UUC Colony Ship: Broken Dawn, 28 Jumps from Alpha Earth (Two Days Prior to the Court Session) By the time the alarms were raised, it was already too late. The bulkheads sealed those that remained free from the parasite only bought them moments of extra terror as the one voice of the Vanguard echoed from those who the colonists once called friends and family. All beckoned them to be joined with them in the everlasting song of the grave.
Security forces opened fire with their small arms weapons, and they did manage to stop a few of the humanoid monstrosities in their tracks, however, their sigh of relief was short lived as these creatures rose up once more and the beating drum of the voice continued. Throughout the ship the screams soon became silent, as if lights slowly being turned off one at a time.
That was when the Vanguard itself emerged from the hanger bay, around it was the mucus like membrane structures that began to cast its foul web of corruption throughout the rest of the ship. Those bodies that were unfit for combat or other forms were to be melted down in these webs to become nutrients for the soon to be breed Pure Forms.
Now, the final step was to take the bridge.
Two Tank Pure Forms torn the sealed bulkhead clean from its placement and stormed the bridge. Though it seems that they were not required any more force than that. On the floor, with a gun dropped by his side and brain matter scattered on the opposite wall, a man in a white uniform, clearly the captain, had clearly taken the easy way out. This angered the Vanguard, without his brain intact, only fragments of knowledge would be able to be extracted. What was in this new universe that the Vanguard must watch out for, where were the prime targets to spread the son of the grave?!
Nevertheless, today was a victory. A ship with 2000 souls now joined in the song. Soon it will spread to other systems.
As the Flood forms began to search the bridge, a small holographic female emerged from her A.I dock, clearly frightened or at least was programmed to act that way scanned the room. Then see looked back at a Flood form that hovered over her, almost as if it were smiling gleefully.
“Who… what are you?” she asked, her synthetic voice crackling.
“We are known as the Flood.” The Vanguard’s voice projected from the Flood form as it placed its deformed hand onto the A.I dock. As it did so, the A.I female fell to he knees and began to flash red. Giving out a scream of genuine pain. “And you will tell us all we need to know.”
