Raelynn Callahan

Name: Raelyn "Rae" Callahan

Age: 27

Gender: Female | She/Her

Notoriety: -5 (Neutral-Chaotic)

Appearance: Long red curly hair, fair skin, slender athletic build, 167 cm tall. Generally seen wearing darker, muted colors. She prefers to keep a rather plain appearance. Not much about her stands out other than her hair. Hazel eyes.

Personality: Rae will do anything for the right price, and she will make sure it is done right. Her personal philosophy devalues those around her and removes the cumbersome hindrances of empathy and regret. She firmly believes that after the series of events that has led her to where she is, the world has gone to shit and there is little, if any, redeemable quality of humanity as a whole.
She typically retains a calm-cool-and-collected disposition but can also be very cruel to those who do not appease her. She is highly analytical, constantly scrutinizing for weaknesses in those around her and deciding how she would exploit those weaknesses if the need were to arise.
Provided there is a big enough payout involved, Rae will execute any task she is given without question, and in that way she could come across as subservient. However, that could not be further from the truth; She is very stubborn outside of her work and at times tends to overcompensate when attempting to prove herself to others as more than just a harmless little girl-- although at times this assumption can work in her favor.
Despite what seems to be a very abrasive personality, those who get on her good side could not ask for a closer ally. She protects those few that she does care about fiercely. While holding a lot of personal cynicism, she is still quick to cheer up those around her when spirits are low-- even if only to avoid being brought down herself. Her sense of humor can only be described as deadpan, and she is highly amused by simply screwing with people for the sake of screwing with them. Unfortunately, she is not always entirely skilled in deciding when to apply this, and it has often gotten her into trouble.

Bio: From a very young age, Rae was forced to fend for herself entirely. In order to survive, she started off pick-pocketing, and initially was terrible at it. After several nights spent in jail cells and taking a few batons to the head, she eventually began to pick up on stealth and situational awareness; Always taking in her surroundings, observing every camera, every pair of eyes, and every piece of technology in sight and potentially out of sight. It was a process of trial and error, and she is lucky she lived to make it past her teenage years with the amount of trouble that she got herself into over the years.
One law enforcement officer, however, saw the value in her skillset and enlisted her to perform jobs for him. These tasks mostly involved stealing valuables and disarming security devices. Unfortunately, one job that she was assigned -- a seemingly easy one, the theft of a high-tech watch that hadn't yet officially hit the market-- proved to be more dangerous than anticipated. The "victim" was someone that had caught wind of her activities, someone that was prepared, someone that was just waiting for the right time. Someone that was involved in the gang-like activities of a major corporation. Before she could take off the watch, he had a gun held discreetly to her side and ordered her to continue walking. She was taken to an abandoned warehouse where she was badly beaten, and she was fully convinced she was going to be killed, but they had other plans for her. She was handed a gun and ordered to kill whoever had enlisted her to steal from them. If she did as they asked, her life would be spared. This was the first and only time she ever hesitated to complete a job.
Before the evening was over, the officer was dead, and Rae thought it was all over. But things had only just begun. The group (which I haven't come up with a name for yet) brought her back in and armed her, training her in two specific skills: long-range stealth kills and close-range undetectable melee. They were fully intent on creating an assassin, and the number of credits pouring into Rae's account made her more than happy to comply with whatever she was told to do.

District: DST-27-WEST

Weapon(s): Strongly prefers melee, keeping an assortment of blades. Occasionally will use a silenced handgun if the situation permits it. On very very very rare occasion (like killing someone higher up with lots of security) would resort to a sniper rifle though it is risky and she prefers to avoid it.
((this is just an idea and completely subject to your approval)) Also keeps a small pen-like laser that is diffused so that it only temporarily disables whoever is "shot" with it (it's usually held to the neck or temple) so that she can move them to a different location to finish the job. This would only be used with individuals of massive size that she can not take on herself, or individuals who possess very dangerous weapons that are not worth getting too close to.

Armour:

Armor would typically include bulletproof vest, during jobs she would wear a hood and mask to conceal her appearance. Wears gloves and steel-toed boots on a regular day-to-day basis.

Cybernetics: Both eyes have been replaced with cybernetics that can more accurately detect distance, environmental conditions (wind, temperature) speed of moving objects and some other basic things. The functions are very basic and not always entirely accurate seeing as they were installed earlier in her life and she has not yet been able to afford to upgrade them.

Other: Has no living family that she knows of, has very little proper education although she has pursued some of her own research over the years. Not much of a moral compass in the way of picking sides. Has no problem detouring off-job just to ruin the day of someone who looked at her wrong.

I think it will be the best idea to get us all together. To get all of us, who are apart of different sections, to be volunteers on this expedition. Just straight discovery mission haha and proof of concept that we can leave on the rovers and return

^ I second this. Not to imply lack of other ideas but I like the direction of the discovery mission and the Rover has already been put into play anyway :P

Ever the analytical one, Erica couldn't help but subtly observe Tommy's mannerisms and body language. Her reservation faltered a bit - it was clear he meant well and hadn't intended to pry. She needed to quit stressing over every little thing, no one here was going to cause any harm, and he and everyone else on EDEN spent every day doing exactly what she did: Going through the motions and trying to keep occupied. Of course there was much to do, things to be taken care of, machines to be operated and tests to be recorded. But at the end of the day... there was a lot of spare time. Even in their small community, every wing and bloc had more than enough manpower to take care of things and there wasn't much of a sense of urgency unless the situation called for it. Even in the medical wing, the majority of Erica's job was based on interviews and evaluations. It wasn't particularly exciting, and it was very rare for an emergency to occur. So it was nice, on occasion, to just interact. Erica knew that much of EDEN considered itself to be a "family" of sorts -- she had never gotten so close to anyone here as to consider them family, but at times, she understood the appeal considering that many of them had left real families behind on Earth.

She returned the grin tightly, clutching her binder to her chest and looking back toward the laboratory when he mentioned the electrical system. "Seems to be alright," she replied, "Just a power drop, nothing major, everything important switched to backup battery power." It was then that Tommy mentioned her binder, and her eyes widened. Clearing her throat and trying to remain unperturbed, she said, "Yes, honestly fascinating. We train and groom ourselves for months in preparation to come here and still the environment has some unanticipated effects. And no two people react to it the same, everyone experiences it a bit differently." She smiled, shaking her head and laughing a bit. "I could go on about it for hours honestly but I won't bore you with it." When asked about herself, all she could do was shrug. "Nose to the grindstone as usual. Been doing some research on dietary supplements to counteract the weight loss effect. Much as everyone exercises and eats around here, it's hard to keep up the muscle mass, so we've got people in the lab working on it. Just for something to do. What about you? Anything new?"

She found that Tommy was easy-going enough that she could speak with him fairly openly. To her knowledge, he'd never expressed any kind of judgment or anything similar in regards to her personality; As clique-y as things could get up here, there were some people, including herself, who didn't partake in that kind of thing. And she appreciated when others held themselves above that as well.

At the mention of the SPR, Erica lit up a bit, excitedly. "I did hear! That's wonderful! Are you excited to test it out?" Ever since coming to EDEN, she had been immersed in the medical world and had little time to focus on her other interests. Hearing about what was going on in the other wings kept her sane. A lot of the new technology in EDEN was discovered through trial-and-error and safety precautions were always taken to make sure no one got hurt in case of malfunction, but it was always fun to see things evolve from an idea to reality and all of the brainpower that went into creating it. The SPR had been in the works for longer than Erica had been on EDEN, and if all went well, it would be an exciting advancement in their abilities as far as leaving the base itself.

Yesssss awesome <3 So glad to get some interest haha. I'd like to have at the very very least 5 people because there's so many different roles that can be played and we need at least one of each. Once I get a few more people I'll set up an OOC :)
