Delaney trailed Anastasia off the ship, watching the chaos unfold. Most retreated into their homes or back to their ships if they had them, and a few had already disembarked. A great many confused and panicked people were on the docks as more shots were heard ringing out in the distance, which were drawing ever closer. He would have guessed that they were nearing the castle, but he couldn't be sure.”Everyone! The attack is inland! To the boats!” He yelled, raising his sword in the air to command attention. Some stopped and did just that, others took no heed, but he hoped to have been heard by at least some of those who rushed yet inland.

Pebble went to one of the wider roads on the edge of the slums,and saw a great many people scattering in all directions. He saw a brunette woman who seemed to have some directive or idea where she was going, unlike most of the crowd, so he tried to catch up with her. ”What's going on??” He asked, trying to keep pace.

Captain Delaney had been at the helm until late afternoon, when they finally came to port in Merlian. He sent most of his men out to get supplies while he stayed on board, knowing full well he wasn't wanted in this kingdom. He didn't want to chance being spotted by a guard or a royalist do-gooder; not because he couldn't take them, but because he would rather catch up on sleep than cause a scene.
A cool breeze came from the sea, coaxing Ulysses out of his cabin and up onto the quarterdeck. He was just beginning to drift off when the first shots rang in his ears. ”Anastasia, what was that?”Captain Delaney yelled after her as she left the ship, assuming by her reaction that she knew what was going on. Hardly waiting for a response, he leapt up and followed her to the dock, clutching the hilt of his cutlass as he ran.

Pebble had little success polishing shoes that day. He was slumped outside an inn, flagging down anyone who passed asking if he could shine their shoes; he'd been at it since early morning and so far had only had three takers. He stared spitefully at the six copper coins in his dirty palm. ”Hardly even enough for bread and broth.” Over the bustle of the harbor and it's residents he'd hardly taken noticed of the cannon, but it was hard not to notice the blooded screams that followed.

Name: Captain Ulysses Delaney

Role:Captain

Personality: Ulysses is charismatic but stern authority figure. He loves having power over a situation, and has been known to be very controlling. He’s strongly against the royal family and openly resents having to protect them on his boat. He is undyingly loyal to his crew, and sympathetic to the common man.

Bio(Optional): Little is known about Ulysses. He was born to an extremely poor family, and he worked his way up to being the feared captain of an infamous pirate ship. He was fortunate enough to have been resting on his ship during the disaster, though he left to try and save more people before escaping.

Hobbies: reading and drawing star maps, writing

Other: He’s bi! He’s not particularly open about his sexuality(nor does he have the words for it), but he doesn’t go out of his way to hide it, either. He has a thing for muscly men and fuller women; he’s got a preference, lol.

Role: civillian

Personality: Pebble is wary of most people he doesn't know. He’s prone to silence, typically, but will respond when spoken to unless he feels threatened. Despite his quiet nature, he’s a young man of charity and action; he is usually kind to other children and has been known to give gifts to those who are kind to him.

Bio(Optional): Pebble has been an orphan street urchin for as long as he can remember. He was raised communally by a handful of kind people in the slums near the harbor, but has never had anything close to a home or family. Pebble spent some of his childhood in and out of an orphanage, but was beaten and escaped frequently. He’s very suspicious of and even hostile toward royal guards, as the authorities under the crown would take him to back the orphanage. However, he idolizes pirates because they were free and powerful, two things he wanted more than anything. Though he usually gets a few coins from panhandling and shining shoes, he’s resorted to stealing more than a few times. Over time Pebble got to know some pirates that came to the kingdom by shining their shoes and eagerly doing other chores and errands for them. Pebble was digging through some trash on the docks during the disaster, and ran towards the most intact boat he could find.

Hobbies: shining shoes, whittling, fixing things, picking pockets, pretending to be a pirate

Other: He knows (or at least recognizes) most pirates and former guards on the ship, but likely wouldn’t recognize the royal family.
