to the death of the Queen due to interlopers found at the Castle. More to be added as story develops.

Rules
For now, everyone will have one character. PM me for special requests.
Outside of Character, be nice and don't fight.
In Character, foul language may be used but don't cross 'the line'. The Forums have rules for this sort of thing.
Don't control an other player's character.
Don't be afraid to question me or add lore! This world is pretty much a blank slate.

My Character

Hum.

@Lady Sven
Hmm dreaming up character concepts already ;)
Should we wait for the OOC before posting them?

I suppose I could do that. It'll be in Casual. I'll post a link and ping everyone who has expressed interest thus far.
Okay, okay. I set times for myself and failed you all famously. I'm sorry fr letting everyone down! Hopefully this character sheet of mine helps make sense of the skeleton I posted above in the original post. I'll update the Original Post if needed, but hopefully everything will go into an OOC soon if you guys are still down for playing!

Her travel cloak is leather, with the inside lined in fur. Under her cloak is a plain dark flax tunic and dark grey cloth pants. She wears leather boots as well.

Name
Sarah Smith

Race
Human

Age
17

Personality
She is kindhearted, Generous, and Modest. Despite her actions, she isn't naive. Her weaknesses are more along her lack of experience above all else.
She likes to eat. While she doesn't actively pig out, given the chance she could. Sarah will be very aware of missed meals. This trait caused her the occasional issue while traveling on her own.
She hates alcohol. The smell, the taste, those who gorge themselves on it.
She is terrified of oversleeping. It sounds silly but she can sleep pretty heavily and she is afraid of not waking up in time to save her family. Sleeping curses and spells are her worst nightmare.
Sarah's driving goal is to save her family and town from an evil wizard. Even though success seems unlikely, remembering what she was fighting for has often given her the strength to continue on.

Backstory
The daughter of an old Ballion Guardsman turned Smith, Sarah grew up in the small town of Levital on the southern Ballion/Conran border. While their taxes were Ballion, they traded and worked with Conrans the most. Sarah had a pretty easy life growing up. She helped out on farms and learned that people needed to work together in order to do something great. Sarah finds joy in making the lives of others better. She used to play sword fight with other kids in her town. One time she got hurt pretty bad, and while she was yelled at by her mother, her father stepped in and taught her some real moves, though nothing serious.

In the year of 920, a dark wizard came to town. At first he seemed like a kind and helpful man, but after just a month it was discovered he was experimenting on people in the town. Once word got out, he started capturing as many people as he could. When Sarah's family was endangered, she felt she had to do something and stood up to the Wizard. Of course she hadn't been the first but something about her made the Wizard pause in his actions. He decided to give her a near impossible task, and told her she would have three winters to finish it. Sarah took on her father's sword and left her town in a hurry, not thinking about the details of what he asked her to do. And that's how her journey began.

Sarah is a mercenary of sorts. She has traveled for a year to get to the Conran Capital City. Here she found what she needed, and was getting ready to head back to her village as the second winter since her quest started was setting in. She was used to the cold, so she didn't plan on it slowing her down. 1 Year was left on her time limit.

Current Events
Sarah is doing work for the outlying villages of Conran's capital. She is trying to find a group to travel south with. With ice creeping up from the southern plains, she figured food would be scarce and having a group would help the time pass a little quicker. The odd jobs she was doing was also to help people prepare for the coming cold and helping others fortify their homes after the recent assassination of the Queen.

Skills
Lightly trained in Ballion sword fighting. They use a special fighting style that plays specifically on the strengths of a human. She would hardly classify a journeyman of the style but her time on the road has help her build instincts in a pinch.
She can build small traps for rodent game. And she can cook it over a fire!
She is physically fit and healthy. Not really a skill but she works out. She knows she isn't very big and makes up for it with good fitness and endurance.
She is cold resistant.

Gear
Light leather outerwear. It's layered to protect against medium-sized animals and monsters.
Fur-lined leather boots. Her feet will never feel cold with these on.
Ballion Guardsman Sword. An iron-made short sword balanced for best use by humans.
Carries a thick leather satchel with a magically charmed latch on the larger pocket. She stores money and other things in the smaller pocket.

Ect
I got nothing yet, but will add to this as we play along!
