@tanderboltThaddeus grinned a little as he heard Tommy's response. A guy as honest as him was quite hard to come by in Thaddeus's experience, and someone like Tommy would be a valuable teammate to have. He was quite frank too, and that told Thaddeus another thing. People were usually honest because they have no reason to lie. Honest people hence usually came in 2 forms, either they were naive idiots or they didn't care about the consequences. The latter category happened much less often because you usually need the skills to back it up, and it was clear that Tommy was a part of that category.
"My name's Thaddeus, but you can just call me Tim if you want." Thaddeus said.
"That'll probably make it easier for both of us, but you can do what you want."Thaddeus turned to the slowly disappearing corpse of the beowulf before turning back to Tommy as he reattached his knife to his shotgun.
"I gotta say, you're one hell of a fighter." Thaddeus said.
"It'll be good to have you around, Tommy."Thaddeus then looked around the clearing, wondering if there were any more grimm around. He looked for the signs, but it seemed that the two beowulfs they'd fought had been it.
"Well then, since we've gotten introductions out of the way, let's get down to business." Thaddeus said to Tommy.
He began walking around the clearing, inspecting the trees. At Tommy's question about his landing point, he glanced back to it to gauge the height of the tree he'd used to stop his fall.
"Yeah, that was me." Thaddeus said before glancing back to the trees at hand.
"I was just trying to land. Succeeded somewhat, but I got a face full of splinters."He stood there, staring up at a tree in front of him. It was only slightly taller than the one he'd landed on, and he could see there were taller ones elsewhere. Tommy asked another question, which reminded Thaddeus that he needed to explain stuff. Stuff that needed to be known, so it was sort of surprising that Tommy had glossed over it, but he supposed that was just part of Tommy's personality.
"Well," Thaddeus said, looking up at another tree.
"This exercise is supposed to help us find our teams."Grabbing the lowest branch, he began climbing it while still talking to Tommy.
"The first guy you see is supposed to be your partner, so we got that covered." He said as he tested the branch's strength.
"Next, we gotta head to some ruins that're in this forest somewhere. There should be something in there..."Thaddeus hefted himself onto the tree branch with a little grunt of exertion before standing up and turning his head around to adress Tommy.
"I don't actually know where it is, so gimme a sec to climb this tree so I can find it."He began deftly climbing up to the top of the tree which was a little taller than the rest. As he ascended the tree, he could see the light becoming clearer as daylight emerged from behind the greenery. As he emerged at the top of the tree, he was met by a sea of green as far as he could see. There were standout trees here and there, but the landscape was mostly even. In the direction he was facing, he could see the cliff they'd come from. Thaddeus turned around to get a different angle. He saw more forest, but it ended abruptly at one point where it gave way to a stone structure of some sort.
"Oh, there it is." Thaddeus said.
"Hey Tommy!"Thaddeus quickly descended the tree before dropping off the lowest branch and landing with a thump.
"Found where we're going!" Thaddeus said upon landing.
"It's that way!"He pointed in the direction he'd seen to show Tommy the way he'd seen the structure.
"Pretty sure it is, anyway." He said.
"All I know is that something over there's gonna help us find the rest of our team, so let's go!."
