Personality: Usually calm and rational, but can be very impulsive when provoked. Values intelligence over raw power. Likes to speak sarcastically, especiall when annoyed.
Powers or Abilities: He can control the gravitational field within 5 metres, measured from his heart. A large change drains his magicka rapidly, but levitating himself for hours straight is not a problem.
Equipment and Weapons: A large notebook with pages of incomprehensible handwriting that he claims to be mathematics notes.
Universe of origin: One very similar to our own, with the addition of an entirely new kind of energy. Discovered by physicists in the mid 19th century, the unknown energy was named 'magicka'. Despite the unfortunate occult aura, magicka seems to follow every established physical law. No reliable mechanism for harnessing magicka has been found, except for the few 'espers' born with the talent to do so, whose ability to use magicka is apparently determined by their grasp on the abstract art of mathematics.
Bio (leading up to death): Born in the exact year of the discovery of magicka, David Cliffwood had shown mathematical brilliance since his childhood. He got his professorship when he was only 22, and his nickname 'Prof' five minutes later. He invested most, if not all, of his time into research instead of his ability to influence gravity, of which he is the only known bearer.
Cause of death: Killed by an out of control automobile. His command over gravity is not strong enough to grant him sight of the future.

Job: Adventurer
Bio: Raised in a small and well-hidden orphanage near Falkreath, Felix had no knowledge of his parents whatsoever. He were told tales of the Dragonborn even before he saved the world by defeating Alduin, which fascinated the young boy in need of a hero. Determined to become an adventurer and one day meet the Dragonborn in person, he left the orphanage a year ago despite his loving caretaker's worry. The harsh life as a novice wanderer almost killed him multiple times, but he managed to stay alive and keep his kneecap intact. Having done his fair share of petty crimes to survive, Felix is now quite adept at lockpicking and pickpocket without being noticed. While he can use bows and one-handed weapons, he avoids them most of the time simply because he's not good at them. He is now staying in Riverwood.

Hello from a newbie

Hi everyone! I'm a random guy brought here by Google while searching for ways to role play online. I should say in advance that English isn't my native tongue, so please forgive (and remind) me if I sound strange or make silly mistakes.

As you can guess from the title, role playing is something new to me. I have a very crude idea of how a game is actually played, based on some youtube videos featuring some games and other introductory articles, but I've never played a game before. Naturally I'm looking for casual games for beginners.

I don't have a strong preference for certain kind of games, but I do like fantasy. A little bit of horror (maybe something Lovecraftian) and absurdity (the Kafkaesque type) would also be nice. Darker themes with more violence and gore are totally okay. Intelligent and rational characters are usually my favourite. (Not those cliche robot-like incapable-of-love ones, but just more analytically-minded.) It's simple super fun seeing them confront supernatural phenomena.

Maybe I should also say something about myself? I'm a maths student in a local university who also took a few physics courses. Hobbies include video games, anime and read/skim through a bunch of Wikipedia articles about just anything. I also read books, sometimes light novels sometimes more 'serious' literature. Also timezone is GMT+8.

That's about it I think. If you have time, please give this noob some suggestions about where to start.
