Bio

Call me Laser. I run on NZDT and Wellington coffee.

Actually, that's a lie, I don't run at all if I can help it.

Always keen for new RPs, books, music, recipes, and conversation. I'm occasionally funny and will tell you the same 7 stories over and over - what else do you need from a friend?

@alexfangtalon I like it! I imagine a lot of the future drawings are not terribly useful, but occasionally they predict major incidents. Lots of nights of "the pasta salad in the cafeteria will give everyone food poisoning tomorrow" type predictions, with the occasional "there will be a fatal accident tomorrow afternoon involving a black truck and a red minivan at the intersection of Jones Drive and Cherry Street". Do you imagine her drawings will show one possible future (giving our characters a chance to change it), or are they inevitably true in one way or another?
@pennyprincess44 Accepted! Hypersensitive hearing is a cool power :) Go ahead and add your CS to the Characters tab.
@Garn Solozari Accepted, pending a completed CS :)
@Laser Kiwi Hmm, questions. Never been good at thinking them up but I do have one.

So, as I was looking at this the character that popped into my head was a girl who is almost entirely mute. Maybe on an extremely good day she could say a word or two to family or very close friend. Tends to use an app on her phone or writing to communicate (does know ASL) with others. First question is if a character that has troubles communicating with others is fine?

As for her knack it’d be art related. Since she can’t talk she kind of secluded herself for her formative years and took to drawing, painting, and etc. So, I was thinking her knack would be something along those lines maybe a little similar to how your character is with cooking. As for gift though I am completely stumped. I kind of want something that can tie in to who she is or maybe her art? But I only just saw this today so I may come up with something in my sleep. Dunno. But wanted to make sure that a mute character was fine before continuing down that road first.

I think a mute character is just fine as long as you can keep her actively involved with the plot - her actions and nonverbal communication can be fine to push things forward and let her influence events.

A knack for art similar to Kal's or Val's would be really neat. Kal's deals more with how people perceive it, but a knack for picking up techniques or copying things exactly as she sees them could also be very cool.

Kenshi's idea for a banshee scream is really neat - you could do a couple of things with her voice, actually. Maybe something like a Siren, where she can hypnotise or suggest ideas but has to actually speak to use it? Or the ability to speak to certain animals? If her Gift ties in with her art she could be an Oracle of sorts, capable of drawing scenes from the future? Or maybe something like the cursed camera from Goosebumps, where she can draw cursed images that will cause bad things to happen to those depicted? I think there's a lot of potential with both voice and art related Gifts.
"The old man was right," Pandora said as soon as she stepped out of the bus. The sense of looming evil and dread had been growing ever since they turned off the highway onto the desolate, winding road up towards this place, and now they were near its epicenter. The doors seemed to her almost like the maw of some terrible beast, and they were about to step into the belly.

Despite that, the adrenaline pumping through her veins was more excitement than anxiety. She was with a group of capable and prepared people, people who believed her, and they were equipped with all the scientific and spiritual gear they could ever need. Clutching the crystal pendant around her neck, she took a calming breath and stepped forward, staring up at the darkened windows while the others started unloading. Lifting heavy stuff wasn't really her thing.

"This is the place, guys. I can feel it. We're finally going to prove that all this stuff is real," the young woman continued, talking more to herself than anyone in particular. The fame and fortune that would come with the discovery didn't really excite her, nor was she afraid of having to go back to waitressing - but the idea that she could prove once and for all that she was sane and special, not just some paranoid lunatic, was intoxicating.
@alexfangtalon Yes it is! :) Do you have any questions about the plot or the CS?
Is there room for one more student?

There sure is! Check out the proper RP (link is a couple of posts up) and ask any questions if you have them, or post your CS :)
Sweet, excited

Ditto!
@sassy1085 After you finish your CS Michelle should be able to join the group at Poor Yorick's, or even at a later date. :)
@Garn Solozari well everyone has to make their own choices, but in my experience actually doing things is the best way to get the hang of them. :) I'm pretty new here myself, so I'm down to learn together.
