One of my first questions is the nature of the conflict. When reading over the OP, I can see the mention of an RSG and the imperial forces being in a state of cival war. However, I don't see any mention of the RSG's origins. From reading, it looks like they possibly come from Tormin, but they could very well be rebels from Avenase. Just getting some clarification of what exactly my characters origin would be (for example, a Avenese soldier/officer that defected to the RSG in order to escape the oppression of the tyrant).

Now on that topic, I'm ok with my character being born in Tormin as a lancer. That being said, would the culture be conducive to dragoon-esque training? Not to say the character would start out as a dragoon, but with it being my favorite class in nearly rendition of FF- it's something I'd like to end up at (or near).

As a side note, I'm getting a very heavy Ramza vibe from the way the protagonist is explained in the OP.
Possibly interested if you're still accepting. Just reading over everything atm to get an idea on what the setting is like.
I'll be posting sometime tomorrow.

Length of post doesn't really bother me, but try and be a bit more descriptive. What exactly did your character say? What attitude did he have when he contacted Liam? I know this is casual, so it's fine atm, but next time give a little more for people to work with- ok?
Sorry, but out of fear of this slowly dying, I think it would be wise to get things moving at pace once more.
Varrus Volkanon

Varrus sighed heavily as he lifted a hand to bridge of his nose, pinching it between his index finger and thumb. It was one thing to not be able to solve a riddle like this, but it was another when lives were possibly at stake- not excluding his own. It was then that his vision fell to the engraving as his hand returned to the pommel at his side.

"Well, we know it has something to do with the torches and where we began. We should make our way back and examine the area," He stated, turning back to face the way they came as he began to trek past those about him. He continued on in silence as his vision focused forward... In his mind however, his thoughts would begin to pour over the information given to him. The speculation of the others reinforce what he originally thought about the torches, but the remainder of the riddle still evade him.

Or should he say, partial riddle. The third partition merely said embrace, and the forth spoke of something all consuming. His first venture was death, but death has no mass... It cannot fill a hole. A hole? At this, Varrus paused a moment, looking over his shoulder back to the inscription for a moment as he paused in his steps. Something unlike the light that can fill a hole.

At this notion, Varrus looked between those in the group around him, "Something unlike the Light that puts an end to laughter and fills holes. At first I was thinking of something with mass, but what if I'm wrong?" His gaze began to flicker to the unlit areas of the room as his brain began to formulate a plan, "I think the answer is closer than we think. Light is all encompassing, yes, but it can be seen and usually bolsters the mood of people within it. However, it's opposite can bring fear and terror to some, while swallowing all within it's reach. Not to mention the cliche wording of the third and forth phrase if I'm right, but..." Varrus paused a moment as he turned back towards the original torches, though making no movement, "What if the answer is darkness?"
Liam

As the morning continued on, still no news had arisen about the crows and the nature of their stay within the city. However, this didn't seem to dampen the mood of the denizens, who continued about their normal lives as if oblivious of the changes. Liam didn't seem to concerned either, strolling along the sidewalk with cigarette in hand and a smile on his face. Having been left to his own devices last night, he found him patrolling with Matt long into the night before calling it quits once everything seemed quiet. Even now things seemed to be progressing smoothly despite Matt's paranoia about the crows.

'I'm not going to let it bother me,' Liam thought to himself, lifting a hand as he placed the paper cylinder to his lips, inhaling the plume as his eyes focused on the approaching cafe, 'I wonder if she's here this morning?' With this simple thought, his smiled widened as he began to recall his interactions with Sam the day before. She certainly was an interesting creature, leaving quite an impact... Literally and Figuratively as he felt his muscles ache from the blow she had inflicted while enraged. Shaking his head as he tried to dismiss the thoughts, his eyes fell upon the door of the cafe as he snuffed out his cigarette in the provided ashtray.

It was then, another caught his eye. It was a burly man, standing just shorter than Liam himself though his overall form stood heavy with muslce. His face spattered with grey stubble that contrasted his jet black hair, his arms covered in similarly hued strands. Overall, he was an older man, probably in his mid to late 30s as he stood with a cigar wedged between his lips. His eyes met with Liam's, a harsh shade of blue that seemed to contrast his darker follicles. With a charming smile and a gravel like voice, he spoke as he stepped forward towards the door. "Pardon me, buddy." He announced, stepping past Liam with cigar still lit as he stepped into the cafe. Liam did not protest, rather he grew curious of the man, stepping quickly in behind him as he stood to the man's flank.

????

'Ah, Garrett! Glad to see you alive and well. Heard you had a rather rough visit from Megan last night. Hopefully she didn't harm you.' A sharp chuckle could be heard as he paused but a moment, 'Too much anyways. Still, we have business to attend to. There is a high-rise apartment complex in downtown Darkwell. From what I've heard, there was quite an altercation that took place- though no police were involved. I find this turn of events intriguing, and I'd like to have you scout out the area as I pay the complex a visit. I don't expect there to be any fighting, unfortunately, at this remark, the voice seemed honestly disappointed as Garrett could hear a heavy sigh through the speakers on his end, 'Megan will meet you there. Till then!' And with that, the line went dead.
